I needed to go rent a book on thrifting and this library had it so I had to make my way on over. Parking is a little weird, I'll have to say. Our phone took us the back way to get to the library so we parked thinking we were at an entrance but it was just a side door so I blame that on my phone. Once we entered, it was very quiet and they had computers to access their catalog and using it was a breeze. Even finding the book was easy! I was in and out within 5 minutes. Self check-out was about the fastest I have ever experienced for a library and I was VERY impressed. We passed by a couple of staff and none seemed too friendly but we got what we needed and left so that wasn't a big deal. They even had a quiet room where you're in closed quarters and can be in peace which we thought was cool. I will be back for sure! read more

Libraries are incredible and anyone who buys books is a tool. Do you know Jeff bezos makes two hundred fifty million dollars A DAY?! And we plebs are begging for the library to be open past 6 while we drive on shitty pothole roads. We need to forcibly divorce that man's money from his bald head and give it entirely to this library. They do all sorts of classes, readings for little kids, everyone is way more friendly than necessary. And you can get free books! What the hell!!! Why is anyone buying things anymore. Ahhh, the library. It's definitely a dying breed in this modern age, but always seems to be a fun and nostalgic experience. Much like the one near the house that I grew up in, this is a full service library, only much much larger. There's a large array of public computers that you can use, should you need to summon Google while getting your studies completed. There's also a separate library just for kids in the back, which is a brilliant concept to keep the general population quiet, and to let them roam around in their own area (there's a library staff person monitoring it at all times, so parents can feel safe to leave them should they need to get anything done). What's also cool is that this library has a bunch of separate rooms that are closed off, and can be used for meetings or get togethers, as well as rooms dedicated for the hard core studiers who demand "A Quiet Place" (the requirement of absolute silence is pasted onto the outside doors). There are also computer labs, and other areas that seem to be specifically for students. In other words,it's pretty evident that a lot of thought and planning went into the overall design of this place, which is good to know since my kids are getting close to high school age. There is also a free fax machine that you can use, as well as several printers (I must admit that the printers weren't very good, and could definitely use an upgrade), just make sure not to forget your library card/ID. Even if you do, there are plenty of extremely friendly staff members stationed around to help, so you always feel accommodated. read more

The children's section here is very gray and uninviting. No big soft chairs, stuffed animals or a children's librarian. A few tables and computers. Because this room is at the back of the library, it seems to be a hangout for adults talking loudly, eating or charging their phones. This library has a lot of potential, but needs some love. read more

It's a good place to sit and work. The selection may not be the greatest, but I prefer digital downloads most of the time anyway. One of the better libraries in Hillsborough county. New furniture is great but it's filthy, wish they would take time to clean it. Librarians not very friendly and seem bothered when you ask for assistance. Large community room is great and they have smaller conference rooms you can use for free. Generally it's loud, wish they had more quiet areas. read more

This is the little library that could. It has a gorgeous entrance that leads into a pristine interior with a simple, uncomplicated layout. The tiled foyer houses two group conference rooms, the restrooms, and a donation-based bookstore. This bookstore, like the library itself, may appear small, but with regular visits, I have literally amassed four moving boxes full of high quality literature at a fraction of a fraction of a shadow of their retail value. Not only do I get to reap the frenzied book collector benefits, but I get to rest easy at night knowing I am supporting my local library! Inside of the library proper, you have the reception desk to the right - always staffed with obvious hard workers - and the glass-enclosed young readers' room. The far right wall is comprised of a Genealogy room, group study room, and computer lab. The rest of the library is shelves and computers, very clearly marked and easily navigable. If you cannot find what you're looking for, simply log on to the HCPLC catalog and request your item from any library in the Hillsborough County Cooperative and have it shipped to this branch for pickup, free of charge! I love this library. All the staff members are helpful and most are just downright sweet--particularly Chrissy. :) I love my local library and stop in regularly. The Life Story Writing Program is a fantastic part of this library, and I would recommend it to anyone. The selection is great here, and since it is part of the Hillsborough County network, you can tap into the other libraries' resources and pick up holds at this one. read more

After living in Florida for four years now, I finally got around to getting a library card today. This branch was closest to my house, so here I am. Getting the card required only my license and about three minutes of my time. Off to a good start! The set up inside is quite nice. Clean, quiet, ample room and computers. I didn't check out the children's section, but liked that it was closed off and separate. As a mom of four that's something I would have really appreciated when my kiddos were young and not always library appropriate quiet! The only disappointment (and the reason for 4 rather than 5 stars) was the selection seemed a bit small. I came looking for four specific books. Two they had, two they did not. The Liberian however was very helpful in tracking them down and having them sent to this location for me to come pick up in a few days. I can live with that! There's also a small room to purchase used books at a discounted price and the proceeds go toward various programs here at the library. The self checkout was a breeze and parking is ample with a bin for dropping off books. Overall it's a great little place with a very friendly and helpful staff. I'll definitely be back! read more

Definitely above average for a suburban library, the covered driveway out front protects in the storm. It appears to have been built or renovated recently. Quiet place to work or just relax with a good book. Actually on the south side of Valrico in the small Bloomingdale neighborhood. read more

dont bother coming here for quiet time. even to the rooms specifically labelled for no conversations and no cell phones. second weekend in a row with this old guy reacting to what hes reading on the internet and wanting to converse with whoevers next to him. And after chastising him for it a woman walks in carrying on a phone conversation. Barnes and Noble here i come. read more
