I was really interested in trying this place due to the great reviews and recommendations from Family and co-workers. I requested an appointment two weeks in advance through yelp. While I received a response time within the two hour time frame that was promised on yelp, Mai had responded that she's not taking new clients at this time. For a business, not only is this really accommodating to new customers (especially referrals) but unprofessional, as she markets herself here on yelp. I guess maybe the best recommendation isn't through word of mouth. * Edited review - while I appreciate your response here on yelp, your scheduling accommodations for taking new clients were not included in your private message response when requesting an appointment time. I agree, that while my review is not a reflection of your work but a reflection of your business practice. I live in San Jose, but have been going to Mai for almost a year and it kept slipping my mind to write her a well-deserved review! She is super sweet and very skilled at what she does. She uses quality products to go along with her high-quality work. When she's working on your eyes, she's very gentle, which puts you at ease. Some appointments, we chat it up (she's very easy to talk to) and other appointments, I even fall asleep. Either way, the results are always amazing. I consistently walk out of the salon smiling to myself and feeling great about how my lashes look. I'm always raving about her to my friends and a couple recently set up appointments (despite the 45+ minute drive to her - totally worth it). Last year, one week before my wedding, this bridezilla *HAD* to have eyelash extensions for my big day. I don't know what came over me, as I had finally gotten good at putting on false eyelashes, and hated having eyelash extensions almost a decade ago. Shockingly, Mai had an available appointment and offered to have me come in to test out the glue to make sure I didn't have a bad reaction before committing to a full set. She gave me a beautiful volume set for my wedding and I was hooked. Fast forward a year, and I have been coming to see Mai every 3-4 weeks since my wedding and she has even taken my sister on as a regular client. Mai operates in a very sanitary and professional manner and we always have great conversations during my appointments. She will also be very upfront if you aren't a candidate for lash extensions (weak or sparse lashes), or if you need to take a break from them because she is an honest business person and is not trying to make a quick buck. It is important to book your appointments out at least 4-6 weeks in advance as she is very busy, because she is amazing at what she does and everyone loves her work! You had the best meditation music on and I was so comfortable, whats crazy is I normally can't take naps but for some reason I went straight to sleep! I love Mia's professionalism and her work space. It is clean, bright and well decorated. I had a lash perm from her and I love it!! I use Latisse so my lashes are long but the end lashes have a weird kinky curl. I'm a busy mom and being as anal as I am, I can't stand uneven lashes and it would take me 5 minutes to curl, separate and apply mascara. Then on top of that I couldn't apply before doing my hair because the heat would relax the curl!! Just a pain having poker straight hair. Now that I have found the type of curl I love...I can say I am hooked!! I can pile all the mascara I want and not worry about it relaxing and I have not touched my eyelash curler in 2 months! Mai is amazing!!! She is professional, knowledgeable and her lash art talent is impeccable!!! After having a very unpleasant service with another salon I looked to Yelp for another lash salon. Let's just say that I won't be going anywhere else from now on. Mai has a very cute and quaint lash salon. It is clean, beautiful and relaxing. I came in for my appointment and we discussed my last set that I still had partially on my eyes. She immediately noticed that the lashes were much to heavy for my eyes, and that if they are that heavy it could do damage to my real eyelashes. Good to know information. She took her time and did an amazing natural look for my eyes. Let's just say my hairdresser/friend noticed them during my hair appointment with her. First she asked if they were my lashes or was I using Latisse. I told her they were not mine, and she said that she loved how natural and full they looked, unlike most of the ones she saw around town. Mai is seriously the best! I started going to her in April of 2019 for a bachelorette party in Vegas. It was my first time ever getting lash extensions and she was so warm and welcoming.
