Laser eye surgery is the best decision that you could give yourself. Like everyone, it is a scary idea to have surgery on your eyes, after all this is your vision. So when deciding on where to go, and who to trust your eyes too, please do you DD. Please have more than 1 consultation, option, and research all aspects of the surgery from side effects from pre to post opt care.
After going to different places, I choose Dr. Haddad because of his 25+ years in the business, professionalism, knowledge, the most advanced technological machines in the state of Michigan, and the different procedures he can provide to give you the best results for the best correction possible. The Laser Eye Institute eased my worries instantly with the great staff and information that was provided to guarantee you are getting the best care possible. The whole process was excellent, from beginning to end with Great results with my vision.
Now, I think this is the most important thing to remember. I am going to provide you with my experience, but remember when you decide to have this procedure done, this is surgery, and everyone is different. Your eyes will be going through trauma from the laser process and the healing process, time; side effects will be different for everyone. This was my experience and results may vary from person to person, that is why research is very important.
The day of the surgery was nothing. When you arrive, they explain everything that will be happening in detail so you know exactly what to expect. The entire process to correct both eyes was less than 30minutes and the actual laser process for me was 18sec in my left eye and 32sec in the right eye. Before you go into the room, they provide you with medication to help calm the nerves. Once you are in the room and ready to begin, they give you numbing drops so you cannot feel a thing. It is very interesting to say the least, to be able to see them working on your eyes, but was no discomfort for me just the process and remembering to stay still while the process is taking place. Dr. Haddad and personnel are in the room and talking to you and helping you throughout the process. For me I think this is very beneficial to help with staying calm and understand what is happening. Before you know it, the process is completed and you are finished.
Once they are finished, you will go into another room where they will bandage your eyes and give you instructions that are very clear, that you will need to rest your eyes for the first day. Sleep as much as possible to help your eyes start the healing process. Once I got home and the numbing drops wore off, my eyes were burning and had lots of discomfort. I took a sleeping pill and aspirin and went right to sleep. When I work up, the burning was gone and my eyes just had a little scratchy feeling to them.
When I woke up the next morning and was able to remove the eye patches, it was amazing how clear my vision was. Now, I did have some haze and the halos in the light, but again this is one of the side effects that are very common from the procedure. I was able to drive myself to the appointment the next morning. This is a follow-up visit so the Dr can review and make sure that nothing has happen to the flap after making the correction with the laser.
It has almost been a week since my surgery and every day seems to be getting a little better with my vision. For me I have noticed some changes from the left and right eye, but this is normal as they are trying to heal. My vision has been getting clearer and the halo's are still there but getting less and less. The one thing for me that I have really noticed is my eyes will get very dry. They provide eye drops that you will have to use before and after the surgery, but I have been using the fake teardrops to keep them moist, which is helping a lot. I use them multiple times throughout the day in between the drops that were provided.
Overall, my experience was excellent. Not having to wear glasses or contacts anymore is such a relief. As stated before, if you are thinking about having correction eye surgery, please do your homework. These are your eyes and do not just trust them to anyone. You will see or hear deals about an amount per eye that sounds great, but remember, you get what you pay for. Dr. Haddad is with you on your first consultation, talking about the different options and what is best for your eyes and the best procedure. He not only talks about the importance of getting other opinions, but also recommends it because he knows that you will come back. His clients/patients are from word of mouth, not advertisement, commercials trying to get you to come in with false statements or cheap prices. My decision was based on, trust, experience, technology, and research. NOT THE BEST PRICE!!!
I hope this helps with making a big, but great decision to lose those glasses forever.
