We found the Vermont Marketplace & Bar 580 on our way out of town, a mix of shops all in one big…read morespace. It was a Monday 3:45pm hard to find many shops open in Brattleboro, or this area. We did stop at The Marina to eat but stood at the host desk waiting for someone to greet us for 10 minutes and we just kept being ignored by servers walking thru so we decided to walk out of The Marina and keep going. (Note to self, make Mondays in Vermont for driving, or nature, & less to-do activities). At Bar 580 a really friendly bartender/server made for a very welcoming experience. Sorry I didn't catch his name. The menu had a lot of burgers and sandwiches and salads. We had a tasty Ruben sandwich, great fries and a bowl of 580 Mac n cheese (with bits of diced jalapeño pepper and creamy local Grafton cheddar cheese! This was great tasting casual dining. For fun we enjoyed playing billiards on the 2 smaller tables up front. The sun-streaming & huge outdoor space on the back patio looked inviting, facing the woods and a fire pit. (but I request better seating other than only the picnic tables please) Thanks again to the Monday afternoon bartender for the friendly Vermont hospitality! Oh and make sure to visit the shop across the way for fun souvenir items before heading home.

I am a 5' young woman and I admittedly made the mistake of sitting on a pool table to make my shot since I couldn't reach due to my height. Right after I get down (ten seconds later) the comedian (a tall, large male) starts yelling at me. I have never played pool in a bar before so I didn't know that they were strict about that sort of thing, but I immediately apologized. Less than a minute later a woman (presumably a manager) yells at me again and I apologize again. THEN the comedian announces to the entire bar what happened and starts making fun of me, even though I did nothing at all to provoke him. My boyfriend and friends who were there too stood up for me and the comedian starts yelling at them too. I try to calmly explain what happened but the woman just screams for us to leave or else she'll call the cops. Mind you, this is all because I made the mistake of sitting on a pool table for ten seconds to make my shot. I'm a tiny 5' woman who by no means would have damaged the table and I apologized immediately and didn't argue one bit until they started attacking my friends. All in all, I was baffled by this experience as the staff reacted as if I had maliciously attacked someone with a pool cue rather than the reality. Also as we were willingly leaving, I tried to close the door behind me since I was the last one out but the comedian slammed it back open, hitting my leg. Safe to say I will not be returning to this establishment.

The beers are really on the cheap side- $4 Modelo and $3.50 Bud Light. The facility is clean aa well as the restrooms. We were there for the live band that played from 7 to 10 on a Saturday. Highly recommend!!!
