The one thing I can say is that the staff is always very nice. Whenever I get Andy or the younger woman tech (can't remember her name), I am happy and leave happy. As soon as they send me to the last table in the corner, I automatically know it will be an awful job. Today I scheduled an appointment and walked in and was directed there and literally almost walked out. This is the third and last time I will be allowing her to do my nails. A picture is worth a thousand words and I have many that I have taken immediately after my nails being done to let you all see how terrible they look. Chipped, uneven, not painted all the way, etc ... I cannot understand for the life of me how this is acceptable. Unfortunately I have to recommend NOT wasting your time or money at this salon. The entire process was extremely rushed. I made an appointment for a full set with gel. The tech did extremely sloppy nail prep, used one cotton pad to remove black polish from all of my nails and left black color all over. Drilled my nails down so thin that I could feel the drill reach my skin through my nails: EXTREMELY PAINFUL. she asked me if i wanted just a gel overlay or tips. I had 3 broken nails and asked for tips only on the broken ones. She put Gelx on all of my nails? I asked her to cut them down to the length my nails already are, and she asked why did I want tips if they were going to be the same length. I did not ask for that, I only asked for tips on the broken nails. once again, VERY sloppy prep job, she didn't even cut my nails down so they are now all clumpy and cured gel all over my fingers and in between my nails and the fake nail. not to mention, the final nails are uneven, way too thick, and overall look horrible. also need to add that I asked for a completely different color and showed a picture of a light brown color I saw on pinterest. she said two coats of this color will look like that. this is not light brown at all. and was charged $60 for completely unacceptable work. This place was open on New Years and we were able to get a same day appointment. The prices are reasonable: $35 for spa pedi & $28 for gel manicure, per their board of prices. This was my first salon back since COVID-19 began and I must say, Leah, the owner has ensured that her salon is super clean and safe. To start, Leah was able to squeeze me in at the last minute. As far as her services, I was impressed with her knowledge of services and how she has worked her way up to being a salon owner in less than 6 years after coming to the USA from Vietnam. She remembers your name and she has a great memory of colors (a lady came in while I was getting my nails done and asked Leah what color she previously used on her and Leah quickly remembered). I Was really looking forward to trying this place. The design and store looked modern and newer compared to other salons. However, the gel selections were of off brands/ names and not a lot of design options. My nail tech cut me 3 times, one of them kept bleeding even after getting home. She did not apologize or put on anything after cutting it. She simply said, " oh I cut you." The stations were full of nail dust and they do NOT use new files on each customers. Also I had to run back in for her to fix/file the gel on a few fingers that were on my skin. Lastly I believe the tech was sick, she was wearing a mask but it lowered while she was working. My sister and I went to Lavender for the first time to get pedicures together. We were greeted by a woman who seemed to be the owner (she was wearing regular clothing while others were wearing smocks). She placed us into our pedicure chairs and once I was in my chair next to my sister, she spoke to my sister only. She started on my sister's pedicure and I waited patiently for my tech. I waited at least 15 minutes until a male tech came over and started on my feet. He never greeted me, he never asked what kind of pedicure I would like, he rushed me and I ended up finishing at the same time as my sister!! As he was doing my pedicure, I had to point out certain things to him such as a nail not being filed correctly (crooked) and the nail polish not reaching up to my cuticle, and other things. He tried to argue with me and say everything was fine but I politely insisted he fix it. After I was done at the same time as my sister, we waited for our toe nail polish to dry, he came and asked when will we leave. When we finally got up to the payment desk, my sister paid with her card and then it was my turn, the tech asked me if I wanted to add a tip to the total. I told him no, I have cash for any tips. He never asked my sister if she wanted to tip with her card total, it was only directed at me. I still gave him a small tip (small because of the terrible experience) but regret doing even that because The whole experience was left me feeling cheated and very annoyed. There was no professionalism, no customer service, I was rushed out and paid $33 plus tip instead of $25 (listed on Google services for this salon) for a very simple pedicure service that was 15 minutes long instead of 30!! Turns out they are no better. I go during the weekdays and STILL feel rushed when no one is waiting for an appointment. This last time I went for my nails (about the 3rd time) 11/12/21 I got a butterfly sticker put on and it came off two days later. Then the polish on my thumb started to bubble up and peel off. Literally- Got hit with a nail file and a pointer finger that had a sharp nail and my hand pulled and tugged every time my fingers were not in the position that the young man deemed worthy . No problem so I thought until I tried to schedule an appointment today! I was told my business was no longer welcome a week after my daughter purchased a $100 gift card for me AFTER my late appointment. My daughter & 3 of her friends frequent the nail salon as well. I was floored but I noticed a shift a few months ago but thought maybe I'm being a little sensitive and the salon was becoming busier. The shop is located in a nice part of town but we noticed the African American customers are being a bit rushed, services are not the same, nasty attitudes are present. I had an amazing gel refill experience here at Lavender Mani Pedi in Marlton, especially with the assistance of nail technician Leah. I wasn't very sure on what nail design so Leah was so helpful and creative in selecting the perfect color and design. I have been coming to lavender for a few years. I have had a couple of instances where they have cut me during a manicure, but most of the time they were very apologetic. Accidents happen and i am usually very understanding. However this past time I went for a gel manicure I was not at all happy. My manicure came out nicely but my tech was rushing through the entire thing as if he wanted me gone. He would roll his eyes at me when my arm or hand wasn't in the exact position he wanted it... even before my arm was placed down through the glass. I wasn't going to leave this review, but the fact that it's been hours since I left this salon and I'm still upset by my experience is telling. I was referred by another person to see a nail tech named Andy. When I booked this appt, it was scheduled for 2:30p - the business called me back shortly after the booking, said he was running behind and asked if we could move it to 3pm. At 2:45p Andy called me personally and asked me to "come now". I told him I was en route and would be there at 3pm. I told him I wanted gel, but he insisted on redoing my dip. I advised him that if he could make it thin and natural, that was fine. Andy's skill set is okay - he is quick, somewhat detailed (not great, but not bad), but his attitude and aggressive behavior was so horrendous, I actually had to stop the service. He was extremely agitated throughout the entire service, kept smacking my hands and shaking my hands hard and saying "RELAX YOUR HAND". At one point, he became so aggressive, he grabbed my forearm, pressed his thumb very hard into a pressure point in between the two bones of my left forearm, stared at me angrily, and called me a curse word in Vietnamese. In the 20 some years I've gotten professional manicures (or any traditional grooming service), I have never ever in my life experienced something or someone like this. Now in reading other reviews (see Kelsey's and others) - this is not an uncommon experience with this particular tech. It got so bad that I took my hands away because he was becoming borderline assaultive, to the degree that I even apologized for whatever it was that I thought he was so upset about just so he would stop hurting me. He didn't respond and he just stared at me angrily. I finally stopped the service and advised the owner something was wrong with her employee and she immediately signaled to another male tech (Ian?) who popped up out of his chair without missing a beat - almost as if this wasn't the first time he's been called upon to right the ship. Ian was kind, soft spoken, apologetic, asked me what I liked or how I wanted things and finished the service. I paid in full and even left a 20% tip which I handed to Ian. Thinking back, I shouldn't have, but I was just so eager to get the hell out of that salon in hopes to escape a really shitty experience. I'm still sitting here completely dumbfounded. Should you choose to go there, I would recommend anyone but Andy. read more
