Carnitas tacos

I came here for a quick lunch after filtering through the other options in the area. I ordered 3 tacos to go for $9. Good value and amazing quality. I ate in my car facing the street for entertainment. Lots of activity to watch for taco eating. 10/10. The women at the counter were so helpful and friendly!!

Authentic Mexican food. Always friendly service. Very limited seating indoor but a nice seating area outside. Food always comes quickly and is very fresh.

Can't believe I haven't reviewed this place before. I most recently had four different tacos: carnitas, chicharrĂłn, Al pastor, and asada. They were all great on fresh handmade tortillas and their salads are always kicking. Small eating area and the tables are usually greasy but quick and friendly service. Cash only.

the huarache with chorizo ... very good

My dad and I decided to come here based on the 5 star average reviews on Yelp. I ordered the huarache with chorizo (a popular dish in Mexico City that still hasn't become mainstream in Mexican restaurants here in the USA). It was very good. My dad ordered a burrito with roasted pork (pastor) and he really liked it. The portion size on his was huge. He ended up taking about half of it home. The ambiance of the place feels authentic and everything is both in English and English. We definitely feel the 5 star rating is justified.

My word, the food at Las Luputas is just breathtaking. I've had a lot of the tacos - asada, chicken, barbacoa, chorizo, pastor. I've also had the torta, huaraches, and tres leches cake. All are simply incredible and highlight the lack of authentic Mexican food we have in the region. Go here once and it will instantly become a restaurant in your rotation. Simply outstanding,

If your covid-cravings are calling for authentic mexican, then don't forget you can call in an order to Las Lupitas for takeout. They still only take cash so get your sanitizer out and tell them to keep the change. The order process on the phone was a little dicey mainly because I haven't been keeping up with my Duolingo notifications. I ordered two barbacoa quesadillas (don't judge) and picked them up about ten minutes later. I was in and out in a flash and devouring my quesadillas from the comfort of my couch in no time.

This is a little shack off the side of the road, if that bothers you DON'T GO. The place is very clean and there's the option to sit inside or outside. The amount of food was plentiful for the price. We paid $40 for 4 people AND we had leftovers. The food came out quickly, was hot, and the ingredients were obviously very fresh and homemade. Definitely glad I took the time to visit here on my short trip to Charleston. I would eat here every day if I could! It is great, AUTHENTIC Mexican.

This is definitely not the spot to get your menudo. It is flavorless and does not have your traditional pata. I am not a hominy person so it's ok but if you like hominy inside yours then don't even try it. The tortillas are machine made and are a little tough on the outer edges. The tortilla on the picture seemed odd not sure why it came like that additionally this location only cash. I am only reviewing my menudo and would definitely not be back here for it. Perhaps the rest of the food items are better but I guess I will never find out since I won't be back

Always wanted to try this place since my family and i pass it daily. Order came out wrong and we were served RAW PORK. Plus an adult quesodilla is one taco folded in half. this place is NASTY! worse than taco bell. And RUDE

Looking for a great hole in the wall spot? Best torta, tacos, & tamales that I've had in CHS. A1 Horchata. My #1 Mexican spot so far. FYI it's cash only! Al Pastor TacosAl Pastor Tacos

No frills restaurant offering authentic Mexican food. The dining area is small, booths are small, consider it cozy. Menu was originally wrote on big dry-erase board, in Spanish. It's still there but they've added translated menus in the last couple of months. Ive tried several different tacos...steak, pork, and chicken were all good. Recently tried there burritos. Wow, they are huge, big enough to share with someone else you are ready to gorge yourself. Tacos are $2, burritos are $8. Great spot for lunch but beyond 1130 they often get really busy because the local work force loves this place, as do I. Highly recommend this restaurant if you are in the mood for some real authentic cooking and at an awesome price.

It's a bit of a drive to get there from downtown or Mt Pleasant but oh my god, it is entirely worth it. There was just one person running the entire front of the restaurant, waiting every table, bringing out all of the food, and handling the checks. She was fantastic and the service was great. We ordered in Spanish (the best we could) and everything turned out well, but the menu is in both English and Spanish so you could just point to the things you want. I had the enchiladas which were amazing, highly recommend. Also ask for a flavored water (agua fresca), they had pineapple, cucumber and lime, and tamarin. The pineapple water (agua fresca de piña) was so good! This place is a diamond in the rough. It doesn't look like much on the outside but don't judge a book by its cover, it's the best Mexican restaurant in Charleston!

On our way to the airport one weekend, we saw the sign for what appeared to be a new restaurant in town, the family was hungry and we decided to give it a shot. Not expecting much, we ordered some authentic Mexican dishes: Lamb Barbacoa. Chilaquiles, Enchiladas and Horchata and Cucumber waters.... boy, were we so pleasantly surprised!!!!! FINALLY; delicious, fresh and truly authentic Mexican dishes!! For once everyone, wife, toddlers, teenage son, mother in law and I unanimously agreed, we're so delighted with this place that we have made it our go-to weekend breakfast spot. Service is super friendly, portions are generous, prices are fair. We hope this place keeps the great quality of the food for years to come. Congratulations to the chef, cooks and staff, all of you succeeded in making us feel at home.

We shopped and shopped and worked up an appetite. We walked into the tiny little restaurant and I immediately went onto my yelp app. The menu is NOT in English and I had no idea what I wanted so I used pictures as some sort of a guideline lol. My husband ordered enchiladas and we agreed, per usual that we would split everything. I ordered huarache and then last minute we decided to do an order of the plantains, (only one not pictures) sorry y'all they were delicious!!! The only flaw I saw was the guy in back, guessing owner, pretty much ran the entire show, which is badass, however I wished he wore gloves!! And then I almost ate both foil and wax paper from scraping the plastic to the bottom, it was worth it. We love finding authentic little places like this, they started with a food struck and now have this little hole in the wall place that packs a powerful punch! Oh and their green hot sauce that came in the soufflé cup was amazing! If not for my son, I would have drenched my food in it! So good! We would definitely come back, but I'd research the menu a little more before coming, so I can figure out what I want beforehand.

Pollo Loko - North Charleston, SC…read more The wife and I stopped into Pollo Loko for a quick lunch, not expecting much... and wow, what a surprise this place turned out to be. First off, the customer service was outstanding. The staff were incredibly friendly, welcoming, and genuinely made us feel appreciated from the moment we walked in. You don't always get that kind of attention these days, so it really stood out. The restaurant itself was spotless, well-kept, and had a great vibe. You can tell they take pride in the place. Now let's talk about the food -- because this is where they really shine. We started with the empanadas, which were absolutely delicious -- fresh, flavorful, and the perfect way to kick things off. For our main, we ordered the Peruvian chicken, served with fries and rice, and it did not disappoint. The chicken was cooked perfectly, packed with flavor, and paired incredibly well with their signature sauces -- seriously, those sauces take everything to another level. Even the salad was fresh and tasty, which says a lot because that's usually an afterthought at most places. On top of that, they've got a great selection of sodas and other drinks, making it a perfect stop for a casual lunch. Bottom line: An unexpected gem with amazing food, top-tier service, and a clean, welcoming atmosphere. **Highly recommend -- 5 stars, 3 thumbs up from us.

This is a fast casual style restaurant and not a real fancy place. My picky colleague who's never had peruvian ordered the ribs. Quesadiladas - you get 2 in an order and these are different than Mexican ones since they have grilled bell peppers and onions. A bit pricy too...the rice and beans that come with this are just average. They only had 2 salsas for the table, a green ranch like one and a red spicy one similar to a spicy Mexican red sauce. I'm still looking for a peruvian restaurant that has the spicy green sauce that most all peruvian restaurants have in California.
