I've never felt compelled to write a review before, but after using LaundroMutt's self-service facilities today, I simply must. Short version: reasonable, luxurious, enjoyable, great. Long version: I took my unbelievably adorable 11-month old poodle-mix puppy to Laundromutt after her vacation on Martha's Vineyard. She had gotten a bit dirty, so I wanted to make sure that she got clean. The $19 for a wash and blow-dry was incredibly reasonable [paying someone to wash her at another groomers would have been $45], but more importantly, the service was exceptional. Although there were other dogs in the self-service area, the owner and several attendants made me feel like I was their only priority. They walked me through all of the steps, making it easy and effortless for me to wash and dry my pup. Although I did the washing and drying myself, they were so helpful that I felt like they were doing the work! Midway through the blow-dry, tragedy struck: I found a tick on my precious baby. The owner came over and removed the tick easily and without fuss. A few minutes later, I found another tick that was harder to remove. The owner and another worker came over and helped me for over ten minutes, the worker finally using her own fingernails to get the tick out. I honestly couldn't believe how helpful and kind they were, and I'm so happy I chose them. I will certainly be back. read more

Love Laundromutt! The Gooseface killah sparkles after his wash and blowdry. You have to blow dry, it gets so much loose hair off. The staff's nice, It helps that one of the employees is a boxer fan, too. I've only had to wait a couple times and they have a great dog/people lounge upstairs with mags and a tv, I got to watch the red sox with some nice folks and their dogs- how cool is that. But be warned, some idiot customer left the gate open my dog bolted. If there are loose dogs up there shut the gate behind you jackass! Oh and $18 bucks once a month for a wash and blowdry is not expensive. read more

LOVE this place. Love the people, love the stuff, love that they are so understanding, and remember me and my dog, and have helped me through all the growing pains of owning a puppy for the first time. Great job guys! read more

Laundromutt is a great place which I've been going to since it's opening! If you have a big dog or one that sheds you can't beat the set up, very easy. read more

Not good! Laundromutt turned our 10 Month old Tibetan Terrier pup into a Poodle with a mullet! :( The owners do not seem to care about customer satisfaction very much as they refused to refund even part of the $75 we paid - even after the groomer went against our explicit instructions for what NOT to do, and shaved our pup's belly and the inside of his legs rather than brushing them out as we requested. I would not go here again... read more

Excellent facility with friendly staff and numerous bathing/grooming options.

I was just perusing the site and read the most recent post. I just wanted to say that I've been to Laundromutt several times with my 112lb Burmese Mt Dog and have never had a problem getting him into the tub. He doesn't like it, but the staff are always there to help. Sometimes the tubs with ramps aren't available, so we usually wait for one to open up. Also, of course it's going to be packed on a Sunday during the holidays! But I have only ever seen the staff hurrying to clean tubs, wipe the floors, ring out customers efficiently, and get people in and out as soon as they can while being absolutely pleasant about it the whole time. Maybe it's hard to empathize if you've never worked in a busy retail or customer service setting, but they do a GREAT job. read more

I bring my two mini poodles here for the DIY wash and dry and nail trim once a month. The people are friendly and helpful, the facilities are up to date and clean, and there's a small lot in back for parking. It's more efficient for me to wash my dogs and blow out their dos quickly at Laundromutt than at home and no clean up. They also have a good selection of dog treats, accessories, food, etc. Weekends can get crowded especially in nicer weather so it's smart to arrive a few minutes early before opening. read more

We took our newly adopted dog to laudromutt over the weekend and everything there was great. Our pup is a little shy, but the staff there was very understanding and helpful with our little guy. We couldn't be happier our pup smells clean and looks a great deal better. I would definatley recommend laundomutt to anyone looking to have a good time cleaning thier dog. read more

We drive all the way from Dedham every time to get her nails trimmed. Lucy is a reactive dog so we muzzle her just in case, I've never felt nervous or judged there. read more

I agree that Laudromutt is a bit on the pricey side. I've also never been there when there wasn't an extremely long wait. They do have a very nice setup and staff, so if you have a large dog and a small bathroom, this is a good alternative. But since bathing my dog is easy enough to do at home, I would really only make the trip to Laundromutt if she was extremely muddy (and when the weather has been wet, everyone else has the same idea, hence the long lines), or if I wanted her to have a toenail clipping in between groomings. read more

I've gotten my dog groomed here since she was a puppy and ---minus one time when Alana (the fabulous groomer!) moved for a bit and my dog got groomed by somebody else and looked like a plucked chicken, I'm not kidding folks--- she looks great each and every time. Alana is really amazing, accommodating and just downright sweet. The staff is really nice - my pup has some separation anxiety issues so I bring her in sometimes just for a treat so she doesn't associate it as the place she gets left, and they are always friendly. I've seen Alana and the owners out and about and they honk and wave and stop and say hello. They remember your name and your dog and do their best to run a good business. They have some stuff for sale in their front area and, if you are so inclined you can do a self-service dog wash or drop-off wash as well. read more

Wifey and I stopped here today to give Ellie, our female 20 lb beagle, a bath and have nails trimmed. We hadn't been here in a while, but we are familiar with the place and how it works. You check in at the front desk, staff takes you back to the doggie bath area with nice large, standing access baths, they give you shampoo of your choice, a scrub brush, chamois and a clean white towel. And basically you give your dog a nice bath and towel dry. There are water proof aprons that you can don to help yourself stay as dry as possible during the process. And I have to add that the staff are really friendly and do a great job of showing you how everything works. You can also pay to use their blow dryers if you want to go that route. Once your pooch is clean and dry, you go back to the front desk and check out (pay). Now on to the second half of our adventure: getting Ellie's nails and dew claws trimmed. I'll say that Ellie is particularly sensitive about having her paws handled. She doesn't bite, but she is quite the drama queen when having her nails clipped. She usually howls, makes a lot of noise and tries to escape from the totally painless procedure. However, on this occasion, Ellie was much calmer and did not howl or try to escape while getting her claws clipped. I believe this is because of the very calm and gentle manner in which Ellie was handled by Lydia, who did the trimming. Lydia is also the current store manager and she was also a very friendly and cheerful person, with a professional demeanor as well. Her staff, as I mentioned earlier, were also friendly and very helpful throughout our short visit. In summary, if you need a place to give your pooch a really thorough bath and a claw trimming, pay a visit to Laundromutt over near the Alewife shopping center in Cambridge. We love the place and will surely be back! read more

Dear Yelper Below me... I just want to Clarify that at Laundromutt, the prices are actually GREAT! I just moved to San Francisco... and your right you DONT want to know how much they charge here for grooming! Plus nail clippings are a whopping $15 on average. Yes. I did use to work for Laundromutt so I do have a biased opinion. However, working for a Salon on the east coast has brought allot of things about the industry to my attention. If you are the type of person who wants to leave your dog all day for the grooming while you work or run erins, thats great there are plenty of shops to ocomidate that. However, its rare to find a shop that can have your dog back with you so quickly because most are drop off at 9am and pick up at 5pm, like my current shop in San Francisco. I think its wonderful that Laundromutt can provide this service for dogs who don't do great being left all day. Also, Laundromutt WILL Brush your dog when a drop off bath is done... However if your dog is matted or requires allot of blow out ( Ridiculous amounts of shedding that require hours to remove) than an experienced groomer is required and the staff is mostly likely to refer you to their groomer Alana. Not to mention Alana is in high demand for her ability to work with extremely difficult dogs, as well as dogs with separation anxiety, also providing the option for a early or late pick up. Plus she's a superb groomer with years of dog experience under her belt. Laundromutt will always hold 5 stars in my heart! read more

I've been taking my two dogs to Laundromutt since it first opened. I've always had a great experience even when I brought my own shampoo and my own brushes. They weren't weird about it all. I especially like that they don't hover over me but are always willing to lend a hand particularly when I'm getting my 70lb. pooches into and out of the tubs. read more

Awesome! No more dog hairs stuck to every surface in my bathroom and wet footprints all over the house. Our last visit was a bit of an emergency - I really appreciated the convenience to the park and the general convenience of bathing a feces-covered dog outside of my house. I don't know what I would have done without you! read more

I searched pet supply stores all over Boston to find a waterproof collar for my mischievous puppy, and Laundromutt had a fantastic selection. Super friendly staff, and very clean! Also great selection of bones and treats :) read more

so $20 might seem like a lot to take a pup to get cleaned up, but for budderick it was well worth it. almond honey shampoo, blowdry, and the ability for bud to be around other dogs w/out feeling compelled to bite them. they give you a bib to wear and try to make it fairly untraumatizing (is that a word?) for the little guy. (though i'm not sure budderick felt the same since everytime we would walk by the place he would make a huge hoopla about avoiding the door) rip budderick. you're greatly missed. read more

I long to one day to be a dog mom but in the interim I like to help my friends. We brought Deakin after a long day in the muddy trails of the woods. He had been before and knew that he was getting a bath. They have parking in the back where you can enter right to the baths. We were greeted by friendly staff who made sure we were setup at a spot and ready to go. After putting on our aprons we chose a regular bath with no blow dry as he's fluffy enough. We were able to easily bath the dog and provide treats purchased in store for the good behavior. The store in the front has anything you could imagine your dog could need from food to toys to travel aids etc. I was amazed at the section. After a trial of several toys we decided on one to entertain is for the rest of the day. A great place to take tour dog for a treat or a cleaning! read more

I love it at Laundromutt, the staff are all really sweet, fun people who go above and beyond to help you out. Theo especially is really great, she took the time to educate me about raw diets for my dog and how she personally treats her own dogs. Plus my long-haired stinky girl came out of there smelling so good and it lasted almost three weeks!! Any haters can bite me ;) read more

These folks LOVE dogs. They were great with mine and were even able to cut his nails. (My dog had a bad experience at another pet shop and has been skittish about his nails since.) read more

My dog isn't crazy about going here to get bathed after he gets filthy walking through the woods, but it is a very convenient place to clean him up and the staff is always friendly. The store has nice goodies too. The prices are fairly reasonable, although it can add up quickly if, like me, you have a dog that likes to get dirty and requires multiple visits in a month. read more

My big greyhound was all gunked-up with foresty goodness after a camping weekend. We stopped at Laundromutt on the way home and got him a nice shampoo and nail clipping. It was my first time as a customer in any kind of dog-wash place, and I was exhausted and a little spaced-out from all that Central Mass fresh air, but the girls took all the uncertaintly and stress out of the equation and made it a pleasant experience. He didn't so much like being stuck in a tub, and wouldn't go back up again onto a table for the clipping, but they were great and did the nails on the floor instead. I'd like to find a place with a self-serve walk-in shower, but that is probably more in the 'spa' category and would require a larger space. For DIY in-and-out dog-wash, Laundromutt's the stuff. read more

Just had my dogs first grooming apt here! It was AMAZING. They took such good care of him and the hair cut was perfect!! My dog was more than happy to be there. =) I highly recommend going here!!! read more

After a very muddy afternoon romp at Nunziato, the wonder pooch, a friend and her puppy and I headed down to Laundramutt to give it a try. What a great experience! Friendly, helpful staff who know the balance of assisting and allowing you to do your own thing, warm, clean, inviting. They even had all our favorite Polka Dog treats out front. Decorated as cute as can be and super comfortable atmosphere put owners and dogs at ease. We will DEFINITELY go back . read more

After my most recent experience YESTERDAY at Dharma Dog... I can't say enough GREAT things about Laundromutt. We just moved and I'm looking forward to trying BYOD Newton. Congrats to the owners of winning me back by responding to my original yelp and being professionals. Looking forward to Larry the Bernese Mtn Dogs next bath. See you then. read more

Came here today for the first time based on the reviews by fellow Yelp'ers and boy was I disappointed. The place seems very disorganized and extremely over priced for what you get. Both the shampoo and conditioner are watered down and there was no ramp for my 90 lb lab to get into the tub. We had to ask for supplies as our station was not set up and it was so crowded that it was hard to move. This place totally survives based on the fact that there is not much competition around, but we definitely will not be back and highly recommend that others skip this place as well as it is a dud. read more

This place is fantastic. My dog hates getting her nails trimmed, and they had some tips for how to help her relax that really worked. And the wash your own dog station is amazing. So easy to use and saved my bathroom from the mess my dog makes when she gets a bath at home. And the price is great too! read more

This place is great! Friendly and helpful staff, excellent facilities, great selection of dog treats and toys. Will go back.

Competitive prices on dog food, great staff, and decent dog washing. It's my go-to in Cambridge.

My niece left us her dog for a couple of days. He smelt a little too much for me. So we took him to this place and washed and dried him. They were helpfull, showing us how to use the equipment; the place was clean and the people friendly. read more

Amazing staff! My dog was punked by a skunk and they let me in right as they were closing! They really saved me and my pups from what could've potentially an even more terrible night. The young woman who helped me knew what to do and what to recommend. Thank you so so much! I'll be back :) read more

Me and my husband had our anxious and terrified dog Boss groomed there. We had a bad experience with a groomer in our neighborhood, who after seeing me giving a treat to Boss, who was really scared, said: "We don't reward bad behavior!" Well, at Laundromutt it was nothing like that. I don't know what Monica did to him, but when we went to pick him up, he was calm and happy. She did a fantastic job! Most of the groomers just shave him down, but she actually took time to give him a nice looking haircut. We will be back there for sure. read more

My dog hates baths. Wrestling him in the tub is dangerous and painful. (he scratches me as he tries to climb out) I brought him to Laundromutt for a self-wash. It wasn't quiet, but it got the job done. He yelped a lot, as he always does with anything involving being drenched in water, but I was able to get a thorough shampoo. I will never underestimate the power of a specialized dog-grooming tub ever again. Having the dog leashed to a rail frees up your hands to actually focus on washing. Until we can train our dog to be comfortable with baths in our own tub, I will be bringing him to Laundromutt for self-washes. Also - the staff was very understanding about my dog's vocalizations. The shiba scream isn't pleasant for anyone, I know, but they didn't kick us out so kudos to them! read more

Laundromutt is the BEST thing for dog lovers. Funny how we treat our pets the way we treat our kids! or better!!!! This service provides a safe and sanitary place to bring your pet. Why use a tub at home when the right tools are available and easily accessible? It makes for a more pleasant experience. I have a dog groomer, but this is where my dog and I can get down and dirty or rather clean! Between groomings, when we have an occasional dig in the real dirt, I know that the Laundromutt is available. We did have one 'leg lifting' incident in the store but I am more mindful when we go in. It hasn't happened again. What is it with male dogs! My only downside on Laundromutt is that it's not opened on Mondays which is one of my days off from work. So Sundays are our day to take the plunge! When someone is doing work they love doing, it shows! Thank you Laundromut for your fine service. We love the Uba Spa. read more

This is absolutely one of the best dog places around. The staff was friendly and knowledgeable, and extremely accommodating to my skittish golden puppy! We took Ellie down the street to the dog park and got her all muddy and exhausted- and for $20 bucks we got her squeaky clean and blow-dried! Coming home to a nice clean bathroom and not having her shake relentlessly all over my house was well worth the $20! It was so much fun to do this with my boyfriend, and LaundroMutt provides everything you would ever need - aprons, soap, towels, brushes, etc. Additionally, they have the best toys and supplies for sale as well. My favorite brand, HuggleHounds, is tough to find but (not) surprisingly, they had them at LaundroMutt! Overall, a fantastic experience and well worth the money for the clean dog and fantastic experience. I can't wait to take Ellie back there! read more

Laundromutt is so much more than a dog grooming/self-washing place with thoughtfully selected dog foods and treats, carefully curated harnesses/leashes/collars, wonderful toys and more. It's part of the fabric of the community -- much in the same way that Porter Square Books is more than just a bookstore. The neighborhood wouldn't be the same without either place. Before I owned a dog, I would walk by Laundromutt, admiring the adorable dog toys in the window. Now that I have a dog, I visit frequently, washing my dog there, buying treats and toys, and having my dog's nails trimmed. The people of Laundromutt, particularly the manager, Lydia, and owner, Bitsy, have been invaluable to me as a new dog owner. They have offered sound advice, fit my dog for harnesses, and have shown my dog great affection as well. They truly have helped me to become a more confident and comfortable dog person. I highly recommend Laundromutt to anyone from Cambridge, Belmont, Somerville, Watertown and Arlington. And if you are further afield, it is still worth the drive! read more

This establishment is so wonderful... we have occasionally gotten our dog groomed here though they are not the regular groomer, and they always do a fantastic job. Today we took our dog out to swim and run around... suffice to say our cream colored Golden was a dark brown muddy mess, with hundreds of little burrs stuck to him. (He was the happiest dog!) Their self wash was a life saver... grooming appointments wouldn't be available for days or weeks, but we were able to take him right in and thankfully take our time cleaning him. The staff was very friendly and helpful. Our dog wasn't too happy with his wash and blow dry but we loved it! read more

Had my pooches nails trimmed today... Treated em great and had em calm which is rare... The manager there Monica took well care of us
