DO NOT do a membership with LaVida masssage. There are no benefits other than a few dollars saved. There are tons of restrictions on you if sign up with them. It's a waste of money. read more

Nice place. They have an introductory rate for new people. Shared parking in front. They sale the products they use. There is no relaxation area, etc. it's straight to the point here. No spa like experience. The masseuse I had was good. My biggest eat and only concern was the time difference. Paid for a 90 minute massage masseuse started late and ended early. So maybe they need to invest in locks and timers for their staff or train better so that this doesn't happen. There was a huge time discrepancy. They offered a small discount for the issue and coupon for next time I come. Hope you enjoy and are able to relax. read more

Had a massage with Kelly and she was fabulous! Would recommend her and the staff was friendly and helpful at scheduling my next appointment

stay away from Lavida massage. they are taking money out of my account without authorization. 3x this week alone. I may have to close all my accounts to make it stop. had to report them to all my financial institutions. this is ballantyne NC location but I believe they are all the same. when I contacted corporate they said they can't do anything about local franchises. same location cancelled numerous appointments on me because their staff kept quitting. Also short you on time - pay for 90 but they start late and end early so only getting 70 minutes at most. stay away read more

10/22 - Well, I'm not sure what "shortly" is but I've not heard anything back. This must be how they "resolve" things. Garbage. read more

A few months ago, I bought some discounted vouchers for La Vida Massage on one of those coupon sites. A few weeks ago, I went for my first massage at La Vida. My therapist for this visit was Rachel S. and she was absolutely wonderful. She was very professional and very skilled. There are many different types of massage, and based on what I described that I was looking for, she was able to deliver exactly what I wanted. This was hands-down the best massage I have had in years. I went back yesterday for another massage, and unfortuantely, Rachel was not available. So, for this massage, my therapist was Takila. She was also very professional and very skilled, but the massage was very different from Rachel's. The set-up of the facility is typical for this type of establishment. Their waiting room is set up accross from the check-in desk which is ok for me. I wasn't kept waiting on either occasion. The massage rooms are on the small side, but functional. Overall, I like this place better than some of the competitive massage places. I haven't signed up for a membership, so I really can't speak to how that works here. read more

I love this spa! It has a very modern feel to it. The front desk employees are great! I went to get a full body massage and loved it! MaKeisha was immaculate and super friendly. I would recommend this place to anyone in need of a good massage! read more

I had an awesome massage here with Andras! Clean spa, quality service and I am looking forward to coming back. Very relaxing!

Tried LaVida because I received a gift certificate for Christmas. Was scheduled with Caitlin by the potty mouth receptionist. Expressed several areas of pain/tightness. She started late, worked some areas I hadn't requested and none of the ones I did. Headache came on later int he evening. Internet research indicates it was due to not working opposing muscle groups, i.e, bad/inexperienced massage therapist. Can't recommend. read more

I carry all of my stress in my shoulders and constantly suffer from back pain. Wearing high heels, carrying a 30 pound purse and sitting at a desk all day doesn't help either. On more than one occasion, a clinical specialist recommended that I get massages frequently for the sake of my health and sanity. Unfortunately, getting frequent massages has not been on my radar because I assumed all establishments charged resort level fees and the monthly membership places were scams, like the gym... once you sign up you can't get out. You know what happens when you assume... right? But more on that later. My appointment was at one o'clock but I recommended that you show up 10 minutes early to fill out paperwork. When I arrived I was greeted by sweet Christina at the front and was right away offered water or tea. I took her up on the offer to hydrate before my session. The paperwork is not as involved as it may sound. You fill in basic information and a brief health history, but nothing like you would at a doctor's office. Massage therapists are healers and they need to know certain things so they know how to help you but also how not to hurt you. I was whisked away promptly at one o'clock to the therapy area by my therapist, Sydney. She asked me what type of pressure I prefer and I let her know where my problem areas were (shoulders & wrist injury). She left the room so that I could get undressed and under the sheets. My biggest personal issue when getting a massage is that I can't stop thinking about stressful things and remembering to breathe. The bed was heated and felt heavenly and I quickly felt my body relax and my mind started to drift with the music playing in the room. Perfection. She worked my muscles like a true therapist, concentrating on my problem areas and paying special attention to my injured wrist. It felt like time slowed down... a feeling I don't get to enjoy often. I've had my share of massages in my life. They have ranged from horrible to absolutely amazing. Let me tell you, I was putty by the time Sydney was done with me. Walking and talking proved to be difficult. It was that good. But they weren't done with me yet! Next up was my one hour facial with Glen-with-one-N. This was my first facial ever and I had no clue what to expect. Once again there was a consultation prior to the service, this time about my skin type and what I do to it (SPF 15 daily and nothing else... I sleep with my makeup on, shame on me!). The combination of Swedish and European Russian blood has served me well so I have been pretty lucky when it comes to my skin. I do break out on occasion but thankfully most of my breakouts happened during my teen years. Once again I stripped to my skivvies, got on the heated bed, closed my eyes, and let Glen-with-one-N take care of me. Glen was very good about letting me know what he was doing to me but without talking too much that I couldn't relax (I have a horror story from the time I got an overpriced massage in Vegas...!). His hands were magic. MAGIC! The treatment was fantastic. He used a steamer on my face that smelled like the Amazon. I thought I was relaxed after my massage but this put me over the edge of relaxation. But the amazingness did not end there. While my mask was setting, Glen gave me a foot massage that topped the one I got in Beijing in 2008. Yes, I remember things like that. I was drunk on relaxation and didn't think I would be able to drive by the time my sessions were over. It also made me realize that I need to get a massage more often to wipe away the stress. Stress kills. Remember that massage membership assumption I mentioned earlier? It was wiped away, just like my stress. LaVida offers a no pressure, month-to-month membership that is transferable. This is music to my ears because I'm always skeptical of anything membership related. This means that if I skip a month, I can have two massages or facials in one month or I can let my wonderful husband go in my place. As a member, you can also purchase additional services at a discount each month. Some say a massage is a luxury that only a few can enjoy. I say that it is a necessity that is affordable and even covered by some insurance plans! Yeah, that's right, you can get all or part of your massage reimbursed but you'll have to check with your insurance company on the necessary steps to take. Don't we all want to be healthy and happy and stress free in the new year? Give them a try and let them melt away your stress and tell them Kseniya sent you! read more

I want to preface this review with the mention that my wife and I get massages regularly and consider ourselves to have very high standards for our massages. I have a stressful job and my wife has back and neck issues. We take this seriously! :) When we moved to Charlotte from Virginia, we moved away from one of the best massage therapists we've every known. We had big shoes to fill, and we were determined to find a solid replacement for her. After trying 8 massage therapists in the area, we finally found our way to this La Vida location, and we haven't gone anywhere else since. Our high standards were finally met. The management and staff at this location is personable and accommodating. They know us by name when we walk in, even after a couple of months of not going. This is always a plus. We've had a few different therapists, all attentive to our varying requests from appointment to appointment, and all clearly skilled. You don't get someone who goes through the motions, you get a thoughtful massage tailored to your requests. Also, I never leave feeling greasy like I do with less skilled therapists. The atmosphere couldn't be better. Nice dim lighting, tranquil appointments, comfortable beds and rooms, pleasant music playing that is not too 'new age-y'. Bed heaters are available, which my wife loves. We both always leave floating on cloud 9. Highly recommended. read more

The girl at the front desk was very friendly and helpful when I came in, but not as nice on the way out, which was strange. Normal LaVida. No TV with the nature videos on it. Waiting room on the small side. Normal displays of their products. One bathroom for men and women. The rooms were quiet which is nice. Stephanie worked with me and was pleasant. The massage was good and I relaxed. She was better on the back side of the body with the large muscles, but she had a lack of experience in working with the finer muscles of the body, the feet, the neck, upper traps. This was my first time at this LaVida. read more

Had a massage today here. The massage itself was decent, however when you enter the first time you have the option do add ons. I opted for three of these, including Hot towels, a scalp massage and turmeric for some sore muscles. I got none of these although it was given to the masseuse. I made sure they were taken off the invoice, what is the point of having this option if they are not given. Was a huge disappointment to say the least. I won't be going back. read more

I've been a client here for almost a year now. I didn't give them five stars because I've had three different therapist in this time, but the three I've had have been absolutely fantastic. The staff is always super friendly and nice from start to finish. The atmosphere is always relaxing and calm. I'm currently seeing Christopher, who is an amazing therapist. I'm a Crossfit fanatic and a barber that stands all day and he has been an amazing help with my recovery process. I look forward to continuing with LaVida and I would recommend it to anyone looking to relax or recover! read more

My experience was great...from start to finish. I called for an appointment, got one the same day, and the receptionist was very pleasant to speak with. I arrived a bit early, and was greeted by a different front desk person, but he was also extremely pleasant and helpful. I was seen right away by Chris, and was treated with professionalism and made to feel very comfortable from the beginning. I'm not a pro at getting massages (this was my second ever) so I didn't really know what to do. Maybe he knew that, and was super easy with direction and guidance. I train in weightlifting, and my muscles were very tight and sore. I got the deep tissue massage and the massage itself was exactly what I needed/wanted. Before I knew it, my hour was up though! I ended up signing up for their membership plan because there is no commitment/contract and it's actually a pretty good deal Anyway, I highly recommend this place, especially for sports-related massage needs read more

Wow.....Dawn was amazing......her hands have radar to find your problem areas. Make sure you book 90 minutes, then just turn her loose. She has got to be the best kept secret @ LaVida. She is new to LaVida but not new to massage industry for sure. Her style is very professional & made me feel very comfortable from start to finish. Already rebooked...... read more

I have been a loyal customer for several months, getting 2-3 services per month while giving $18 - $30 tips each visit for a $50 - $60 service, have also given them second & third chances, & have even overlooked, & kept to myself, an incident where I was, how do you say.. Perved out on..?! I won't elaborate. BUT, After the way I was treated, by the girl who answered the phone yesterday, I unfortunately will no longer be able to set foot into this establishment for any service EVER AGAIN! I was made to feel like I was beneath her, she kept interupting, was very rude & made it clear to me that the only thing this business cares about is taking your money! After expressing my concerns of recent health issues, hospitalizations & illnesses we've faced the last 2 months & my desire to possibly put my account on hold for a couple months until we got "back on top of things" the receptionist's demeanor completely changed & she quickly let me know I was not at all valued as a customer or a human being! FYI, In the customer service industry, or when having any interaction/conversation you have with others it is 5% what you say & 95% how you say it. I am still upset, very much AWAKE & up writing this review at 5:00 am. when I need to be resting for work tomorrow morning. But, I am far too hurt to sleep! & definitely won't be back! I waited on a call that never came from the manager I was told would contact me, Never Did! Guess I'm not important since we are having money woes..? I'm leaving 2 stars because Paula is OUTSTANDING! :, ( I will miss her, she was always very sweet, talented & thorough in her massage techniques. :( Sad. The other receptionist was always kind & friendly but you know the saying.. one bad apple.. & The dark haired girl has just never been & needs to be trained on speaking with & dealing with the public in a positive, professional manner. Brightside..? I have found a closer, more affordable massage therapist, only $30/hr., I just pray she is as good as Paula was : ) read more

LOVED IT! I went to LaVida because I have muscle spasms in my shoulder and back, and also have plantar fasciitis. I had been to physical therapy for this problem and received some resolution from my muscle pain. My massage therapist took time to find out my concerns and suggested an appropriate massage based on my issues. She did an amazing job and was very knowledgeable. She talked when appropriate, but remained quiet when I needed to relax. I feel that my pain is significantly better. I bought the 3 month package and am looking forward to going back again soon. The environment is lovely and I found that making appointments online was very convenient. The front desk staff was very accommodating. I only gave 4 stars because my massage therapist isn't available on the weekends. There are other therapists available on the weekend, but I want to stick with the therapist that I have because she is so good! read more

I see that my previous comment was deleted?! The owner of La Vida is very rude! The masseuse are great, but I would never return because of the way I was treated. I am a lawyer and was lectured by the owner on signing a contract. There are plenty of other massage parlors in town. I will never return! read more

I have had a terrific experience at LaVida so far. I've been a member for about 3 months now and the rate is very reasonable. Plus you get a family member massage 1 a month for even less. My wife went last week and loved it. Sydney is excellent. read more

I have been a member at Lavida Massage for three years and will continue to be as long as they are open. I think staffs are great. What I have a problem with is their pricing. They say it is $59.95 for 60 minutes massage but they starts at least 5-10 minutes late for undressing then stops 10 minutes before the hour. Adding recommended tip of $16, you are actually paying $76 for 40-45 minutes massage. That's fine if that is a fair price. Just don't advertise it as 60 minutes massage. read more

My bi-weekly refuge. My happy place. My "me" time. While LaVida is a franchise, there is always differences between locations. For me, this location of LaVida has it all. The staff is VERY friendly. The therapists are VERY knowledgeable, VERY professional, VERY good. The facilities are VERY clean and in a great location. I've been a member for almost three years and have never had a bad experience. I can't say that about other massage locations I have tried. You can't do any better then LaVida Promenade! read more

It was my first time at La Vida and it was a nice visit. Rachel did a great job! I enjoyed the refreshing strawberry water as well. The bathroom needed a makeover. The toilet seat was coming off and the flusher needed to be fixed. read more

The best low key experience in town. I've tried other chains, and feel that they pressure you to sign up and can be bit aggressive. From the first visit, I felt immediately relaxed. No pushy sales pitch. The rooms are quite and the massage therapists I've had so far have been very good. I let my 16 year old son, a football player, take one of my messages and he loved it. I'm now a member and like how cozy the place is. If you are looking for a fancy big luxurious spa this is not it. If you want a relaxing, easy and great massage at a good value LaVida is your place. read more

I love my time at Lavida Massage! Sarah gives the best deep tissue massage, highly recommend her!!! Awesome service.

I had a wonderful relaxing time at La Vida as always. Kelly was excellent and I will be returning soon!

I have been to several sessions with this location and it has been a great experience each time. It is a breeze getting an appointment without having to make it 2 weeks in advance. The front desk is very friendly and the therapists are knowledgeable. I have been dealing with some back issues and LaVida has been a helpful part of my recovery. I think I'll make my next appointment right now. read more

The therapist Ms. Douglas was great! No issues there. Our issue was with the charge. I purchased 3 one hour massages online. We looked forward to the visit...our last visit included my sister in-law who has since passed away, and we had some great memories of the establishment. Even though I had not been there since 2010, I was considered a returning customer, and not entitled to $49.95 rate, which I was not informed when I scheduled the 3 1-hr massages. Initially the front desk was not understanding or accommodating. This was disheartening...I had ended my over 1 yr relationship with Massage Envy over their uncommunicated policy changes, souring my opinion of the industry. Even the distance is out of my way, I considered the monthly plan as my doctor recommended massage for back issues. The situation made me re-think signing up. The supervisor eventually honored the $49.95 rate but did not give me the $25 gift card I was entitled to for purchasing over $100 in gift cards. read more

No one at this location has a clue how to provide customer service. I made an appt for an 11 AM facial only to arrive to find the location closed (store hours that day were posted to be 9 to 9) After waiting for 15 min with two of LaVida's employees, some one came with a key to let us in. It was downhill from there. They could not find where I made an appt and a gentlemen that works there grilled me about whether I was even in the right location! When I informed him I knew where I made the appt, he then wanted to know who I spoke with - REALLY? The appt was pre-paid but alas, the person that I made the appt with wasn't even available that day. I finally was comped a comparable service only after threatening to leave. Avoid this place at all cost. And just an FYI, while I waited 40 min to receive my service, I heard the receptionist take numerous calls fielding complaints from others about the service. read more

One of the most unprofessional establishments I've ever been to. Had to pay another $120 to my Chiro after paying for this massage it was so awful. Aside from feeling worse upon leaving the massage itself was uncomfortable, unprofessional and amateur. Asked to speak with a manager on my way out, there was none available. Called everyday for 7 days and was told no managed was there and found out the owner is also a therapist and therefore is obviously on site and able to receive messages. I make sure everyone I speak to knows not to go here. From the nasty girl at the front desk to the inexperienced massage therapist this staff is truly one of a kind. And they couldn't care less that they give less than horrible customer service. Sad. read more

I visited this location yesterday. I communicated that I wanted my massage to be for relaxation and stress relief with a minimum amount of pressure. I asked my masseuse to please lay off the pressure twice. I was actually in a lot of pain due to the massage. I left feeling worse than I did before I got there. I don't think she read my form or listened to me. I normally go somewhere else but this location was closer. I tried to be nice and a tip was still provided but now I need a massage to get over my massage. In disappointed and sore now. read more

Kelly at La Vida Promenade provided a fantastic massage today. I had my first appointment with Kelly already scheduled for day and ironically this morning I experienced a sudden onset of mid-lower back spasms. It was painful all day. After a 60 minute massage from Kelly my back was totally loose and I could walk normally and drive without discomfort. I highly recommend La Vida for a low-sales pressure facility that offers first rate services. And Kelly give a great massage. read more
