Most offer mediocre lighting, poor insect traffic, and zero ambiance. Hope & Olive, however, continues to set the gold standard for frog fine dining. I arrived yesterday evening and secured a prime outdoor window-side table (vertical seating available for amphibian guests). The view was excellent, featuring lush greenery, attentive human patrons, and a climate-controlled observation deck. The appetizer selection was promising. Several small flying items passed through the area, but I decided to hold out for something more substantial. Excellent decision. Approximately midway through service, an enormous grasshopper practically launched itself onto a decorative hanging orb provided by management. I was immediately impressed by Hope & Olive's commitment to fresh, locally sourced ingredients. The entrée did put up a bit of a struggle. However, after a brief period of strategic positioning, professional stalking, and one lightning-fast procurement maneuver, I was able to enjoy the entire grasshopper. Portions are very generous. In fact, the meal was nearly as long as I am. Service was outstanding. The nearby humans appeared fascinated by my dining experience and refrained from interrupting me while I consumed an insect roughly the size of a canoe. After dinner, comfortably stuffed, I retired to the interior of the decorative orb for what can only be described as a food coma. It served as an excellent after-dinner lounge. As for the human food, judging from the smiles, laughter, and complete lack of attempts to steal my grasshopper, it appeared to be quite good as well. Pros: Farm-to-frog dining Excellent grasshopper acquisition opportunities Beautiful garden views Comfortable post-meal napping accommodations Curious but respectful human audience Cons: Grasshopper only appears once per evening Difficult to fit into your mouth, but that's a "me" problem Would hop here again. Eugene, a cool cat, pours and manages the music scene, which is another nice surprise: encouraging live, local acoustic performers. You rassle it out with the patrons opinion and their jukebox dollars and, if you're any good, you can win! A very nice room, excellent staff and custom cocktails, I'm reliably informed.

My buddy could have it being gluten free. I didn't even notice it was gluten free. Deliciously cooked. The last thing we ordered were the shrimp and grits the maple flavor to it was awesome. The shrimp were plump and cooked correctly and the grits would not mushy at all. I was very surprised and loved to finish with this meal The one downside is I did order a martini and it did come about half the size that I was used to but it was only $10 as well. So delicious! Dirty martini just a little small but I didn't want to order two. I think you're going to be quite pleased if you ever are going through turners falls or if you live there and drop on in the whole dinner for the four dishes and two drinks was about $85 with the 20% tip so it's not cheap but the food is good

It was evening I was tired from driving 9 hours, the owner scrambled to find a working remote from the other rooms. I just wanted to watch a movie and fall asleep. He returned with a remote and most all of the channels were infomercials. I watched a movie on my cell. The next morning I found dirty used wash cloths. My girlfriend upon arrival found excrement in her toilet but I had so highly recommended the place she was hesitant to tell me. I had sold the place to her, even canceling a previous booking. The following night we came back late as we'd been to a theatre performance. My TV didn't work at all, didn't even turn on. I was tired and didn't feel like having the owner come by and try to fix it. I called him upon departure never to receive a return call. I sent a letter to him and called to follow up the following weekend. He said he never received it. Broke out into a rage never letting me speak dropping the f bomb probably 20 times and accusing me of smoking in the room which I did not do. I'm so courteous about my habit I EV pick up my cigarette butts outside. He was clearly working the bar as he always does. I've since read reviews where dog poop was on the carpet from previous guests, dirty linen on the beds and much more. The place has amazing ambiance and history and the restaurant is wonderful. It's too bad it's gone downhill. I used to enjoy it there while visiting my family nearby.
