Bollywood Bowl
Alana M.

Bollywood bowl with kale instead of grains. Delicious, not really spicy as described in the menu. It was very filling and satisfying. Really great flavor and all the veggies very tender. Service was a bit slow (a couple people who ordered after us got their food before us) but very friendly.

Exterior of restaurant after closing

I am so grateful for the friendly and accommodating staff at my local Laughing Planet (Hollywood). Paige and Cyprus(sp?) were kind enough to hold my order for a few minutes past closing so I could get my sick kids their prescriptions at the pharmacy. My family absolutely loves Laughing Planet and my kids have grown up on it. Best food; best service! So glad you're in my neighborhood!

two bowls of food on a table

Went here for the first time after a hike and they had everything I was looking for. I got a chicken bowl (can't recall the menu name) and rate it a 4/5. It was pretty bland and the price was okay. I liked the environment, but will most likely not come back.

The bowl

Pros: friendly staff, good food, easy to find, good menu, decent prices Cons: my drive was 3 min from restaurant to office & my to go bowl started falling apart. Had to hold in the hot contents with hand & napkin. Almost didn't get to enjoy it. Get better to go dishes.

Veggie chili with onions/cheese/sour cream and kale salad
Angie C.

Traveling for work and the kombucha on tap and veggie menu made me journey over from the hotel. Placed my order (veggie chili and kale salad) with a kombucha and took my number to wait for my food. The kombucha was amazing, they ran out of the first flavor after half a glass and brought me a full glass of the new keg. Both were really delicious. While my food was being prepared I got a phone call with news of a family pet passing. I hadn't expected to burst into tears at dinner. The sweet staff member came from behind the counter very chipper and commenting on how amazing the chili smelled, saw my tears and immediately began to comfort me. Said it was the onions making me cry, which made me smile. I apologized for the unexpected tears and the moment she caught me in. She told me feelings are real and it was ok and let her know if I needed anything. A few minutes later she came back and brought me a cookie and asked if I liked chocolate. She said I deserved it and she genuinely hoped I had a better night. The food was delicious and in itself I would give this place 5 stars. The restaurant was clean and it felt comfortable and chill, great vibe and parking was a breeze. The hospitality and customer service in this raw moment were incredible. I haven't had this level of customer service in awhile. I could not be more appreciative of this person in this moment. Thank you again for your kindness, thoughtfulness and compassion. If I lived in Portland I would visit this establishment regularly from here on out. With the harshness of the world we need people like you who are the healers and beautiful souls. Thank for for hiring people who give love and light.

Bi Bim Bowl

This was surprisingly good! I didn't expect such freshness and flavors. Yes, it's bent on the healthier spin but there are so many choices that everyone can find something. Salads, burritos and bowls are the majority of their menu. They also have beer, wine and all sorts of fruit drinks and kombucha too! You order at the counter and they bring your food to you. I had to try the bi bim bowl and my husband decided to try the Santa Fe bowl. Mine had brown rice, marinated and flavorful beef, lots of broccoli and fresh lightly marinated pickles. No, it's not authentic bi bim bop but I wasn't under that illusion. It was still a tasty, flavorful bowl just the right size for a lunch. I had a bite of my husbands Santa Fe bowl with pulled pork. Delicious but a little watery at the end. I enjoyed the cleanliness and modern, funky decor. The people at the counter were nice and helpful. I would come here again when I don't want to stuff my face and feel like a pig.

Love the food. Healthy, filling, delicious. We usually order for pick up and it is ready in 10-15 minutes. And LP is affordable!

Proud Mary Coffee - Potato hash..

Proud Mary Coffee

Proud Mary in NE Alberta St, Portland…read more I was excited to come back home to Portland and hit up all my favorite spots in this week but I had to choose carefully because I wasn't taking on the Portland food scene alone, I'm bringing a friend with me who has never been to the city at all. I needed to set the bar high from day one. Proud Mary on Alberta Street was my first move, and it provided a light but delicious first meal paired with great espresso drinks. (And I needed to set the bar high for coffee in town because this friend own her own coffee shop in LA) This is the kind of place I bring people to when I want to show off what this city does best a casual environment with interesting food that doesn't take itself too seriously, in a space that just feels right. I went with the oatmeal and a side of hash, (a hash that has such a unique texture that I think about it pretty often now I love a unique potato eperince) but execution of the seasonal flavors in the oatmeal surprise me every time in the best way. They pay so much attention to detail of he flavor and presentation and that makes even humble dishes feel more special. My friend ordered the spring omelette and it was simple, it could have used a bit more flavor or texture or even an additional protien source but it was good non the less. When our cappuccinos arrived first, I remembered this is an Australian-owned café. Served with a dusting of chocolate powder the way an "apparently" proper Aussie capp should be. Both cups were genuinely excellent. For vegetarians, the menu gives you real options with actual thought behind them and of course their are so many dishes with meat that everyone can love, so that's a huge win for me Who it's for: first-time Portland visitors, coffee lovers, anyone who wants a brunch spot that earns its reputation. Strong start to any trip. Veg selection | Flavor execution | Value | Staff knowledge | Ambiance

I had the bambito geisha. The flavor profile was a bit too acidic for me. Also didn't taste like the usual geisha I like. Cute place and great service. French toast and pancake look bomb but didn't get a chance to try.

This place is built for volume. You can tell. Efficient layout. Assembly-line potential. If bowls were a factory sport, this would be a playoff team. Ordered the Home Grown. Took a quick bathroom break. Came back and -- boom -- bowl was already on the counter. FAST. And it looked elite. Then I saw it. A generous dollop of peanut butter at the top, sprinkled with hemp seeds. I almost got emotional. It felt like flying over your hometown after months away. Familiar. Safe. Right. First bite? Delicious. Smooth. Creamy. Almost like frozen yogurt or soft serve. Easy eating. Crowd-pleasing texture. And then... I looked up. Another bowl was being made. The açaí base was coming out of a soft-serve machine. As a purist, this one hurt. I want hand-scooped. Blender-blade symphony. Crafted, not dispensed. I had a small internal crisis. The design is quite fun-- all along the walls are mounted a number of fishbowl-type glass containers that hold plants. It makes the place feel very cozy and brings some life and color into the room. The person working at the counter was lovely. She was super enthusiastic, asked us questions about what we were doing, and provided recommendations for places to check out in the area. She made our drinks very fast-- I don't think we had to wait more than a couple of minutes. The drinks were very good. I got their lemon tea, and my partner got the sea salt cream tea. Mine was nice and sweet, his was not sweet at all (to both of our preferences). The one thing I didn't love is that their tapioca pearls were very soft. I like a little more chew to my boba, but I know that's personal preference. Overall, we had a great time and the customer service was excellent.

They had quite a bit of offerings both what you find at other places and some specialty ones. My boyfriend got their Brown Sugar Ube Bubble Milk Tea and I got their Tiki's Classic Tea. The drinks were made to perfection as it was refreshing and the right amount of sweetness. The drinks didn't take too long to receive, though they weren't too busy either.
