We ordered at the bar and I got a She Spicy (basically a spicy margarita,) and vegan nachos no cheese (I don't need it, but it had salsa and black beans and I added Butternut squash. YUM. Yes please and thank you!!! My daughter got vegan nachos with vegan cheese and added jalapeno. My son got vegan nachos with just beans and vegan cheese. My son got RC cola and my daughter asked for an Italian Soda. The staff is SO caring and kind and I honestly feel like I'm at a friend's house except that I'm being served. We started working on the game and instructions and one of the lovely ladies came over and said that Italian Soda usually has milk in it (I never knew this!!) And she said she noticed we were vegan so would we like it without? I said yes please!! I thought that was SO considerate!! My son doesn't usually eat as well as his sister, and if she has ANY type of Mexican food she eats twice as much, if not more, than he will. So while I ordered her a full nacho, I ordered him a half order. He wanted more so on the second order the other lovely lady suggested salsa (which I encouraged and said yes to,) as they had run out of dairy free cheese. He tried the salsa but in typical fashion, pouted and said NO I didn't want it on all of the nachos. (insert mom sigh and heavy eye roll.) The sweet lady overheard us and said I can remake it if he would prefer that. And he said yes please. And then he said "wow they are so caring and nice here! That was so kind to offer that!" To which I said YES you're right!! By the end of our evening both kids were saying they loved Senet because the staff are SO kind and friendly. A dive bar, especially a great one, doesn't have to make much of an effort to convince you of its merits. My Place looks absolutely frightening from the outside, to the point that if it wasn't located it Forest Grove, I'd have it pegged as a mob joint. There are two small, high windows, one sign (that isn't for the lottery), and a solid wooden door that looks as if it exists to repel battering rams. And inside? It looks like a place that was designed to ride out Prohibition. Your decor's mostly the bar, woodwork, and vintage coolers, along with some pool tables and lottery machines. It's lit largely by Christmas lights and distributor-supplied neon. It's an old card room turned lottery bar. But amid the cheap pours of Pabst and Widmer and cans of Hamm's and Keystone is a bar menu that puts a town full of far newer competitors to shame. We're what, two breweries in at the other place across the street and nobody on this block has managed a burger better than My Place? This grill and this recipe must be guarded with as many lives as we can throw at them, because this thing rivals OG Stanich's. Meanwhile, between the steak special, the reuben, and the fact that you can get a club sandwich here at just about any hour--and get everything at insanely reasonable cost--I don't know why I keep putting myself though the aggravation of crossing the street to its neighbors. I wouldn't want to have my wedding reception here but it's a good place to stop for a brew. The food is surprisingly good although I wouldn't stray too far from the bar food standards... sandwiches, burgers, fish and chips. They have an extensive pizza menu although I've never tried one there. It's a club sandwich or a burger for me. They have a LoggerBurger that is not for children and you definitely won't be hungry once you're done, assuming you can even finish it. Wait staff experience has varied. No complaints on this go-around. They have a little outdoor patio which is where you'd want to head if it gets noisy inside (or if you don't care to eat and drink in a dark cave). I can see why Prius owners might not like this place much. I've been to better myself. But it's better than "ok" if you are a greasy Biker like me hence the four stars. I've never been here after dark but the place has the vibe where you might want to just sit there quietly lest some townie take offense at your presence and things could go sideways quickly. Or not.
