I am deeply disappointed by the quality of care and dining services at this facility, especially…read moreconsidering the price of nearly $8,000/month. Many residents, according to conversations, are unhappy & have been looking to move elsewhere. The overall dining experience is consistently poor, and the food quality is far below what should be expected from an assisted living community. Meals are often nearly inedible: squash soup is watery, biscuits overly salty, and both chicken & red meat are so dry they can't be chewed. Breakfast items, like English muffins, arrive well after the rest of the meal is finished. Pancakes crumble from dryness & are in-edible, and dinners sometimes consist of nothing more than 1 piece of French toast, 1 pancake, and 2 strawberries. Portions are extremely small, leaving residents hungry and lacking nutrition. When residents ask for additional food, they're told there is no more (i.e. recently residents asked for an extra English muffin & were told there's no more) Unlike other facilities, Christopher Heights does not offer multiple meal options, so residents here often must accept the single dish served or settle for runny eggs. Requests for alternative meals are frequently forgotten, leaving residents without anything to eat except an extra biscuit. In one case, a resident's Thursday dinner that was missed was served to them for Friday dinner, soggy and unappetizing. Many have resorted to living off peanut butter and jelly, which is unacceptable for a senior care environment. Basic items such as mayo, jelly, and condiments are limited to a single packet, and when residents ask for more, they're told no more is available. Coffee requests are routinely ignored, and most times, never brought at all. Bread is consistently dark, hard, and unappealing, with no variety. There is no fresh fruit (fruit cups do not count) or salad options, further reducing nutritional balance. Also, the dining staff will remove plates prematurely, even when food is still on them. Overall, the combination of poor food, limited portions, lack of choice, inattentive service, and the number of residents who are unhappy paints a deeply concerning picture. For the cost, families expect dignity, nutrition, and responsiveness--not frustration and hunger. I cannot recommend this facility based on what I've witnessed and heard from multiple residents.

Upon entering Christopher Heights my Mom marveled about how beautiful it was (it was brilliantly decorated for Christmas) and said "Wow, this is like a fancy hotel." My Mom's initial sadness about leaving her home quickly disappeared when she became engaged with people her own age, the plentiful activities at Christopher Heights, such as Bingo, trivia, sing-alongs and her favorite, the live entertainment. Compassionate companions attend to my mother's needs, taking her to the dining hall for prepared meals that she loves, keeping her room clean, assisting her daily needs and showing great concern for her safety. I unequivocally recommend Christopher Heights of Webster as a top notch assisted living facility.

I never ever have written a review on Yelp, but I feel so strongly about Middlewood's of Newington…read morethat I had to take a minute to tell you about our experiences there. The staff is friendly, knowledgeable and caring, I mean really caring and sweet. The food is delicious, healthy and there is plenty of it. If residents don't like food they just have to ask and another food will be made for them. There are all kinds of activities and excursions with plenty of staff to help; and they throw some of the best parties I have ever been too. Medical staff is on hand which is very helpful. My grandmother arrived and was very scared (she lived in her home over 65 years) I swear within a day or two she really started to love the place. She has made many friends. What I like best is that we don't have to worry about her. We don't have to spend the weekend, doing laundry, cleaning and help with her showering. We get to spend quality time with her. That's the best feeling in the world. The place has just upgraded the place, new carpets, new paint, new furniture everything is spotless and beautiful Kathy Braga is the Chief Fun Fairy and Director of Middlewood's. She runs a tight ship with lots of love. She makes everything run seamlessly. My grandmother has long term care insurance and they gave us so much trouble to get them to pay for my grandmothers care. Kathy dug in and we got the result we wanted they'd pay for her care. I don't believe that we would have gotten the same conclusion with out her. We love her, we love the place and we are very, very happy.

The rooms are very comfortable and the hallways resemble a college dorm with small tables of knick knacks and seasonal decorations. My mom gets her hair, nails and pedicures done on the premises. Also on the premises is a geriatric doctor and psychiatrist, both of which my mom sees. There are activities every day and also a van that takes residents to doctor appointments, the store as well as field trips and Wii bowling competitions with other assisted living communities. There's something for every level of care for seniors and I am very happy to have my mom living there.

From the first week she moved in, they increased her monthly fee by thousands of dollars because she needed additional care. I would have agreed to it if they provided the care that they promised, but they did not. And once you are there, you are stuck paying the extra costs until you can get your loved one out. We had to hire private care to come in to care for our mother until we could find a better facility. Management does not care. We met with them several times, but nothing changed. My mother suffered many UTIs and a fall under their care, and several visits to the hospital. She was not like this when she first moved in. Neglect of general and hygiene care put her deeper and deeper into poor health. One example: My mother fell from her bed in the early morning. An aide came in and saw her on the floor. She looked at her but did not bend down to see if she was okay. The aide left and came back 15 minutes later with help. 15 minutes! I would not recommend this facility if your loved one needs assistance.

If that's true, why are you constantly calling trying to get us to sign on the dotted line? Why not just go to the first name on this supposed waiting list? This facility did not even have my mom sign the contract even though she was perfectly capable of making her own decision to contract with a stay at home service just a week before and to sign the documents herself. Instead, they allowed her grandson to sign for her and to commit her to over a hundred thousand dollars a year. She didn't completely understand all of the extra fees. Almost nine thousand dollars a month for the most basic of care and you charge for phone and cable? You have extra fees for laundry to be done? She said, "They don't even provide toilet paper." When I asked how much it would be if my mom needed to be wheeled in a wheelchair to get to her meals etc., I didn't get a straight answer. It was, oh we'll reevaluate. We just can't say. They also charge $5,000 for you to even move in. When I asked what this was for, they said it's standard to charge for the nurse to sit with the resident and make a plan. Really? $5,000? The at-home service did that for free before she even signed their contract. Sounds like the sales person is getting a nice big commission.

Everyone is very friendly and respectful. My only complaint is a few years ago they switched food providers for the Cafe and the food and service is a bit below average. Just like the government, there is no competition in this market so I understand why. I can't speak for the dining room as I hardly go there. Although rather expensive, I would recommend this place for a nursing home with attentive staff and people who truly care!
