When we arrived, they reserved half the restaurant for us and there was only one other small group there for drinks. There was only 2 staff working (one was new too) but they were very accommodating. The drinks were very aesthetic and yummy. The food wasn't bad. I enjoyed the garlic Parmesan fries ($10.50) with the ketchup and mustard. The grilled cheese bites with tomato basil marinara ($12) was also a favorite. Some mentioned the portion of the prosciutto bites and cheese boards were a little small. Just by nature of our large group, those that didn't pre order before hand had to offer after the food came out and unfortunately the kitchen ran out of some items! The second person, feeling uncomfortable, decided not to leave a tip at all. The waitress seemed annoyed and then handed me the card machine, saying I could "cover the tip on their behalf." I was honestly embarrassed by how pushy it felt. I ended up selecting the highest preset tip option just to avoid further awkwardness, but she even encouraged me to use the custom tip button to pay more. Is this kind of behavior acceptable? I always thought tipping was optional and based on the service -- is it becoming compulsory now? I honestly love the place, the ambiance the food but just for one experience I will never go back and won't recommend to my friends.
