UPDATE: I have changed the rating from 1 star to 4 stars. The very next day, the manager called me directly. She was very nice and professional, and listened to the problem that I wrote about below. She immediately understood what happened, and issued a full refund. Their policy is indeed what was explained to me on the phone, that the travel fee is $49, and any other diagnostics or repairs have to be quoted and approved by the customer. The manager reiterated that customers should not be charged any amount that they were not aware of. If picking up the screwdriver to poke the ice was going to cost an additional $300, I should have been told about it and given the choice to approve or refuse service. This is why she issued the full refund. I really appreciated her taking the time to call so quickly and have such a quick resolution to the problem. The tech that came out was friendly and professional, and he was able to identify the problem right away. He arrived quickly - in less than 2 hours of my initial phone call to Larry & Sons. He was very respectful and covered his shoes so that my floors wouldn't get dirty which was appreciated since it was raining outside. The positives far outweigh the one negative that happened when it was time to pay. ORIGINAL REVIEW: During the ice storm, my outdoor HVAC unit started making loud clicking sounds and then the fan stopped spinning altogether. I could not immediately see the reason why it stopped, so I called to schedule an appointment. The person on the phone who booked the appointment was very clear that "there was a $49 travel fee. The technician would then take a look at everything and determine what repairs might be necessary. They would give a quote that has to be approved before they complete any work." I repeated back to her that I would not have to pay anything more than the $49 travel fee if I wanted to hold off on repairs for now. (I had a feeling that the problem was something simple, I just didn't see what it was.) She confirmed that that was correct. The only thing that I would have to pay is the $49 travel fee, and anything else would be quoted for me to approve. The technician arrived within an hour or two, and he was very friendly and professional. He went right over to the outside HVAC unit And started looking at the edges around the fan blades. He pointed out that ice was frozen from the wall to the blades and that was what was causing the problem. Face palm moment. I had literally gone outside twice before I had called to check for that exact situation, and somehow I missed that spot. Anyway he took out a screwdriver from his bag and just poked at the ice to make it Fall to the ground. I turned the unit back on and immediately the fan blades were spinning perfectly fine. The problem had been fixed in about 30 seconds with a screwdriver. The time came to pay, and I was expecting to pay the $49 travel fee.Then he said, "Ok, That will be $320. I was shocked. I asked him what in the world the $300 charge was for. He said it was to run the diagnostics. I told him that on the phone they had informed me that the $49 travel fee was to determine the problems there were and what repairs would be needed. He said no the $49 is just to drive to my house. Then the diagnostic fee of $300 has to be paid. I told him I was not made aware of this and I did not approve of that service. The only thing he did was use the screwdriver to poke down the ice on the outside unit. He said that that was what the $300 charge was for. Anytime they touch anything, they have to charge for it. That contradicted what he just said that the $300 charge was for the diagnostics. I responded by pointing out that if that was the repair (Which I acknowledge it was), I was not quoted that repair price ahead of time. Therefore I did not approve it. He again stated that the $49 fee is just to travel, but to come inside and look at the system, it was an additional $300. I repeated that I was not told about this and I did not approve that. read more

It is an extortion. I wouldn't call them for anything. They charge 1200$ for 3 hours of work: Shake a sink, replace a faucet, replace a disposal. They have to come back two more times to snake the sink. Overpriced and quality of work is not there: I understand business needs to make money but this is extortion. read more

I lost all electrical power to my home last night at 9:36pm. After calling Choice and putting in a claim my first claim ever, I was given an appointment for Sunday October 26, 2025. Imagine that! A whole 4days to go without power, and I emphasized to the claim representative that this was an emergency. Needless to say my son reached out to Larry and Son early this morning and they had someone here within the hour. The young man (Drew) was polite, professional and very efficient, he had us back in business with a couple of hours. It's so hard to find good service nowadays, but when you do it goes such a long way, do I need to say that I cancelled Choice, it was my first claim with them and they failed miserably! You charged me $14,135. No wonder you don't break down the cost of labor and parts in your contract. So, again you and your company are way over pricing me still. Ridiculous prices. Wil never call them again. Charged me $330 for a simple shower leak.

Buyer Beware! Larry and Son's provided an estimate for HVAC and a generator. After negotiating terms, we signed the contract and moved forward. At the end of the job, Larry and Son's asks for another 15k to up our electric because they didn't do a load calculation before starting the job. They negotiated the price to $1600.00 and we accepted. They never came to finish the job. I filed a complaint with the States Attorney's office and they have reach out to the company with no response. In their contract they reference that the States Attorney office would be the first line of mediation for their business. I sent a complaint to the BBB and to the State of Maryland Electrical Board. My next step will be to file in court. read more

A 'technician' arrived. He came inside and looked at the leak that was dripping water down from the ceiling. He deduced it was from the upstairs toilet. He quoted us 1,300 for REPLACING the 'leaking' toilet. FYI the replacement toilet would've costed 200. And on top of it all, the leak wasn't even the toilet. It was the sink! We also wanted to get the faucet plate on our kitchen sink removed. He said in response, it would cost the same price as a 'faucet install'. Of course, we got another quote because that is outrageous! We instead went with a different plumbing company called Kelco Plumbing. They removed the faucet plate in 5 minutes and diagnosed the problem with the sink and fixed it! 0/10 Larry and Sons, 10/10 Kelco Plumbing read more

My last service was the replacement of vanity valves they were old. Bryan was the plumber that responded and was very professional, courteous, and efficient. I needed to get a toilet repair done for my brother as a favor to him. I gave an explicit message to the office to run all needed payments to me for payment, not my brother. The service tech, Jeremiah, did not follow those directions and he asked for payment from my brother who I then had to reimburse. To make matters worse, the office told me that the bill to repair would be $186. When I spoke to Jeremiah directly to confirm this price, he told me that information was wrong, that the bill was $447, or more. He was not pleasant on the phone, telling me to look at some email he sent rather than talk to him directly about this discrepancy. I declined their services for obvious reasons. This will be the last time I will use Larry and Sons for my plumbing needs. read more

I am very impressed with Larry and Sons. They are professional and have shown me things, that I didn't even know about. Things like surge protectors in your electrical box and need to have your heating system cleaned out in the fall. They are also the best deal in town. I purchased a house and the previous owners had used Larry & Sons so I thought I would continue with that established relationship. The home inspector said I needed a new water heater immediately, so I called to make an appointment for a week after we closed on the house. They would not schedule an appointment for an estimate until I basically provided proof that we had closed on the house. When I called back to schedule the estimate, they wanted $50 just to give an estimate and that fee was not credited to the price of the future work. Seriously? I'm sorry, giving an estimate on a job is a cost of doing business and the time to earn the customer's business. Strong arming me into using your business because I've committed to a $50 fee does not sit well with me. So I called another company who told me to send them a picture of the old water heater. They gave me a quote over the phone FOR FREE and came the next day to replace the water heater. Larry & Sons lost a $2000 job over a $50 estimate fee. And my future business and referrals. Extremely unhappy with the services they provided which were not resolved. Came out 2 different days, total of 5 hours and fixed nothing. Quoted $1240 for a flush out. Spent over a grand for no resolution. A different business RR did the same job they quoted 1240 for for 300 in less than 20 minutes. I'm not alone in this feeling as I posted in a local group and was inundated with more comments about serious overcharges. read more

Were very quick to respond however I feel like I was taken advantage of. Replaced the capacitor in my a/c in 5 minutes and charged $495. Was told by someone it shouldn't have been more than $200 at the most. Got no invoice and no receipt. Not a very happy 78 year old lady. Will not use them again. read more

don't trust them. they told me that there was a $99 fee to come out and just take a look at a flickering ceiling light. the $99 fee to come out is literally just to drive out to your place. once they come in is when they start an additional fee for diagnostic which he was there 10 min and charged an additional $100. he never even turned a screwdriver. read more

I called Larry and Son for AC issue in my office. they were able to come next day, which was great. I have 2 AC, one for front of the office, one for the back of the office. the front one was working, back one eco bee has no power. the technician told me that fuse was blown in the back AC, so he switched a new fuse, it was working again. the bill was $900+. it is little expensive, hey, I thought AC is working, I am ok with that. however, shortly after they left, the front AC that was working previously stopped working. I called another company, and they said someone left the panel for front AC on the ground and hot air got into the AC, he placed the panel door back, and the front AC back to working again. I don't like the fact that they left the panal door open and caused me had to get someone else in for something that should not even happen in the first place. read more

This company is responsible for ruining my kitchen floor and basement ceiling, resulting in thousands of dollars in needed repairs. A possible leak was noticed in a house I was about to purchase. We had one of the company's plumbers come out. They could not figure out the leak. The plumber didn't actually look for a leak. I wrongfully assumed they checked the sink and dishwasher right where the potential leak was. It turns out there was a giant hole in the dishwasher. I use the dishwasher once, leaks into my floor and basement ceiling. The plumber didn't actually check. For some reason, didn't use common sense to check water appliances right where the leak was. So my wood kitchen floor is destroyed. And this company wasn't interested in making things right because their plumber was drunk or incompetent. read more

The technicians were pleasant and professional. When I made the appointment I attempted to get a price quote from the office for very specific work. They would not give a per hour labor cost. They would not give me a price quote until the repairman came then they quoted me $1400 for a project. It would take no more than two hours and I had the parts. I refused the service and will do the repair myself. This is a terrible bait and switch. I would not recommend them ever. read more

Technicians required clarification of tasks multiple times and still messed up the installation. They then charged more money to fix their errors. Prices are insanely high. I was charged 450 dollars for them drilling 15 holes in a completely unfinished basement. They also charge 40 times the price for PVC and fittings. They have some honest people working for the company, but there are much better options. I do not recommend going with Larry And Sons for any job. read more
