I came to Chrissie with a pretty clear vision of the overall look I wanted to achieve, but with many unresolved details. Chrissie started by creating detailed sketches that pulled together my wishlist into something beautiful and unified. She created a muslin "draft" of the outfit first, and in a session in her studio she built out the garment on my body while we talked through different decisions. She even made the pant legs in two different styles, so I could decide which direction to take! She also pulled fabric samples and found the perfect colors and lace patterns. She even met with me at a fabric store so that we could look at and buy the cloth together. The process of building the outfit in the satin/silk happened across a few sessions, and Chrissie made sure to get every detail just right. Throughout the process, Chrissie was a joy to work with. She made the process so fun and put me at ease. She was always attentive and listened to my questions and ideas, and helped shape my ideas into something beautiful and real. The reviews were good and he was in my neighborhood so I decided to go through with it. He told me he would text me the price when he spoke to the tailor. Then they went ahead and did the work without confirming the price with me, which was double the amount I pay at my other place. Then I tried to pick up the dress two different times when he said he was open but he was not. Finally intercepted the shop when it was open. He handed me my dress back from his car all crumpled and the hem itself is messy and not well done.

I was reviewing my clothes to ensure they were adequately cleaned. My blazer looked a little discolored (it may have just been the low ambient light), so I asked nicely if it was dry-cleaned also. Instead of just answering the question politely (like "yes" or "of course"), out of nowhere he got defensive and angry and shouted at me: Smell it! Smell it! He also got defensive, saying in an angry tone that I inspected clothes like looking at a dead body. Aside from a dumb analogy, it's any customer's right to view clothes to ensure they're adequately clean before paying. Very basic and simple. He's also not usually there before 3p, and requested that I pick up my clothes between 4 - 6:45p. Not very convenient compared to other cleaners. He said he waited too long for me, which makes ZERO sense because I arrived at ~ 6p, within the time frame that he requested. He also charges more than other dry cleaners on average, especially for jackets and blazers. This guy is either a miserable, unhappy person or has a mental illness. I will NEVER come back here again. No one deserves to be treated this way.

Based on other reviwes I decided to take my sewing machine in for repair. Mr. Joseph is in the…read morestore in the late afternoon/evening. Mr. Joseph works quietly and meticulously. He examined each piece individually as he removed them. He quickly isolated the problem and corrected it. Then he cleaned out the dust and cleaned each part he removed, oiled the moving parts and put the machine back together. He then tested the machines stitching, using various stitches, while making sure that I was satisfied with the operation and the way the stitches looked. Finally he asked me if I had any questions about the machine. It was a quick, easy and pleasant experience. It was easy to see Mr. Joseph's expertise problem solving and repairing sewing machines. His pricing was reasonable. I will take my machine to him for regular servicing to keep it working smoothly.
