We signed a contract with Willow Creek Glass Chapel on 2-12-12. The contract stated the new…read morereception hall would hold up to 350 people. After friends of ours had attended a reception there, we called about inspecting it. When we saw the floor that had been installed, we knew there were problems. The floor was wavy and had edges sticking up everywhere. There must be very lax zoning laws in Harrison County to allow that floor to be used. We also understand the air condtioning would not cool the place down, and we were planning a July wedding.Their website now states up to 300 people capacity, not 350 as they told us. In July, 2012, after our inspection, we decided to change venues. Since I had paid $2,000 as a deposit, with only $1,000 required in the contract, I asked for $1,000 back. TWO WEEKS, after my request, and second request, they refused to refund the extra $1,000. Actually, the main problem working with the Willow Creek owners were their terriible communication skills. My wife and daughter had set an appointment with the female owner, and she did not show up. No communication from her what so ever and it is a 25 mile drive for us. Any calls left or emails sent were not returned for days, if we were lucky. With the new venue we picked, communication was great! When I had finally pestered them enough about the refund and threatened to take them to court for the $1,000, the male owner FINALLY MANNED UP and decided he could respond to me. He emailed me that he could be out $5,000 if the wedding did not happen. If their fee is $3,000, how can he be out $5,000. As an owner of a small business, I know communication and reviews are everything. They obviously don't!

When choosing a wedding caterer, my number one concern was the quality of food for the price. I…read moredidn't want to pay an arm and a leg for a meal my guests would enjoy. My second concern was flexibility. Not only did Main Street Market Catering meet my expectations, but went above and beyond. During our cocktail hour we had a charcuterie grazing table with a mix of meats, spreads, crackers/breads, veggies, nuts, fruits, and sauces. This was a BIG hit with our guests. For dinner, we had a pasta bar. We served penne pasta with a choice of red meat sauce, alfredo sauce, and vodka sauce with chicken. They also served salad and breadsticks. Since our wedding, I have received COUNTLESS compliments on the alfredo & vodka sauce. I highly recommend Tracey and her team for your event. They answered all of my phone calls/emails in a timely manner, they were flexible and willing to work with me on the menu, they were professional, friendly and overall great to work with!

They have an interesting looking variety of food, notably breakfast items. I was here for baked goods. If you like almond filling, you're in for a treat. I like the flaky, fragile, messy Danish/Dutch pastries - the bear claw and the Bavarian-cream filled "Napoleon" were particularly good. It's basically just different fillings in various shapes of sugared puff pastry, but they're tasty.

Not a great experience... I booked at this hotel for seven days I stayed at this hotel 2 1/2 days…read more The outside of the hotel was deceptive because it's pretty clean and it's in a small farm town. The inside is a little rundown, but what you would expect in a little motel. I didn't expect bugs like the filthiest of them. Roaches ... and that is one thing I cannot do I can go without hot water and a crappy bed and or heating or air... I can't do bugs. Monday and Tuesday I stayed in Sioux City. Wednesday I went to stay with a friend and was hoping that by Thursday morning the situation would've been taken care of...considering I called the hotel and told them there was bugs in the room I didn't ask to be moved. I just asked for them to please spray, honestly since I seen them there, I wouldn't be bringing any of my items or food in the room. Thursday when I got back I was hoping to just go lay down in my crap bag hotel, but I couldn't really even do that effectively. Bugs again the second queen bed I pulled back the bedspread, and the bugs were still exactly where they were when I covered them back up, I paid almost $340 for 7 days and this is what I got, not super happy, but I didn't see the sign that said no refunds until after I paid...and since they couldn't even spray for bugs. Why bother If you have to stay here because of the price point I get it. I just hope that you get a room with no bugs or your stay is a short one. This is not a good, long-term Hotel... and it's rather unfortunate because there are a couple restaurants in walking distance as well as the grocery store and a gas station..but unless you're used to living with bugs, it's not going to work out super great for ya. As soon as the facility I booked with canceled. I got out of there before 4 AM today I already knew I wouldn't get a refund so no need to raise my blood pressure unnecessarily... Y'all actually have a pretty good location for that little town. It wouldn't take much to clean up your property a little bit and get an exterminator in there.

My room was very clean and quiet, except for the hum of the wall-mounted air conditioner. Even though the motel was almost full, I could not hear my neighbors at all. Room decor is modern and uncluttered, and there with the bonus of a small refrigerator. The bed was firm and comfortable, lots of hot water, Wifi is free with acceptable speed. Nice staff too. The room came with a hot breakfast, available after 6am. There were eggs, sausage, biscuits and gravy, cereal and cinnamon buns...but they were out of yogurt and fruit. Other amenities...there is a smallish indoor pool, with a separate hot tub. This was another nice bonus after a long day on the road. If you are traveling on I-80, this 20-minute detour was well worth the effort. US Highway 6 is almost as fast as the interstate, and an opportunity to get off the slab is really nice when you are crossing the country. Plus you get to see a slice of what makes Iowa lovely...farms, small towns and good folks.
