The food here is delicious. While I've only eaten breakfast here, it's the best breakfast I've had eating out at a place.

Laurie's kitchen is amazing. They're not always open but when they are, they are five star anything you want? They pretty much have the staff is always friendly and the service is quick. This restaurant owner also gives to multiple charities and donates to churches. I give it a five star because of the people that run this business. read more

Had a nice little chat with some folks that were leaving and happy people leaving a restaurant are a good sign. We were seated quickly by Laurie was incredibly friendly and funny. The sign on the wall that said, "service may vary based on my mood and your attitude cracked me up, I decided I was tipping right then. The food was pricey, breakfast used to be a cheap meal, but it was worth it. The portions were huge, a half order of biscuit and gravy was as big as full order else where and really good. It seems there are very few places that know how to cook hashbrowns anymore but these were perfect cafe hashbrowns. The place had that quaint, small town cafe charm that we enjoy and everyone that walked in the doors was greeted. We will certainly be back. read more

Ehhh look I am not unsympathetic. Downtown Mulvane needs this place and the people are so friendly. I love the lending library inside. But the food is meh and the gross leaked-through ceiling tiles make me wanna puke. read more

Stopped in for late Sunday breakfast. We were greeted by Laurie, who also served us. Glenn has the vegetarian omelet. Not only was it plentiful, but he said it was delicious. I had biscuit and gravy with hash browns. The biscuit was huge and awesome and the hash browns were crispy on the outside and perfect on the inside. The sausage gravy wasn't outstanding, but I'm picky about sausage gravy. It was as good as I've gotten here in the Midwest (I'm a southerner). I highly recommend Laurie's, and there are a couple of surprises there you'll just have to see for yourself. We'll be back. read more

Driving through Kansas the family were looking for somewhere to eat. We found Laurie's Kitchen on Google maps and took the short detour into Mulvane. So glad we did. 10 thumbs us (2 from each of us). My wife had a salad which was huge, my parents both had a burger which they really enjoyed, my son also had a burger (no bun due to allergies) and scoffed that down long with hash browns and some of my parents tater tots and cottage fries! Myself, I had the skillet with perfectly cooked poached eggs, nice and runny with a cooked white. Justice, our server (from the name on the ticket) was very nice, very attentive and looked after us to ensure we had everything to make our meal perfect. Be sure to check hours before you visit, they close at 3pm and (I think) closed Mon & Tues or Sun & Mon... It's always nice to find a hidden gem not too far from the highway and Laurie's Kitchen just hit the spot! Anyone who knows my reviews know that I don't give out a 5* lightly. If I lived in the area, this would be back to try some other options. read more

We had a coupon. We've driven past the place many times. Both of us were off today and on our way to the casino, so we figured it was time to stop in for breakfast. We were seated next to the breakfast buffet. WHAAAAT? I knew I wanted it. Put down the menu. When the waiter asked if I wanted a waffle, I was sold! You name it, they had it. The cheesy potatoes were excellent. Standard breakfast foods. Eggs, bacon, sausage, hash browns, biscuits, gravy, fruit, cereal, donuts, muffins. Everything was good except the sliced gray sausage. It was freezer burned. The only disappointment to the entire breakfast. We will be back someday to try the burgers. We heard they are good, too. read more

My first, last, and only time at Laurie's kitchen was this morning. I was seated alone at a very long table, although many other tables were available as the restaurant was only half full. I ordered pancakes, smoked sausage, and two eggs over easy. It took 27 minutes to get my food. In the meantime, another gentleman was seated across the table from me although there were still many many other options. The staff all seemed to know him well and called him John. His body odor could stop a charging rhinoceros at 30 paces. Then, the waitress stood behind this putrid customer and gave him a shoulder and back massage. (You cannnot make this stuff up) When my food finally came, the eggs were stone cold, the pancakes were tougher than a boot. (You needed a very sharp knife to cut them) The smoked sausage had great flavor but was burned and cold. I tasted all three items, laid down cash, and fled the smell, fled the masseuse/waitress, and the fled the whole experience. I will say other than being poor at her job, having a foul mouth and exercising poor judgment -- all the waitress tattoos were spelled correctly! Do yourself a favor -- avoid Laurie's Kitchen/Laurie's Massage Parlor. read more

If you want a fantastic meal, this is the place!! The breakfast burrito is my favorite! My Son loves the roughneck. Prices are great, portions are huge, and food is fresh. It's a fun family diner experience, with a hometown feel. Watch for specials, like steak night where steaks are charcoal grilled outdoors. Try a side order of Lauries twisted sauce! On what? Typical diner fare, no frills. Family owned business (owner's have their own play table). Portions were large and food was tasty (not too greasy). Service was slow for our table of 5, but the waitress kept our coffee full so I didn't mind one bit. It was my first time in (visiting from out of town), but this is my parent's favorite breakfast joint. They will drive from Derby and prefer this restaurant to some of the Derby choices. Unfortunately not good. We wanted to give this local restaurant a try but we will not be going back. We ordered the special and the meat was burnt and the fries were soggy and almost inedible. This meal was supposed to include the drink and they still charged it separately...we also ordered the chicken fried steak breakfast and the meat was sour so we were uncomfortable eating more than the 3 bites. Our total was about $35 and definitely not worth it. read more

I just had one of the top 3 burgers of my lifetime! 1/3 pound-fresh ground beef w/ grilled onions, crispy bacon, an egg, cheddar cheese and all the trimmings...Amazing taste and very filling. Best breakfast around! My husband and I drive from Derby at least once a month to eat their breakfast. The number five Laurie's Cajun skillet is both of our favorites but on Saturday and Sunday they offer a breakfast buffet with many great choices as well. Breakfast all day! Laurie's is one of those local secret tiny town diners with comfy booths and the best hashbrowns ever places. Not sure how long Laurie has been serving diner fare here on Main St Mulvane but it seems like the place to go for breakfast/lunch in the area. Good coffee. We went to Laurie's Kitchen for Sunday breakfast. The wait staff was friendly and efficient and the ambiance was charming, small-town café. We did not eat the buffet but ordered off the menu. The coffee was too weak for my taste and the breakfasts we ordered - basic scrambled eggs, hash browns, bacon, and toast were just standard. (We prefer crisper bacon and hash browns.) Their burger with ham and bbq sauce is awesome. Their biscuits and gravy are divine. Their pecan pancakes are out of this world!

The burgers were clearly fresh and handmade and the french fries were fresh cut from potatoes that day. The price is a little high but the food is clearly good quality. I like supporting small local business as well. read more
