Just came into Columbus to visit friends and they suggested Lavash for lunch and I'm SO happy they did. Lavash is the one of the best restaurants I've been to, and I've been to a ton of places. The food is fresh with amazing quality. We tried over 5 dishes and all were incredible, especially the lamb chops and baba ghanoush. They get their spices straight from Palestine and it really shows, and probably the most flavorful Mediterranean food I've had. On top of the perfect dishes, the service was phenomenal. This is a quaint little Mediterranean spot in Clintonville with indoor seating as well as outdoor when weather permits. The ambiance is simple, not anything extraordinary but the food is delicious! My favorites as mentioned in previous reviews are the garlic sauce, pita bread, and the hummus. The falafel is also really great as well. I also think because the garlic sauce is so amazing, that everything it touches, the rice, lamb, beef, etc, etc, and the veggies that you dip in it are also better as well. Update! I haven't been to Lavash for a while and have been wanting to go again! We did and I couldn't help but give it another raving review. I went for lunch with my wife and friend. I'm kicking myself for not being able to remember the names of our entrées! Names or not, the food was excellent! We also ordered hummus and falafel. They have gluten free falafel! I was elated! They were delicious! The hummus was outstanding as usual. The service was awesome. Everyone was kind and helpful. I appreciate an establishment where everyone looks like they're enjoying themselves. Lavash is just excellent. From dining in to take away, their service is supreme. When dining in, one of my favorite things for my kiddo is the free chocolate cupcake that comes along with the meal. The servers are always courteous and ask if he can have it after we have our meal. And of course the food is always warm, and delicious! My favorite is the babaganoush while my son loves the seasoned saffron rice and my husband enjoys the hummus. The pita is always fresh and the meats are tender and very flavorful. I have made sure people know of Lavash Cafe. It has to be the best Mediterranean restaurant in Columbus. There's a lot of them. It has some very good looking and tasting food and it's still affordable. The location has a small dining area but it's convenient for takeout. I first had Lavash Cafe from its booth at Comfest. It had the best falafel we tried there so we wanted to go to the restaurant some time. The appetizer is about $3 and the sandwich is about $7. It also has good hummus. The black bean is almost as good as the regular. It goes very well with a sandwich. There are lots of vegetarian options. It's menu has a vegetarian section. The mujadara is lentils and rice topped with caramelized onions. It's about $13. They have a couple other entrees that include stuffed grape leaves and tabbouli. It's another locally owned business so it's great to support it. The owner was very friendly so that made us want to get some more. I recommend Lavash Cafe to anyone looking for cheap but good Mediterranean. It has lots of options for anyone. The falafel is needed but anything else you get here you can't go wrong. read more

I've heard about Lavash but never made my way around to it. But some friends that I haven't seen for a while linked up and we were looking for a good place to go and eat together. Lavash was chosen at the last second to try out. So I was happy to finally get to go. Food: A+ We had 4 people with us. Me and my foodie friend wanted to grab the combo for 3-5. But the other 2 people are basic eaters. So they just got the basics. But we ended up grabbing the combo for 2, and added on the Jumbo Tiger Shrimp and Falafel. When they finally brought everything out we realised how much food it was. Also when my other 2 friends saw it, they raised the mistake they made and wished they would have just gotten the combo with us lol. Literally everything was so good. Every meat was juicy and tender and the flavors were crazy. Everything was fresh and I couldn't ask for anything more. I was using the pitas that came with it to make all kinds of crazy combos. The Shrimp was really good and the Falafel was spot on. It was a feast. Me and my friend were stuffed and there was still so much more left to take home. For only 50 bucks for the Combo for 2 it was definitely worth the money spent. Service: A When you walk in is when you place your order. The counter is there as soon as you go through the door, then you find seating. The lady-cashier at the front counter was very helpful and took time to show us the specials when asked and go through all of them. The staff was incredibly friendly and let me taste some of the terrific food prior to ordering and then even during my meal. They couldn't have been any nicer. I almost felt as if I came over their house. The Café is nice inside too and had fairly modern décor. You order when you walk in, pay and then they buzz you when your meal is ready. They have both inside and outdoor seating. Drinks are self-service. They also have real utensils and not the plastic stuff. Many of the items are cooked to order. You can see many of the kabobs in their display and they all look really good. The rice, salad on the platter were very good along with their fresh pita bread. The black bean hummus was also something unique and good. I can't say enough about this place. I no longer live in Columbus but many times when I find myself at a Mediterranean cafe any other place around the country, I will think to myself, "This is not Lavash." That is how much I loved this place and how I will always return to it when I am back in Columbus. In my mind, Lavash has the best hummus I've ever had in a cafe like it. The price is reasonable and a small hummus plentiful and the pita to go along with is fantastic and unlimited. There were many times I would just have a lunch of hummus and pita and return to work with the happiest lunch coma ever. Carbs, baby! I don't eat meat anymore but when I did I enjoyed Lavash's chicken shawarma sandwich on lavash. Now I enjoy the falafel, the baba ghanoush, the rice, it goes on and on. Everything I've tasted there I have really enjoyed so I imagine the menu items that I haven't had are also awesome. The vibe of Lavash is also really great. It's an awesome place to go with a friend, eat really good food, not break the bank, and have a wonderful conversation. I also have ended up multiple times running into other people I knew there. This is how amazing Lavash is -- you end up in conversations with people you didn't even expect to see there! The staff of the restaurant is very kind and that comes directly from the owner who constantly interacts with the guests and is very nice and welcoming. It is clear he is proud of his food and I am proud to eat it! There also used to be a framed photo on the counter of the owner and actor Danny Glover but it has since disappeared. I'm not sure where it went. It's not as if Danny Glover has sexually harassed women (at least not to our knowledge) like other actors of his generation. Bring back that Danny Glover photo! Hey, if Lavash is good enough for Danny Glover, it should be good enough for you! The restaurant is also located in Clintonville so if you find yourself in this neighborhood checking out bars or shopping it's the place to go. Lavash is certainly one of the things about Columbus that I miss and one of my favorite restaurants from the city. read more

This is one of our favorite places in Columbus for Mediterranean food. We have been here before and always enjoyed our food and friendly service from their staff. We ordered for pick up and the estimated wait time was 25-30 minutes which was fine. To our surprise I received a text less than 10 minutes later saying our order was ready. We were happy with the fast service and were delighted with the nice presentation of the packaged food upon opening. I ordered the Lamb and beef Schwarma and a small hummus. I have been coming here for several years after one of my former doctoral students introduced me to this place. The food is always fresh. We love the lentil soup or a salad and any of the meat selections, especially the lamb. Self serve soft drinks. This trip coincided with Eid, the end of Ramadan. So there was a big happy party in the window area. But then in walked two Catholic priests. It's truly an interfaith place to eat. And the manager offered my 96 year old a courtesy "sample" of baklava. Well. It turned out to be four pieces....Yum! Looking forward to our return visit. Wow! What can I say? I come here at least once a week for the food, but the hospitality of the staff is another selling point. Everything here is made to order. They have beautiful skewers of shrimp, chicken, lamb and beef sitting in the showcase waiting for you to purchase so they can grill them up. On today's visit, I decided to go with the red snapper. The entire fish is fried to perfection and served on a bed of rice and served with a small salad. Delicious. We usually cater from Lavash for small casual business lunches. The food is always fresh and good. I like their lamb and chicken kana a as well as their hummus. Their baklava is good as well. I have been to the restaurant itself only once for lunch and once for dinner (today). There is usually a line to get in so the place is quite popular. I only wish they had sit down service. You order at a counter and they give you a number. They usually call out your number a couple of times. The first time to give you appetizers and salads and the second time for your main entree. Having a small wait staff could significantly improve the experience without taking a big hit on the bottom line. Anyway, today we got the black bean hummus, the lamb chops, and the lamb wrap. The black bean hummus was terrific. I really liked the texture as well as the taste. The lamb chops were cooked perfectly --- tender and juicy--- but the spices on them were too bland, which detracted from an otherwise excellent dish. The lamb wrap had too much tahini sauce in parts which made it taste a little bitter at times. This is overall a 5 star for freshness and a 3.5 star for flavor. I would give my dinner at Lawash 5+ stars for having the best salad of all times, the Fatoush (Thank you Christina!) truely the biggest and most flavorful bowl of goodness I have ever tasted! This is a catering review! Lavash catered our brunch the day after the wedding for about 120 people. We has a great experience working with their catering team! Our contact was so helpful in suggesting popular entrees and appropriate quantities for the number of guests. The food was delivered to our venue, and we were provided with chafing dishes and sterno to keep everything warm (which were easy to return to the restaurant the following week). All the food was delicious - we got a variety of meats, falafel, rice, salad, hummus, grape leafs.
