Excellent party venue, professional staff, everyone was happy! A few parent tips for smooth party (for 6 yr olds, laser tag): Ask kids to bring a water bottle, they will be parched and juice won't cut it. Snacks in between rounds go over well. Do a check in and check out list of attendees, the space is open and for party hosts, can get paranoid of losing, or not knowing if all the kids have been picked up. Pop is nice but the glasses tippy, be ready for spills. Tell the parents to pick kids up 15 minutes prior to party time bring up the kids get finished eating fast and get stir crazy. On the website, they have a recommended age but won't let younger players in even though they are of adequate height and would be accompanied by an adult. Don't plan for entry for younger siblings. These are not deterrents, just to help you know what you can expect. read more

Oh My GOLLYKINS did I ever have fun last night at Laser City Laser Tag! I had never played before and was totally blown away by how much fun the black light laster tag was! The staff were phenomenal and provided clear directions and explanations of the equipment and games before each game we played and were easily accessible during the laser tag games themselves. The waiting area out front has a few games, a viewing area, and a vending machine to rehydrate. There is tons of parking and the same facility also offers paintball. I really had a blast and can't wait to go back. P.S. They offer pretty fabulous birthday party packages for 8+ and have a separate and less intimidating set up for kids to have a smaller scale laser tag game for 4-8 years of age in super hero capes! read more

So much fun !!! We organized a Birthday Party for ten @Lazer City. Not knowing what to expect I was nervous, my fears were quickly put to rest once speaking with the desk staff. They were prompt and professional, everything organized went off without a hitch. One of their groups made last minute change making our party room available 30 minutes early, instead of letting the rooms empty we were invited to set up our crew early. Which was very appreciated! I hardly saw my kids! They had so much fun coming here for paintball and video games I could hardly get them to eat cake. My 8 year old had a party Saturday. He and his friends had a great time with our party facilitator Jasper. She was great with them and took their quirky humour with stride. Showed them how to safely play paintball and kept the game fun for them. We got plates, cups, napkins and three drinks included with our party plan. They kept our good in the fridge and were very helpful with any questions. They also place pizza orders for you do you can get on with the party. I highly recommend this for a kids party they reallly had a great time. read more

We went here for a private event and I can say that it was definitely a good time. The staff were all really informative and helpful. There was one guy called Luke who was extra helpful! The only quibble I had was they didn't explain how to score points well enough for my liking. I'm a bit of a Rules Nazi, so I want to know them soo I can WIN! Also speaking of rules the fact that after you get shot, you are only "deactivated" for 3 seconds is kind of lame. You get 100 points for shooting somebody but don't lose points for being shot. Really doesn't encourage any kind of tactical play. If you shoot somebody, they should stay dead for more time than it takes to walk around the corner and shoot you back. Also I would like them to be given a slight electrical shock (heh). Location is downtown but there is free parking so yay! Prices are $159 for up to 11 people not a bad price at all. I'd recommend trying this out if you're trying to plan an activity for children but not recommend for anybody over 12. I came here on a Groupon deal, and again as part of a Yelp event. I'm a HUGE laser tag fan, and as someone who used to frequent both the old Laser Quest location and their new west end location, I can say how happy I am that Laser City decided to open up downtown. (being a northsider, I appreciate any and all businesses that don't all automatically go to the southside) First of all, Laser City is really easy to spot. There is free parking available, but it's a small shared lot with the paintball place. I like the Laser City guns, which are a lot lighter than Laser Quest's. Laser City also has this neat superhero game where you wear a glove-like laser shooter. (never tried it, but it looks cool) My only caveat with their guns is that you need to keep both hands on the gun to keep it activated. The arena is a pretty good size with lots of space to run about. They have a base play option, and I found one of the bases extremely difficult to locate during play! A nice bonus for the parents out there is that there is a small windowed area where they can watch the game taking place. Bonus: they don't make you recite the rules here like they do at Laser Quest AND the hardcore laser tag players don't seem to come here (which makes playing for us commoners that much more enjoyable) Large waiting area, with an interactive game projected onto the floor. I don't like how the washrooms are at the end of the central entryway. It's kind of creepy in there. They always have promos here, just keep your eye out on their website. read more

Gosh, it had been YEARS since I had last done laser tag when I came here for a private event recently, and I'm happy to say that although I'm older, I haven't lost what skill I had in playing! Indeed, I was on the winning team each game, placing second each time during our adults only games. I like how well laid out the score sheets are, how the score board updates constantly and how there's a great observation area for parents and others to view what is going on in game! There are a number of party rooms for special events and everything seems really well maintained in the facility itself. Even as an adult there are lots of great things to hide behind and you can play effectively in this environment. If you react to artificial smoke, I would advise not playing too many games as most laser tag facilities have such machines to make it easier to see the laser beams. The bathrooms in the building were really dated but that's one of the few downsides of the facility itself. I highly recommend visiting this facility for a great time! read more

My brother and I visited Laser City partially as a way to revisit our childhood and partially to blast bad guys. First things first - the parking situation. They have a free lot just east of the building. Enter on 100 street, as there is no entrance to the lot on 107a avenue. The staff is super friendly and the space is very clean. Laser City has several rooms to rent for birthday parties etc. This would be a great place to consider for older kids and tween events. The vests and guns all seemed to be well maintained and in good working order, and the playing field was quite large with lots of places to hide and sneak through. The gameplay lasts 15 minutes, and they have various types of games - 4 teams, 2 teams, & everyone for themselves. I never fully grasped the scoring rules until after playing. Here's a rundown - shoot as much as possible. If you get shot, your gun is inactive for 3 seconds, but you don't lose points. If you're like me and appreciate stealthy, sniper-like play, this style may not be for you, but if you like to run into the line of fire, guns ablazin', you'll find yourself with an amazing score. Oh fun, fun, fun, fun!!! So this may sound crazy, but I played Laser Tag for the very first time! Ya, i know! How on earth I grew up with a nerdy, laser tag lovin' brother, and never tried it - beyond me. So while I am dropping truth bombs. here's another one: I'm obsessed with the TV show How I Met Your Mother - Barney Stinson rocks my world. So, when the fine folks from Edmonton Paintball Centre opened a Laser Tag place - I was sooooo excited to try it! And boy, I'm I glad that I did.... Let's just say Laser Tag is hilarious, and not scary/frustrating/gross (like paintball is). It's super fun! I don't know what winded me first; running around or laughing my s$$ off! I can't wait to come back. And Laser City has done a phenomenal job of creating a fun, engaging environment for private parties, a chill evening or weekend activity, date night done different, or even girls night out. Pew Pew Pew! Embrace your inner child (or take an actual child), and hit up Laser City Tag! The staff there are so much fun, and the actual arena is spacious, with lots of stuff to hide and maneuver around! it's also fairly well vented, so it doesn't get too hot. They do use a bit of smoke in the arena (to make the lasers visible), but other than that, it's pretty great in there! There are lots of break out rooms for parties, and the main lobby has an interactive floor game that honestly kept me entertained longer than I want to admit! Also, for the wee ones that aren't comfortable with guns, there's Hero Tag, with great, almost boxing glove laser shooters (they are supposed to look like super hero gloves), and the vests have capes! So my boys love laser tag and we'll lets be honest so do I. There is nothing like running around a huge maze, in the dark, playing a game of cat and mouse with a bunch of strangers to make you feel like your back in elementary school. Except of coarse now there are guns involved. Laser guns, so all good. I'm so happy that there is now a second option for laser tag on the north side of Edmonton. The other one being Laser Quest on 170st and 112ave. The both have some similarities and some unique differences. The first thing I like about Laser City is the staff. They are super friendly and when you're getting your initial how to play and rule speech they are respectful and aren't screaming at you. The maze itself is pretty similar between the two places. I like how the guns speak to you here. And how there is an ever present referee on the game floor. The guns at Laser City are also noticeably lighter then at Laser Quest, which is nice. The other thing which I found out today is that they have a second maze just for little guys ages 6-8. They call it the hero room and it is only available for private booking which is awesome. In this room the structures are smaller and they keep the lights on. But they are dimmed for some ambiance . My younger son might actually like laser tag more in this other maze. The darkness and the running around structures all over his head is just a bit much for him. I think they also have smaller vest for the little guys, although I'm not 100% sure on that. They have several party rooms with a big table and several chairs. If you book a party you get the room for one hour and get two games of laser tag. They also include plates, cups, a drink for each guest and cutlery as well. The party prices seem pretty fair. Oh and there is also a fun interactive halographic projection on the floor in the main lobby. It has several different games that get switched up every 3 mins. So basically it's something to keep you entertained while you're waiting for your next game. I'm so happy I got to try this place out for free, thanks to Yelps AMAZING Fit Club. I will definitely be returning to get my fit on at this establishment. FYI there is ample free parking to the rear of the building. read more

Had a great time on my visit to Laser City. The game is fun, the course is quite large with lots of spots to hide (but not to hide too well - that'd make the game boring!) The experience is good. They set out the rules and procedures well at the start of the game and then turn you loose on the course. I enjoyed the team structure of the game because it allowed you to work together to some extent. One game is $8.50 per person. There are lockers available on site for you to lock up your items. They also have a game that is projected to the floor that you can play in between laser tag games. They also have a number of party rooms on site which is great for kids' birthday parties. read more

I planned my sons 7th Birthday here. There were mixed ages all under 7 boys and girls and they had a blast! Most had never been to laser tag before but the staff went through rules and how to use the equipment. The atmosphere is comparable to monster golf and what I thought was great as a parent was the viewing area. I could see them playing but not have to hear them playing Great staff, great place. They advertised a full day for kids. Drop off at nine and pickup before six. When I came to pick them up at six they were exhausted! The instructors seemed fun. The kids preferred the laser tag. there seems to be good review for the demo ton branch but calgary north i am not so fond of .you played in teams which seems really i find not good if there are 20 participants you cN only shoot at 10 of them which makes the game boring. I much prefer the free for all like at laser quest, at least you got to shoot at more people. I would not go back to laser city if they kept this format. My kids were not a big fan either. read more

Great game for the kids but very terrible services. They didn't have enough plates, napkins and cups for the party etc. I went up to the front desk few times to ask for plates, napkins and cups etc. I even had to reused the plates for the birthday cakes. They never came and help me or ask me do I need anything. Which game is 20 minutes. First game was so bad. The kids have to put the stuff on and then they have to explain to the kids how to play the game. All these times take up almost 7 minutes. The kids only play 13 minutes of their game instead of 20 minutes. Very expensive place for birthday party. They only include 8L of coke. Most place are including food and drink and less expensive. Other parents and myself would not book a party here again. Expensive party and no services. Super terrible services. read more

Run by the same people as Edmonton Paintball Centre, in the same building, these guys know how to do fun! Facility is clean and well planned out. Several party rooms. (Very) small concession available for refueling. Entertainment in the lobby to keep you busy while you wait for your scheduled game: a small but varied choice of loonie operated arcade games and a free game projected onto the floor. A viewing area (that actually has a decent vantage point) if you want to peak in on someone else's game - great if you've brought the kids to play buy don't want to take part yourself. The washrooms are dated and a little run down, but they do what they need to... I can see how it might not have been a renovation priority right out the gate, and it's not like a restaurant where I expect a nice washroom - I'm just there to shoot people. I do wish they had a water fountain somewhere though, I think it's just responsible planning to provide basic hydration. There are free and spacious lockers available for coats and bags - trade a credit card or drivers licence at the counter for a key. I also love the free parking, lots of it! especially considering their central location! Their scheduling system runs like a well oiled machine during peak times. You're given a ticket with your game time clearly printed. A five minute warning is called before each game. While the previous game is still in session, you're funneled into the briefing room, and instructions wrap up as the vesting room is restocked and vacated, made ready for your group's turn. Regular hours are pretty good from Thurs through Sunday though it'd be cool if they were open slightly later... but that might be a personal bias. They expand their days and hours though school holiday weeks and have been known to offer discounts during those times. Most recently, it was a great way to get some fun in with my kids during spring break at only $5 per person per game - a fantastic value to get to exact revenge on my unruly spawn. Parties are priced decently, a better value than some other packages on the market, but bear in mind that the arena is still open to the public during party bookings - you're not booking the whole facility, you're booking a party room and admissions for games... so their might be other players in the arena at the same time as you that could be playing at a completely different level as your group. However, for the younger players, they do have a variation available called 'Hero Tag' (like super hero themed, with gloves and capes instead of pistols and vests), that will ensure there are no special ops pro teenagers in the room. The arena is well laid out, not the best I've ever seen (to be fair, I was spoiled by amazing areas to perch and hide that I loved in the place I used to frequent in Montreal 20 years back), but one of the better ones for sure. I really like how many stats are tracked, which can be seen in real time on the screens outside and more details are given on the handy dandy score sheets after the game (which I use to point out to my son that despite his better overall ranking, the important thing to look at is how I beat him in many areas). The equipment is good, efficient with no weird issues and not too heavy. As for game play, there is a bit of a drawback that there is no point penalty for being hit and you're only deactivated for 3 seconds, but I find that the game is still fun and the arena is so well laid out that I'm willing to overlook that aspect and would still recommend and return. read more

Laser City has incredible customer service and keep things very fun & simple. At the lobby, while you wait for your game to start, there is an interactive floor game which was so much fun. Before play time the refs take the time out for a safety brief, game rules, and to teach you how to properly handle these guns. It is really exciting having a new laser tag place open up in the Downtown area after Laser Quest moved away from their location behind MacEwan University. Games last around 15 minutes and the course is a pretty good size with lots of areas to hide. Staff was friendly and knowledgeable. Unlike Laser Quest, the guns do not display who you were shot by while you are playing and players are listed as numbers (for example Player 1, Player 2, etc.) on the scorecards opposed to codenames; however, I think I prefer this as I always had troubles coming up with a clever codename in the first place. When you shoot 2 people in a row without getting shot yourself, the guns enter "rapid-fire" mode which is very enjoyable. Overall, I had a good time and I would definitely recommend Laser City for a birthday event! read more

Took the family here for a few games of laser tag three times now. We had a ton of fun playing. The games run 15 minutes long which I think is a good time, the ref's are pretty relaxed which is good I don't like places where the officials are uptight.
