We went to Las Brasa's a couple of days ago, hoping to eat their delicious ceviche. The windows were covered with brown paper and the restaurant has closed! What a disappointment. I went for a weekday lunch takeout. Very simple place. Only the cook and one server, but they were both hospitable. I had the Chaufa con Mariscos. It was tasty with an ample portion. Since that is all I had, I'll save the fifth star for a future visit. Give them some love and visit! read more

Flavorful steak fries are a fave! Service was consistent and kind. Ambiance is pretty chill depending on the day and time.

I've never had Peruvian food before, so I was excited to go here. It was excellent! Definitely a family run feel, which was really nice. Our waitress was really sweet and explained the different items since we mentioned we were newbies. I had the Pollo A La Brasa - it was excellent. Very tender and excellently seasoned. The rice and beans I had were amazing (we even got two orders of beans to go, it was so good!). Boyfriend had the Sudado de Pescado (fish with onions and tomato sauce). It was also wonderful. The only thing I was a bit bummed about was that they make a drink made from blue corn but didn't have any, so we tried the bottled kind. It was very good - I'd love to try their homemade sometime. Value was excellent, too. We had a ton of extremely good food at a very reasonable cost with great service. We'll definitely be back. read more

I was really try to get a nice Peruvian meal but I was really disappointing, ceviche was really bad and my fried fish was really cold and had a funny taste. Don't recommend, we payed to much money for nothing and the end we have to go another place to eat. read more

Well seasoned and well prepared Peruvian from a family kitchen and staff who seem to enjoy what they do. The yucca appetizer was superb; crisp on the outside, pillowy center and cut thick enough to really taste like more than the fryer. We had the house chicken and braised pork with rice and beans. The proteins were tender, moist, and flavorful. We tried the Lucuma ice cream, which has a startlingly bright color quite apart from its mellow taste - butter pecan? Caramel? White Chocolate? Couldn't quite decide but it was different and quite nice. Friendly and warm service. We hope to visit again on a Friday for the 'off the menu' specials. Yucca app, 2 entrees, dessert and a soda for $30 with plenty for 2 lunches tomorrow in the take away box. read more

Great small dining location. The outside appearance does not reflect the quality of the inside. We got a variety of foods and all of the items were excellent. This was my first time trying Peruvian food and I was very satisfied. The waitress had quality service and the cook was very friendly when he came out. Small place but delicious! Reasonably priced, especially for the amount of food. My husband had the spicy huevo sandwich, which was delicious. I had the puruvian chicken fried rice, which was also very tasty, and provided leftovers. If you're on the south side of Allentown you need to try this place! read more

Afraid of trying something new we went there and it was far better than we would have imagined. Even our daughter enjoyed the beans and rice. Some meals cost around $9 something but you could expect to split that with another person with generous portions. Not knowing how much we would receive we had leftovers from each meal. Two of the dinners were served with the meats with sauteed red onions and peppers adding a nice flavor as you might expect at a steakhouse. The ceviche was not good at all. Shrimp had no flavor. Ingredients were not fresh. The chicken was good and the chaufa was excellent. The lomo saltado was fantastic. Had a good dinner and would recommend this place just don't waste $15 on Ceviche. read more

The restaurant: - Less ambience than a diner. Hard booths and overly bright fluorescent lighting, with a few small knickknacks on the walls. Plastic disposable cups and sauce containers but metal flatware; generic white Corelle dishes. - Closes at 7 p.m.? Odd timing. - (Don't even get me started on the use of an apostrophe in a plural, but this is Yelp, not a grammar site.) The food: - After my husband and I sat down, we were served a little cup of crunchy, salted corn kernels. They were tasty, like corn nuts. They came with a green (presumably cilantro-based) sauce, which confused us -- the kernels were obviously too small to dip, so were we supposed to spread the sauce on them and then use a spoon to eat them? - Husband ordered fried yucca for both of us and seafood fried rice for himself. As I was limited in my choices because nearly every entree contained onions and onions and I do not get along, I ordered seafood soup and chicken salad. - Inexpensive. - Very generous portions. - Freshly made and steaming hot. - The yucca was basically a starchy medium for the three sauces -- hot, medium, and mild -- that were provided. The medium was the same as the sauce for the corn kernels, while the hot was peppery and the mild had no smell and looked like a blend of mustard and mayonnaise. - Husband's fried rice tasted like something you would find in a Chinese restaurant, with bits of egg and a strong soy taste. - My soup was fine, with lots of seafood. The chicken on my salad was bland. I had the house dressing, a lime vinaigrette. - There was a hair in my salad. - Husband had to make several trips to the bathroom after our meal that evening. The service: - The manager (owner?) was training a new server, and he had a long way to go, both as a waiter and in general human interaction, as he basically ignored me, the woman. Maybe it's a cultural difference, although his accent did not sound as though he was raised outside the United States. When he took our order, I gestured to my husband to go first. After Husband said what he wanted, the waiter asked, "Is that all?" Husband replied yes, and the waiter turned to walk away without asking what I wanted to order. When I asked for additional napkins, the waiter brought them back, set them in front of my husband, and addressed him. When I asked for the check, the waiter brought it to my husband. - I asked for my soup and salad to be served together as my meal, but he brought the soup out to me before even our appetizer was served. - The soup bowl was so big that my spoon slid to the bottom, so I requested a new spoon. When the waiter brought it, I fished out the immersed spoon and tried to hand it to him, but he had already walked away. - The manager was attentive, responsive, and kind. After I asked for no onions on my salad, she returned to ask if red pepper was okay (yes). She also checked on how we were doing and how everything was. - After I notified her about the hair in my salad, she gave us a $10 gift certificate for a future visit. (She couldn't take the salad off the check because the coupon we used basically prepaid for the whole meal.) I wish I were interested in returning. read more
