Three pupusas: chicharron, frijol, and loroco. Came with pickled veggies
    Aileen N.

First time having pupusas and I was very impressed! My boss and coworker are from Nicaragua and said these are better than the ones they've had in Honduras. They said it's very authentic and not as greasy in comparison. My boss also got the carne asada and said the meat was very tender. Not to mention the owner was super friendly and inviting, and the service was fast!

Best Maduros I have had in years. Truly Maduro! Awesome papusas, with a large variety of options. Authentic horchata. 5 stars plus.

The colors, the decor, the ambiance and the music. It is definitely a place meant for photos. Beyond that, the food was great. The table shared several orders of the Guacamole and the Queso. Both were excellent. The meal also came with table chips and salsa x3. All 3 included salsas were delicious and one of them was quite spicy! For my entree, I had the Birria Tacos. The presentation on this was spectacular, and the entree came with three tacos, the consume, beans, rice and onions. They were truly delicious. I almost forgot the drinks. I had two guava margaritas, and they were an excellent accompaniment. Overall, a great experience. As other people have mentioned, the parking is very limited. After we illegally parked in the back of the next door shopping center, they told us that we could park across the street. I wish that there was a sign in the parking lot at the restaurant indicating that, so that we knew that ahead of time. Luckily, we were not towed from the shopping center; however, if you were visiting for the first time -- you would not have known that.

Not a lot in the area where I parked but maybe there is another parking area nearby with additional spaces. I ordered the fish tacos and they were very tasty. They came with a side of beans and a side of rice which were also tasty. I had the mango margarita. Although it tasted light, the mango flavor was good. The staff person who tended to our table was very attentive and pleasant.

We just left the drive thru after purchasing 2 dozen of bakers dozen of tacos from your location…read more One of our orders was to make those suprême.... no lettuce and tomatoes. The only thing we wanted on one dozen of those tacos was to add sour cream. Granted.... you're already saving in not having to give us lettuce and tomatoes as we ordered them without. Most places will let you know up front and tell you if there is going to be a big upcharge and offer you another way to save you money. This isn't a 5 star sit down restaurant. This is a drive thru only taco joint. We wondered why our bill was so high, but didn't notice until we got home and looked at the receipt to see that you charged us 8.97 for sour cream. You did not tell us that it would be 9.00 extra to simply add sour cream. You could have simply charged us .69 one one order of a sour cream and we could have put the sour cream on ourselves! This is ludicrous and it's sinful that you would rip off your customers by charging them an extra .69 per taco, when you simply could have given us one order of side of sour cream for 69 cents which would have been more than enough to cover the entire dozen. Sour cream does not cost that much and you don't use but a dollop for each taco. We could have bought a couple of quarts at the grocery store for what you charged us to add a teaspoon to each taco! I called to complain and question this outrageous charge and the manager argued with me and wouldn't give me any kind of credit nor work with me on this. She was rude, sarcastic and hung up on me. I called back to get her name and it is Jenna Martinez! She should NOT be in management at all! Your management along with her staff needs to be retrained in customer service and how to interact properly, treat customers and be upfront about your extra charges that you sneak in on people. SHAME ON YOU! WHAT YOU DID IS SIMPLY CROOKED AND SHADY!

A few years ago I had been to La Tia in Metairie, and it left a serious impression. What stuck with me most were the craft cocktails...creative, clever, and a little bit mischievous. I still remember one in particular: a Mexican-inspired cocktail with mezcal and beet juice that somehow managed to taste like summer decided to take a vacation south of the border. It was the kind of drink that makes you pause mid-sip and say, "Okay... whoever thought of this deserves a raise." Somehow the place drifted off my radar over time. But when the craving for Mexican food hit, it popped right back into my head. I was excited to bring my son and daughter-in-law since they had never been. Unfortunately... the reunion didn't exactly go as planned. Two things hit me immediately while looking over the menu. First: the craft cocktails were gone. Not "different." Not "updated." Just... gone. Replaced with the same drinks you see in every other Mexican restaurant. Second: the prices nearly made me spit out the water I hadn't even ordered yet. $6 for a Corona. $18 for a basic burrito with fries. $10 for a kids plate over chicken tenders and some fries. And not the old La Tia burritos either...the ones I remembered piled high with rich molé, bright verde sauces, and layers of flavor that made you wonder if you should be taking notes. Nope. Now we're talking about a plain flour tortilla with some ground meat inside, no sauce, and a side of what looked suspiciously like freezer-aisle French fries. For eighteen dollars. My daughter-in-law ordered the fajitas, and honestly... they were rough. Thin strips of overcooked meat that looked like they had taken a brief vacation in a plastic bag before hitting the grill...served on a plate. Lately I've gotten into the habit of pulling up Yelp photos to compare dishes from past years, and I did exactly that. I found a photo of the same fajitas from about three years ago...big, juicy steak pieces, sizzling on cast iron and full of life. What we got looked like it came from a completely different restaurant. To be fair, my shrimp tacos were actually pretty good. Nicely cooked shrimp, decent flavor, and probably the lone bright spot of the night. But overall, it felt like the La Tia I loved had quietly packed up and left the building. The elevated Mexican food? Gone. The rich sauces? Gone. The inventive cocktails that made the bar worth sitting at? Also gone. In their place: food that feels pulled from a bag... at prices that feel pulled from a luxury menu. It's a tough thing when a restaurant you once loved loses its spark. But sadly, this visit felt less like a reunion and more like running into an old friend who has completely changed--and not for the better. As much as I hate to say it, I don't see myself returning to La Tia anytime soon. Turns out the only thing that stayed spicy... was the price tag.

On our last visit the fajitas were incredibly salty and we did not even finish them. Well, THEY ARE BACK! I am very happy to say this! We went there last week and had the chicken and steak fajitas and they were incredible once again. Great flavor, well seasoned, cooked to perfection. I have one big complaint, however, and it has something to do with their supplier. In my wife's and my opinion, the shells they provide to you for the fajitas are an absolute joke. Taco Bell's shells are larger. Every other Mexican food restaurant I have gone to are larger. Really, guys, I don't want to hear about your supplier, I could not care less and really do not want excuses. Then, the bartender has the Gaul to tell us that they are designed more for pushing than making a fajita! DO NOT tell me how to eat my meal and do not come up with such a poor excuse. This place has great Margaritas. Donnie is an incredible chef putting out the best Fajitas in the city! Don't insult your restaurant, your customers, and Donnie and give your customers Fajita shells that would be better suited to little hands in a grade school cafeteria!

Once I ordered, the food and drinks came out quickly. The 'unlimited' mimosas actually cap at 5, which is fine, but the mix they use cheapens the drink, and the glasses weren't the cleanest. The birria and grits were good (about a 7/10), though I think the pre-shredded Mexican blend cheese on top took away from the dish. A traditional white cheese would have worked better. The birria tacos were tasty, though. The bathrooms could use attention as there were no paper towels, which makes me wonder what employees do after washing their hands. Overall, it was a good experience and definitely cost-efficient. With a few tweaks to the drinks and presentation, this place could easily go from a 3-star to a 4- or 5-star brunch spot. I'll be back to try the tacos and check out the unlimited margaritas.
