From the moment I walked in the door I just had the right feeling about LasikPlus. The office staff greeted me with a warm smile and friendly demeanor. I didn't have to wait long for my consultation to get started. I watched a DVD that described the LASIK process with easy to understand graphics. Lisa and Dr. Dao saw me through the entire consultation process. They happily answered all of my questions and believe me, I had a lot of them. I even sent e-mails and made phone calls with questions I thought of after the fact, and they were answered in a timely manner. I also liked that at times when I called, Dr. Dao would actually answer the phone personally, which spoke volumes. I don't know about you, but it makes me feel good to speak directly to a doctor when I have a question. After my consultation, I was presented with a folder that had all the information about the LASIK procedure, process, pricing, doctor/surgeon education background, along with his awards, recognition and experience. The folder also contained all of the paperwork that you would sign on the day of the procedure so you could read it ahead of time. Everything and everyone was so organized and it just seemed so smooth and easy. I did consider two other doctors for my LASIK, Dr. Updegraff in St. Pete, and Dr. Desai at The Eye Institute of West Florida. I met them both and they are each very nice. I'm sure they are great, trustworthy doctors. Dr. Updegraff has been around for a long time and has many awards/certificates all over his wall. I choose not to go with him because I felt his price was too high. I was referred to Dr. Desai by my regular optometrist that I have seen since I was 7 years old. However, the reason I did not select to go to Dr. Desai at The Eye Institute of West Florida is because the place was busy, and packed with people. It took a two month wait to get in for the appointment and when I got there it is a huge building packed full of people with appointments. The funny thing is, they told me they were in their slow season. Now, there might be something to be said that maybe because there were so many people there, that they are trusted and reputable. What I took into consideration is that fact that if I experienced any sort of problem with my eyes or vision I wanted to be able to get in quickly for an appointment. Both facilities had very nice people and friendly staff. I also took into consideration the type of lasers each facility uses. All of them use the femtosecond excimer laser. The main difference between LasikPlus and the Eye Institute of West Florida is just the brand difference of the laser they use to cut the corneal flap. Eye Institute of West Florida uses a VICTUS brand laser which from my understanding even though it can be used for LASIK it is usually used for patients being treated for cataracts. LasikPlus uses an Intralase brand laser to cute the flap. In my research I learned they are both really good and essentially do the same thing just in a slightly different way. I did not find out what brand Updegraff uses. If you feel the need to have further understanding of this I'm sure a doctor can explain it much better than me. The reason I was so detailed about my research is because my particular career depends heavily on my ability to see well. Another difference I noticed at LASIKPlus vs. the other two locations (which seems to bother some people) is I didn't get to meet Dr. Groden during my consultation. I took this into consideration and I figured that everything else about the LASIKPlus experience was so spot on, that not meeting him wasn't that big of a deal. He does introduce himself in the DVD you watch when you get there. They also give you so much literature about him as well. I did read reviews about him online and everyone said he is really nice, which he is. He will come in and speak with you right before the procedure. He will even coach you through the procedure. Dr. Groden at LASIKPlus has all kinds of awards on the wall. He was recognized in a magazine as being one of "The Best Lasik Surgeons in America." I recognize the article because I recall seeing them in many beauty magazines, as well as in the back of the magazines they often put in the setback pocket on commercial flights. In order to be recognized in a magazine like that, the doctors are peer-nominated and/or selected by top doctors or providers. Dr. Groden did a great job on my surgery. 4 hours after my procedure I could see great. I went from a -6.00 to seeing 20/15 with both eyes. I WORE glasses for about 25 years. I am 35 and had been contemplating LASIK for years. I finally decided to pull the trigger and went in for a free consultation with LasikPlus based on word-of-mouth review from a friend. I went in on a Monday and had the surgery the same Friday. The consultation was amazing. The staff was incredibly friendly and I didn't feel rushed or pressured during any of the process. They said to give them 90 minutes, but I ended up taking over 2 hours because I asked a lot of questions and wanted to understand the process. They were completely understanding and elaborated on every detail and made me feel very comfortable about everything going on. I had LASIK. I started prescribed eye drops two days prior to surgery. The day of the surgery was a breeze and absolutely no surprises. I showed up for my appointment, we went over paperwork, I asked more questions (sorry, LasikPlus staff!), and they were always so kind. I signed paperwork, went ahead and signed up for interest-free payments (took all of 10 seconds), and watched two other people get the procedure ahead of me (you can see from the lobby). I did another round of tests to make sure the consultation tests were the same, then I met with Dr. Groden prior to surgery. With him, there was no such thing as a dumb question and he was so friendly and confident -- he really helped calm the nerves. The surgery felt like it took all of 10 minutes at most. Dr. Groden was in contant dialog talking you through every step, which was comforting. He finished the surgery, shook hands with appreciation, and walked out the clinic with supplied sun-glasses (girlfriend picked me up). I took a five hour nap and woke up with cloudy vision (normal) but could see far away details. I went in the next day (Saturday) for the checkup and was reading the 20/15 line with no issue! It is Wednesday as of this review and the cloudiness has mostly subsided and I see some glare from lights (particularly at night). Again, I was told this is all normal and will subside in weeks/months. I have my next checkup tomorrow. I am very happy with my results and am truly grateful for the exceptionally professional and friendly staff at LasikPlus. After 2 years contemplating on whether to go in for the consultation or not, I finally went in on Tuesday, 8/9/16. I was told that I am a candidate and they gave me time to think about having the procedure. I decided right then that I didn't want to put it off much longer, so I asked when the soonest possible date for the procedure was. They had 4 appointment slots open on Thursday, so I decided I would go ahead and book my appointment. I went in very nervous because this was a procedure dealing with my vision and of course all of the possible side effects really scared me. I was so amazed at how wonderful the staff were. They really make sure you are comfortable. The most amazing part is that they have a large window dividing the surgery room and the waiting room. I was able to watch someone else having the procedure, so that I know what to look forward to. Right before the procedure, Dr. Groden comes in to introduce himself and talks to me about the entire procedure. He walks me in the surgery room and directs me to the patient bed. He coached me through the entire procedure. He was really nice and very informative. The procedure was so quick and there wasn't any pain. I felt some discomfort but it was only for about 10 seconds. When I stepped out of their office, I was able to only see with some blur. I arrived home and slept for about 4 hours. When I awoke, I could see perfectly. Today is Friday 8/12/16, the day after my procedure, I have some scratchiness but I can see with no problem. I am extremely happy with my results. Thank you Dr. Groden and staff. 31 year old male wearing glasses for 23 years and contacts for 16+ years. Finally decided to make the leap and have lasik surgery after much research on the procedure and selecting a doctor. I chose Dr Groden because of his experience...... This guy has done over 45000 lasik procedures and has had it done on himself. (Research dr Groden, his qualifications are quite extensive). The entire process was no hassle. Went for my consultation and the staff was incredibly professional, personable, and helpful with any questions I had, even the "stupid" questions lol. After my consultation I came back 8 days later for the procedure. Again the staff was very friendly, and guided me through the pre procedure exams, paperwork, and finally the procedure itself. Dr Groden was very friendly and told me exactly what I would be seeing, hearing, and experiencing during the procedure. Before I knew it I was done (maybe 15 minutes). 6 hours after a nap post procedure I could see clearly. 24 hours after the procedure at my checkup I could see 20/15 in both eyes. Absolutely amazing. I was 20/400+ in both eyes WITH astigmatism in both eyes before lasik. Right now is day 2 post procedure and my vision is incredible. It's awesome to wake up and not have to fumble around for my glasses or go put my contacts in. I am a very skeptical person. I research almost everything from fuel prices to product reviews before I make any purchase. My research has definitely paid off with choosing Dr Groden and his staff. read more

Consultation took hours so bring games or something to entertain yourself. The staff is outgoing!! The place have a coffee & tea bar which was awesome. They will test your eyes as if you're in to see a regular eye doctor. Once they approve you then you'll set up a date that works best for you. Very flexable schedule. The day of the procedure someone will go over paperwork & the procedure with you. Once your in the room, the Doctor will tell you step by step what he is doing. So don't worry as much as your thoughts are running through your head. Yes there will be pressure on your eyes and learn how to breath steadily. I know I was freaking out a bit but honestly it's not that bad. The eye numbing drops works wonders!! Sooo NO pain at all. You won't feel what they are doing to your eyes. After everything is done, your vision will be fuzzy (bring a hat or something to cover your eyes because the Florida sun still affects your eyes even if it's closed with sunglasses). I fell asleep when I got home but I did feel some discomfort and those eye drops really does the trick. Also I had to wear glasses top bed and I didn't notice I had it on. Which is awesome. I'm going to take Melatonin to sleep through the night comfortably. That's my experience and it wasn't bad during the surgery. After Surgery is when you'll feel discomfort but what surgery isn't? Come in with positive vibes, trust your Doctor, and look forward with corrected vision. read more

I had LASIK here last Friday. It was a great overall experience. The procedure is weird, and a little uncomfortable, but goes really fast. I was able to see better right away. BUT. The next few hours were very painful!! I say this to prepare you, take Advil with you and you might also consider NyQuil. That helped a lot, though since no one suggested it beforehand I had to get all the way home first. The drops they give you help after that, there is still some dryness and scratchiness that goes away a bit more every day. That said, it's legitimately life-changing to be able to see clearly without contacts or glasses!!! This surgery WORKS. I read some of the other not so great reviews and here are my thoughts: this is important. You really don't want to go in a hurry, to a doctor who's in a hurry, or to an empty office (what does that say, yikes!). You also don't want to go in for discount surgery (regardless of the ads, which are very specific to a prescription and contract length - read the fine print). We're talking about your eyes, people, you need them!! I was comforted that the office was crowded and if that means waiting, OK. I actually didn't have a wait that bothered me at all during any visit. I would have liked to hang out and watch HGTV a little longer before the procedure to let the Valium to kick in, candidly, but I was equally happy to get out of there. :). Let me start off by thanking Dr. Groden, and his amazing staff, here at the LasikPlus Tampa location. From my consultation, to my Lasik surgery, everyone has been extremely helpful, and answered all of my questions and concerns. This past Saturday, I was at LasikPlus to have my Lasik procedure done, and I can honestly say that my vision is a thousand times better than when I went into their office, and I've been told that it will get even better! As I am currently writing this review, I am doing so for the first time, since I was a kid, writing anything without wearing glasses or contact lenses. I am beyond blown away by the magic Dr. Groden worked on my eyes, and cannot thank him enough, he even called me later that evening to see how I was doing, not his staff, but himself, I really appreciated that. Anyone thinking of changing their lives and getting Lasik surgery, I say do it. It's only been a couple of days since my procedure, but it's already one of the best choices that I have ever made! The procedure was smooth, and pain-free. They provide you with post-op instructions, as well as goodies for your eyes during the healing process! From the moment I walked into LASIK Plus of Tampa I was greeted by smiling faces and a professional staff. I did not wait too long for the initial eye testing and the ladies who performed the tests were extremely friendly and knowledgeable, answering all my questions. The day of the surgery I was still a little skeptical about the procedure, but prior too, Dr. Groden came into the waiting room for the next patient in lines and personally introduced himself and explained the whole procedure from start to finish. He asked if I had any more concerns or questions before we started. During the procedure the only discomfort I felt was pressure which they advise you of several times prior, but had no pain what so ever during the procedure. Your only participation during the procedure is to keep your eyes open (no squinting!) which they of course assist with AND following a green, blinking light with your eye while the red laser performs the surgery. Dr. Groden is a wonderful professional and has simply changed my life with his procedure. I woke up the very next morning with 20/15 vision. His amazing staff are also I vital part to this whole life changing experience. I advise any and all people, young old and everyone in between, who are sick and tired of contacts or wearing glasses like I was to undergo this medical procedure! I opened my eyes this morning and could read the alarm clock!!! This is the most amazing thing to me, since I haven't been able to do that in about 20 years! I don't think it's possible for me to say enough about LasikPlus and five stars is not enough! I went in for a consultation and was immediately impressed with the staff and doctors and went home that day with a schedule in hand for my procedure. I am a very nervous person, so had second and third thoughts about it, and finally called to try and get some reassurance and was very surprised when they told me to come back in. They spend way more time holding my hand and answering the same exact questions for me until I was very comfortable with everything. I had my procedure yesterday, and while I was still nervous (that's just who I am) I realized afterwards that I needn't have been. Dr. Groden is just wonderful...he explained everything as it was happening, and has a very calming, kind and professional mannerism that kept me quite relaxed during the procedure. I had the MonoVision procedure and I am simply thrilled with the results so far, I can already see the alarm clock, the tv quide, street signs, small words on signs, and can still read close up too!! The staff here are incredible, compassionate, quick-thinking, and kind. They're encouraging, attentive, and I would trust them again with ease. I had an issue personally where my blood pressure just dropped and I passed out. They acted quickly to catch me (While I was standing at the front desk), call for help, and get me seated. They were very attentive when I woke up a few minutes later and kept checking in to make sure I was alright. They acted quickly to call an EMT and just showed the utmost care and kindness. That was on the day of surgery, prior to surgery. After that happened, I still went through with surgery and Dr, Groden was excellent as well. He has a calm voice and keeps talking to keep you relaxed and paying attention the whole time. The staff here is just superb and I can't say enough about them! I'm a month out from surgery now and my left eye is still a bit fuzzy while my right eye is perfectly clear. It may be too soon to tell what the outcome is completely, so here's to hoping for more stabilization in the coming months. read more

Dr. Groden's staff is amazing! Not only do they check up on you to REMIND you to take your eye drops two days before your surgery but they will answer any crazy question you have! They are a very polite group when it came to my full eye exam and explanations, but even when I was nervous about the cost I found out my insurance covered part of it and then I got financing for the balance! The day of the surgery, you might be a little nervous even though you say you are not, but they are all smiles there so you can't help but to smile too! Dr. Groden comes to see you beforehand to sit down and explain EXACTLY what he's going to do, such a nice person. I can't believe I finally got this done today and I am glad. I have a day after follow up and then a week after follow up and then a 3 month follow up. Believe it or not but for the first year free eye exams and then I have free "touchups" FOR LIFE as long as I have healthy eyes! I was told that my vision will get better in the next few days to come, I can't wait!! read more
