After many years of hearing about this place and driving past it countless times, I finally decided to give Las Tóxicas #2 a try. I went in with genuine excitement and high expectations, which honestly made the disappointment hit even harder. Let's start with the basics--if you're going to advertise items on your menu, they should actually be available. Being told there were no tortas right off the bat was frustrating. It may seem like a small thing, but it sets the tone. It makes you question how organized or consistent things are behind the scenes. I ended up ordering the nachos with elote, thinking it would be a safe choice. Unfortunately, they were anything but impressive. The cheese lacked flavor and had that low-quality, almost artificial taste that just doesn't sit right. Nachos are supposed to be indulgent and satisfying--this felt like an afterthought. Then came the elote placed in the middle, which should have been a highlight. Instead, it was one of the biggest letdowns. It was very clear that the corn had been frozen at some point. The texture was off, and the flavor just wasn't there. Elote should be rich, creamy, tangy, and full of life--this was bland and forgettable. Beyond the food, the atmosphere didn't help the situation. The music was extremely loud--to the point where it was hard to even focus on the meal or have a conversation. So i opted to take it to go. There's a difference between creating a vibe and overwhelming your customers, and this leaned heavily toward the latter. What really makes this disappointing is the time I waited to try this place. When you build something up for years, you expect at least a decent experience. Instead, it felt like nothing was executed with care--from the menu inconsistency to the food quality to the overall environment. This one genuinely hurts to write because I wanted to like it. I wanted to walk out recommending it. But based on this visit, it just didn't deliver. Definitely not worth the wait, and unfortunately not a place I'd return to. The story of Las Toxicas is beautiful, and maybe atone point it was awesome, but as of now, it let me down. They have to get it together and when I return in a few months, i can rewrite my review. Pretty cool spot on 47th and Kedvale. The story is touching on how this came about 2.5 years ago. We met Teresa the owner. Her mom was a street vendor for so many years and then they started their business in their home and now they have this local business. Happy it's 8 minutes away from where I live. It's a very small place but I think it looks small bc of the giant Teddys bears . The service is good. It gets full but there's enough staff to prep food, desserts and corn on the cob and drinks. I ordered the ELOCHETOS. I was able to finish the corn on the cob but not the extra corn on the side. Maybe if I was on empty I'd would have eaten it all. It wasn't as spicy as I hoped but it was not bad. My sisters orders so many other things. I'll post them now. This place is decent. It's pretty much just like a Los mangos but with a few differences. The taquitos were excellent, better than I expected for this kind of place. Nothing else was bad. Loved the color scheme actually, I imagine little kids would too! Only problem was music is WAY too loud. Almost painful. Customer service is awful, they don't have half the things on their menu, I tried the turron con chamoy it was so hard with no flavor I couldn't even enjoy it I threw it away. The place also feels so small it's hard to go in and out if there's a line. read more

This place is not what I expected they take so long to have any order ready... like 1 hour to 30 minutes like why? Just for some few elotes and raspados (snow balls) by the time I got my raspados the ice was already melted and the whole mixture of the drink was disgusting since it was melted water iced and sugar that's how it tasted like.. didn't even get to drink it.. or enjoy any of the food nachos with the corn looked like they put the whole mayo jar in there and not much cheese it feels like you are eating fat peoples food.. it had a terrible after taste I rather go to any Michoacána ice cream shop than here prices were ridiculous and it's not that I can't pay when I actually spended around $50 something dollars here you would expect for food to at least be good.. and it wasn't yuck!everything was either melted and food was cold the quality was like eating stale food it felt like being in a tianguis in there aka flea market with all those things they sale it's either a Treat shop or a flea market? read more

First time visiting, wasn't best but also was't worst experience. This establishment just needs a few tweaks IMO. The location it's self is very small. There was a long line & only 3 workers. Despite the line, I did appreciate that there was a worker that went & and handed everyone in line a menu so they would be prepared to order & make the process faster. I would recommend a tracking system for orders after they are placed, since everyone was asked for order again after it had already been placed. To rate what I ordered, the nachos were really good I would definitely recommend to others & come back for those. The serving size was enough to feed two people. As for the diablito de limon that I ordered, I personally did not care for it. The diablito had more chile than limon flavor so it was over powered. In the future I would just order a regular raspado. I'd like to mention also that there are no napkins at tables, only one roll at register. There is also no one cleaning tables but that could also be due to short staff. Despite the busyness, the workers had good attitudes & the nachos were great. The only thing that was good was the bottled Sprite! Raspados de frutas naturales were horribl and the "jugo" was thick syrup! I thought my tamarindo one was bad but when I saw my son gag when he tasted his green limon one, it was worse! Tossed both out while there. Elote in a cup was nothing different than what you can buy with a street vendor except this was over price. I was looking forward to the "tacos ahogados" and the soup, yes, soup, they're dunked in was piping hot, no flavor, and very spicy, I cou tell if it was the soup or salsa that was too hot to eat. i got the elote with cheese covered cheetos which was amazing, also the tacos ahogadas which are kinda like flautas in some watery chile- you have to try them. the agua frescas were so refreshing. we got serviced by a young lady with bangs, she was super nice and helped us with any questions we had. only thing i would say is that the cheetos were a bit stale (which we could've asked for new ones but it was so good we kept eating lol) and i also think they need more staff. it was only 2 people and you could tell they needed at least one more person to help. the line took forever and i believe an extra person would've improved this. all things considered, it was delicious and i would 1000% go back read more
