Wow what a great spot this is. Great food and highly recommended! Service was excellent even though I don't speak Spanish they still were very nice and friendly. Must try if you're in the area

I have recently discovered Colombian food thanks to Sachas Cafe, and I must say, this place is tops. The portions are huge, the food is fresh, the service is friendly, and everything was delicious. It's the standard food you would find in a Colombian establishment, but very high quality. Also, their sauce is wonderful. I'll definitely be coming back. Many many times!

Most authentic Colombian you can find. True to their name. Food portions are huge and pretty well priced.

I have always enjoyed visiting Greenville and it's fantastic Colombian restaurants. El Carriel has over and over exceeded my expectations for well over 5 years now. The food is as authentic as it gets. The portions are HUGE. The servers are tan amable. The panadería has yet to disappoint me with their selection. Must try are buñuelos, as well as pan de bono. The arroz con pollo is great. The almuerzo Colombiano is authentic and full of sabor autentico. The weekend pollo asado is like walking into a kokorico in the 1980's Bogota. The selection of jugos is next level. The coolers and products are always on point in their diversity and relevance. Absolutely worth a visit and some light grocery shopping, even if it's for a little mekateo and some authentic ingredients shopping..

The restaurant itself is really cute, clean, and has plenty of parking. Unfortunately, our experience started off on the wrong foot because the automatic handicap door button was broken. My boyfriend stood outside for several minutes trying to get it to work so he and his service dog could get inside. It was close to 100° outside, so that was really frustrating. I was still getting things out of the car and had no idea he was stuck outside because I never imagined something that important would be out of service. Eventually, an employee came over and opened the door for us. Our server was very friendly and attentive, so no complaints there. We ordered the morcilla with arepitas and an arepa with shredded beef, chicharrón, and chorizo. The morcilla was a disappointment. It was dry and mostly tasted like rice. My boyfriend has had morcilla at other Colombian restaurants before, and they usually have a much richer filling with meat and seasoning. This one just fell flat. My arepa was okay, but it really needed something. No cheese, no butter, no sauce, not even hogao. The shredded beef was dry, the chicharrón was chewy, and the chorizo was decent. Overall, it just lacked flavor. As we say in Colombia... it needed more sabor and a little more love. The passion fruit juice was really good, though. Overall, I'd give the food a 3/10.

The service here is spot on. They brought out a bunch of napkins and the sauces right away. The white sauce is ranch. The red sauce is a very mild chipotle. The green sauce is like 1/4 of a jalapeno in terms of heat. I would recommend the bowls here. The entire bottom is essentially rice while the top is protein. This is all to say the portions are decadent, before we even get to the qualify of the food. Everything on our plate was delicious. My only complete is that the egg was more medium than medium-easy. The wings were fine. The small empanadas were fun to eat. All in all, a good time. Go here.

After seeing several Instagram posts raving about this restaurant and being new to South Carolina,…read morewe decided to give it a try. Unfortunately, it was a major letdown from the start. The exterior looked rundown, and inside, many tables were still covered in dirty dishes, with flies circling around. Despite the initial red flags, we decided to stay and give the food a chance. When we received the menu, none of the dishes had prices listed. I asked the server for a menu with pricing, but she just laughed and said none of their menus had prices, and if I wanted to know, I'd have to ask her directly. This was off-putting, but we ordered a mix of Colombian and Mexican dishes: lengua criolla, milanesa de pollo, a burrito, and a chicken quesadilla. When the food arrived, things went from bad to worse. The burrito was smothered in a thick sauce they claimed was cheese, but it clearly wasn't. The quesadilla had an odd, almost liquid cheese with no flavor. The lengua was passable, but the accompanying salad was soggy and tasted off. Wanting to avoid further complaints, I simply asked for the burrito to be remade without the sauce. The server refused, saying that's just how they made it and couldn't accommodate the request. As someone who is 100% Colombian and has lived in Mexico and California, I can confidently say the "Mexican" food here was not authentic and tasted terrible. When I asked to remove the uneaten burrito from the bill, the server seemed visibly irritated but agreed. While my wife and I finished most of our food, our kids couldn't eat theirs. To top it off, the server never brought the bill to the table, so I had to go to the counter, where she simply gave me a total without a proper receipt. I ended up paying $97 for a meal that wasn't worth half that. It's disappointing to leave this kind of review, but there are far better Colombian restaurant options in Greenville, Mauldin, and nearby areas. I strongly recommend staying away from this place--especially the so-called "Mexican" menu.

It wasn't super hot, but had a good kick and taste that complimented the steak very well. The chicharrón was also crispy and went well with the beans. The sausage was really good and went well with the plátano maduro. Overall, a good place for those that enjoy Columbian food in Greenville, SC.

Going through the drive-thru, I was asked to practically yell my order from my car because the employee couldn't hear me. Instead of addressing the issue professionally, the interaction felt rude and unnecessarily frustrating. Had the customer service been better, I probably would have given more grace regarding the food. Unfortunately, the food itself was also underwhelming and didn't seem as fresh or well-prepared as I expected. The most frustrating part is that I drove a considerable distance to visit this location. If I hadn't already made the trip, I likely would have left without ordering. Between the poor customer service and disappointing food quality, I left feeling like I wasted both my time and money. I've had better experiences at other Tropical Grille locations, particularly the Haywood Road location. Based on this visit, I can't recommend this location and hope management takes steps to improve both customer service and food quality.

Literally a hidden gem of a find in downtown Greenville…read more.. We only found this place by visiting the Greenville Drive team store on a Saturday afternoon. Decided to check it out for dinner on a Friday night and was shocked it was so empty. It's only a matter of time before this place fills up! I'm assuming baseball season will have this spot packed. This is the second location (original is on woodruff rd). If you look up the other location- they have fabulous reviews and rightfully so. They have daily specials, lunch specials and happy hour! A DJ on Saturday afternoons as well as brunch. We sat at the bar and Vanessa took great care of us. She gave us great recommendations. I love that they make their own drink mixes! It makes all the difference in quality. We tried a mango mojito and Pisco passion. Both were yummy! Pisco passion is strong fyi. The mood for something filling/delicious was fulfilled and then some! We both got mofongos which come with your choice of plantains: sweet, green or trifongo. We only tried the trifongo with roasted pork (which was amazing) but our favorite was the shrimp al ajillo (garlic shrimp). For the record- last time I had mofongo this good & flavorful I was in Puerto Rico. Safe to say we LOVED everything about both dishes. Still thinking about the garlic sauce with the shrimp! Chefs kiss! And the crispy pork belly pieces on top of the plantains that just melt in your mouth! The Ribeye steak board was recommended by a local (also dining at the the bar). He RAVED about the steak and the sides it comes with. Apparently only this location has a magical creamed corn dish as one of the sides for the all steak boards. Will be back to see how magical it really is! Ambiance is hip & fun with a splash of casual elegance. Great for a family dinner, date night, girls night- whatever. The only downside to planning your visit here is the parking. No private lot & street parking is scarce. I believe there's a garage across the street? The food, drinks & service will make the parking situation worth it. Planning on coming back to try their brunch. Cannot wait!
