The WiFi is excellent here, and rarely slows down, making it a great place to work. The employees, however, are hit or miss... with some of my favorites coming from the younger ones. Also, the men's restroom door is somewhat damages and the bathroom could use some cleaning. The photos of sunsets are no joke, as the nearby pier and park both make for some absurdly beautiful sunsets and sunrises.

Otherwise, I'd need to take out 2nd and 3rd mortgages. The downside is new releases, and big-name authors usually are not included without paying a lot of extra $$. Not in this economy! My Solution- Enter my wonderful library and the synergy between them, and Amazon, and an awesome app called Libby. How it works- Make sure you have a library card. Download the free Libby app, enter your card number, and tell it you have Kindle Unlimited. Now, you can borrow a library book from the Libby app. If it's not available, the app will notify you when it is. Now, you can borrow it, and it will automatically appear as an eBook in your Kindle Unlimited library for free! Say what! That's very cool! Check my picture. That's my Kindle library and the Clive Cussler book is from my local library. Amazon would have charged me $10 but it's free to me. Crap you say, I don't have or want Kindle Unlimited. No problem. You can borrow a book in Libby and read it for free with Libby's built-in reader! It's all thanks to the original resources of your local library! As I mentioned, sometimes the library's copies of a very popular book will be all loaned out. Libby will notify you when a copy is available. Conclusion- In this economy, this is a 5-star experience with 0 extra outlays!

My son left his book unattended and our dog chewed it up when I went to explain to the librarian what happened she was so understanding. I paid for the book and told her that we would definitely be more careful in the future. My family definitely loves coming here. There are several computers to use and it has a decent amount of parking. It is always clean when I walk in and the kids section has toys, books, tables to draw on and computers for them to use. If you want a good book come to the Avon park public library!!!!

When you go in through the entrance there is a coffee shop on the left and then they have a used bookstore which was where we were headed. The actual library is through another set of doors to the right. We spent quite a bit of time in the bookstore going through the wide selection of used books they had available. I found one book on the racks they had out in front of it and then stumbled across three more I wanted while inside. All four of the books I bought happened to be Stephen King novels but they had a lot of other good choices. My kids picked up a couple of books for gifts as well while we were there. The people working the store were very friendly and helpful.

After living in the area for almost a year, we finally made the trek here to sign up for a library…read morecard. Unfortunately, this is the closest library to us and it's in what seems like a very sketchy area. The building is very rundown, carpets are filthy, and restrooms are extremely dirty. The selection is bleak at best. We did like that there was a completely separate kids area but that was the only thing that we liked about this library. The staff didnt acknowledge us until we went up to the desk and even then, the guy wasn't the friendliest. We got a card but I don't see myself coming back to this location unless it's to renew the card and have access to Libby.

Today was my first time in the library in a long time. For someone who just picked up a new habit…read morein late December and is on a budget, I needed an inexpensive way to continue reading books and preserving time. After looking online for the hours of operation on the weekend, especially a Sunday, and the requirements to get a full-access library card, I took my little family in. We were greeted by a nice young woman at the counter who smiled, welcomed us, and then proceeded to help us get our cards. Library cards are good for two years and then need to be renewed. Throwback to my last library card in 2014, I had to bring in a utility bill to show I was a resident of the county, today I just needed to show my DL. It was quick and easy to get my card. Downstairs are holiday books, audio, DVDs, magazines, fiction, nonfiction, adult graphics and teen graphics, restrooms, an elevator, a sensory room, and a few study rooms. Upstairs are meeting rooms, study rooms, a teenage section, computer access, adolescent books, preschool books, and a room for toddlers. It was a nice relaxing afternoon. With the all-access pass, I get up to 50 books per card, place 20 holds, check out for 21 days, and have 3 automatic renewals. I am also an educator, to get this pass, I had to show my teacher ID, and current paystub, and provide them with the address of my school. With this card, I get up to 100 books per card. Next time, I will use the online card catalog to find books or go in with a plan. Today, I was a bit overwhelmed and wasn't sure where to find titles. What I like is being able to go on the website and request/hold books and when they become available you'll get notified and have a time limit to pick up. I have already added 3 titles to my request list. :)

The lines were longer than I expected, but then again I went in right when they open the doors. The ladies in charge and the volunteers were helpful and they kept the tables full of books. There are plenty of parking space in the front of the library and they always have great events for the family.

The Lake Wales Public Library has been serving the community of Lake Wales since 1919. Like many…read moresmall communities in Florida of this time, the library started out as a Woman's Club civic project. The women accepted books and magazines and set up the first library on a shelf in their clubhouse. After the library outgrew the club it was moved to the Dixie Walesbilt Hotel in downtown Lake Wales and then to a room in the Lake Wales City Hall. In 1957 the Lake Wales Library Association/Friends of the Library was formed to raise money to build a library building. In 1960 the town library opened on Cypress Garden Lane, on the shores of Crystal Lake in 1960. The library was further expanded expanded in 1991. Today the library collection includes over 80,000 books, audiovisuals, kits, archives, periodicals, maps, clippings, and software. I really like small town libraries like this one that are the heartbeat of their community. It lends materials but the Lake Wales Public Library is also gathering place. In the lobby of the library is a beautiful mural of lake Wales most famous attraction, Bok Tower. In front of it is a detailed model of the tower encased in glass. Also in this part of the library is Ye Olde Bookshop selling a large selection of secondhand books. On the wall of the library there are paintings by local artists and archival photographs. Some of the programs the library is hosting this month include celebrating Native American History Month, chair yoga, needlework arts, and a teen creative writing club. This library is so charming and a has a beautiful view of lake Crystal from the windows. It is a great resource for education and culture in Lake Wales.

They had some 1-2 person tables and study spaces, but most were taken. I was lucky to find a chair to sit and work, but it would have been nice if there was a requirement to share the spaces, especially at tables that could fit at least 4.

When we arrived all the tables were in use except for one in the kids area. A woman was tutoring a young girl, but they kept the voices to a low medium. People were respectful and did not talk loud or talk on their phone. There are also tables outside. If you work in the area but live outside this county you can get a library card or get a card for a $40 fee.

I needed to go rent a book on thrifting and this library had it so I had to make my way on over…read more Parking is a little weird, I'll have to say. Our phone took us the back way to get to the library so we parked thinking we were at an entrance but it was just a side door so I blame that on my phone. Once we entered, it was very quiet and they had computers to access their catalog and using it was a breeze. Even finding the book was easy! I was in and out within 5 minutes. Self check-out was about the fastest I have ever experienced for a library and I was VERY impressed. We passed by a couple of staff and none seemed too friendly but we got what we needed and left so that wasn't a big deal. They even had a quiet room where you're in closed quarters and can be in peace which we thought was cool. I will be back for sure!
