So I will start by saying that I have been a Vallejo resident for 18 years. Roughly 6 months ago I was chatting with a coworker who lives in Rodeo and she said this was the best Mexican Restaurant she ever had. So we went and had her favorite Shrimp enchiladas with green sauce. It was indeed delicious and fresh. I'm usually not impressed with beans and rice unless my cousins wife makes them however, they do them right here! The Top shelf margaritas are generously large. Service is always friendly and prompt. My husband always loves the shredded chicken tacos and enchiladas with green sauce. My new favorites now are the Chile rellenos and the Camarones Ala Diabla with homemade corn tortillas. We are always met with super friendly service from Sheena the bartender/waitress! I asked her if I could get a kitchen job to steal the recipes but she notified me that they were Top-Secret family recipes! Oh well. I guess I will just have to eat there every week! read more

I have been here multiple times before and things such as the service and the food quality has gone up and down each time. But this time the service was pretty good the girl that waited on us I had never seen before and she did a pretty darn good job with us as well as the 5 or 6 other tables she was handing near us. My food was good best al pastor burrito I have had in a while. The fish tacos were grilled which I didn't expect but the fish was moist and light. My wife throughly enjoyed her combination plate (1 chicken sope 1 chicken enchilada and 1 carnitas taco) She even ate her beans and she never does. The food is really good here but I ordered carnitas chimichanga, which is basically a burrito that is deep fried. Their usual pricimg for a veggie burrito is $7.99 and with meat I get it will be more but they had me paying over $14 for it! Fuck that! Also I ordered an extra spur cream which was $2 fucking dollars more and they forgot to put it in the bag! They told me it costs more to be deep fried and because it has veggies in it. I just tried this place for the first time over the weekend, and I HAD to come back because they make their own fresh tortillas daily !!! I am a HUGE fan of handmade tortillas as it enhances the whole experience of your meal. But honestly, all the food I've had so far has been amazing! They have pretty good beans and rice, they don't just blend their refried beans in the blender, everything feels so homemade! Even their chips and salsa are good! I love mariscos (seafood) but I'm very picky about where I get it, Palmitas never lets me down, the ingredients are always fresh and the portions do not disappoint, I usually get a regular shrimp coctel, once I ordered the super and had to take half of it home, it was SUPER huge lol, totally for sharing ! This space with its cute corner location is a hidden gem. For many years I drove right passed this place without stepping inside, but I remembered the sign outside. So when someone told me how good "the place with the palm tree sign" is, I'd have to see for myself. There are a ton of options on the menu, but my personal favorite would definitely have to be their wet burrito. The have two different option to make it "wet". Classic enchilada sauce, or the green chili sauce. If you've never tried it before I would highly recommend the later. The meals are flavorful, the portions are large, the drinks are plentiful. It's top notch, but the main criticism I have for this place is the inconsistency of service and wait times for meals. I've been here on a few occasions when the bar tender was the only person working the entire dinning room, and honestly you kind of just feel sorry for the guy... but anyway this place has its flaws, but I don't think it takes away from the actual quality of the space. Took about 45 min to get our order to us. Only about 10 others seated. Not very busy. Salsa is very spicy but tasted good. The Chips however were from a bag. Round generic costco corn chips. Salty as heck. One last note. They were blasting mariachi music full blast from the tv mounted on the wall. So loud that the speakers were farting and distorted. Well this is my second visit to Las Palmitas and sadly it will be my last! First time the food was unremarkable but I moved on without a review. Last night we sat outside and ordered. Margaritas were good but we ordered nachos and two fish tacos. The nachos were $10 and came on a regular sized dinner plate. The nachos didn't even cover the whole plate. They were very small and had more bland refried beans than flavorful cheese and pico. The fish tacos were good in flavor but they didn't double up the corn tortillas so both tacos crumbled and completely fell apart all soggy in our hands. The worst part though was the service. It was daylight and nice on the patio when we got there. It was super noisy inside so we chose to sit outside. Took waitress several minutes to seat us, then another too long wait for her to come back to take our order. Then it was more than THIRTY minutes to get our food. It was cold and almost dark when we were finally done. We asked for our bill as soon as waitress brought our food or we would have sat out there waiting another 10 minutes or more. Overall just not impressed. Food was bland, small servings and service sucked. There are tons of great Mexican food restaurants in Vallejo but this isn't one of them. read more

Wow, unfortunately, this place was a Go To Mexican restaurant in Vallejo I went to at least a dozen times and then: 1. They didn't answer the phone for several days in a row (no phone message left per why) this was in November, then... 2. When I did get through, I ordered as usual and was WAY disappointed in the quality of the food. Less quantity of rice & beans, beans not tasty or well cooked and less than mediocre enchilada and no chips included. It then occurred to me (this was a to go order) that maybe they were under new ownership explaining the gap in being open. And: 3. I just called and talked to Miguel and asked to talk to the Manager as I wanted to be comped for last time. Miguel was rude and unprofessional!! I politely explained that I'd wondered if they were under new ownership (explaining the gap in answering the phone or being open prior). I shared that there was a gap in my time letting them know what had happened because I'm busy and frankly wondered if I'd ever go back after the last time. (Especially after they seemed dicey not having been open prior and may have changed ownership). Miguel's response? He Refused to give a message to the manager or tell me the manager's name. I even jokingly asked "Is he in the witness protection program?" Any reputable business will gladly give you the Manager's name. He further stated that was "Using his initiative" to say no as it had been so long (even though I had addressed this). I'm going to pursue this and will update you if When I talk to the Manager (Which I will do) if there's a change. I hope this isn't indicative of the incredibly unprofessional, poor quality of customer service I encounter in too many instances in Vallejo. Not always, but way more often than in the East Bay or San Francisco. Hopefully the Manager doesn't want his restaurant misrepresented by this kind of behavior. Home made tortillas, and love the food! Takes a minute for food but worth the wait. Everything fresh
