Beware! The broth for the Minestrone soup is beef. I was shocked to find this out. An Italian vegetable soup made with beef broth. I'm so glad that I asked lots of questions when I placed my order or I wouldn't have know until I tasted the soup. I'm grateful for the server double checking after I asked about the soup. We were there for a family meal. Our server was awesome and she took great care of us. I had the crustless pizza in a bowl so I could get it made vegan- no meat, no cheese. Was craving spaghetti and stopped off at the Mt Zion Rd location at 8:10pm only to be told the dining room was already closed?? We continued on the road to the Florence-Banker St location and were seated right away. We had 2 servers (one in training) that were friendly and professional and on top of refills and grabbing whatever we needed. We ordered the all you can eat spaghetti with meat sauce (upgrade) and our meals came with a very large salad (very generous portion) and was tasty and fresh. Our meals arrived in a timely manner but appeared to have been either dropped or tossed in a pan before they found its way back on the plate (see photos - how they were served). I first wondered if someone had eaten part of mine and my wife was wondering the same. We stared at the plates but went ahead and ate since it was getting late. Spaghetti was hot but the meat sauce had a "burnt" taste to it. I finished mine but the wife opted for a box to take home (along with the meals was your choice of garlic breadsticks or toast) the breadsticks were fresh and hot. As much as I love LaRosa's I have to question the presentation of both plates on this visit. read more

We ordered online. It was very simple. They even had coupons if you spent over $15 or $25 so we were able to use that. When we arrived, they had signs up in each parking spot with directions on how to get your carry out order. It's similar to how Chick fil a does it. Basically you just text the number on the sign with your name and spot number, and they bring your order out to you. They brought it out soon after I texted them. As always, the food was delicious. My only complaint is that they forgot the sauce we ordered. It only costs $0.75, but we ordered it so I wish we got it. read more

Monumental underwhelming experience, short and sweet. After living in the area for over a year I have heard several positive comments about the pizza from LaRosa's but until a few days ago I had yet to try it. So, I placed an order online and headed to the store. The medium two topping pizza was ready a few minutes ahead of the estimated time, so I thought hey, things are off to a good start. After getting home and opening the box, that is where things went from warm and fuzzy to blah... and quick! First off, the toppings... or maybe I should say the lack of them. Very scarce on the sausage I ordered and the spinach (which sadly was not even garlic roasted, as other pizza places serve) was miniscule! Seriously, highway robbery to charge for what you get on the pie. Next, the pizza sauce. Welcome to the Mid-West folks where ketchup is an exotic flavor, and even ketchup has more flavor flavor than LaRosa's sauce. Not a hint of anything other than plain tomato puree. Heck, even salt which is something I never add to food would have made a slight improvement. Finally, the hand tossed crust. Again, hit the snooze bar on the flavor meter, because the crust had all the flavor of a cheap loaf of white bread. So there you have it... an epic food failure from LaRosa's. Just shy of $15 for a medium 2 topping pizza. I think Ill go to a major chain location and spend half as much and be slightly more impressed. read more

February 17th was my husband's birthday and he wanted to order from LaRosa's. Our pizza was to arrive by 4:45, it didn't arrive until about 5:15. We were disappointed because when it did arrive, it was barely warm. There's no reason that it should arrive so late, we live just a few minutes away. I heard lots of good stuff about this place, so we ordered a veggie pizza with extra spinach and extra veggies. I even asked the "operator" who did NOT seem to be part of this location (a true La Rosa operator?)... she assured me of extra veggies .... Seems like a minor issue but that is huge for vegans! Pizza came out and there were hardy any toppings at all!!! I even asked the 3 ladies standing at the register "does this look like a lot of veggies? They all said no way!" They took the pizza back for a remake and was told by the "pizza chef" (lol) " that this was the correct amount of veggies"! Went by myself for dinner, sat at a table in the back room. Ordered a glass of water and cab wine. I asked the waitress what the most popular pasta is at this place. She said the Lasagna. So I ordered it, with garlic toast and a salad. The dinner salad is fairly standard, I had both french and blue cheese dressings. The Lasagna came before I finished the salad, which actually was a good thing. Usually it seems to take 10 minutes before Lasagna cools down enough to not burn ones mouth. The Lasagna was very good, tender noodles, tasty sauce, cheese and meat. Overall, it was a great experience, especially because the staff there is friendly and helpful. Total transparency I am not writing about one specific location. Just a totality of trying this pizza from different locations in OH and KY for a while. The service itself has always been ok to great but I didn't eat this for the service but the pizza. Its just not as good as what people make it out to be. I think the sauce lacks and the pizza itself seems to come from a conveyer belt. I don't know exactly but I do know I have had better in other places. It seems to me that this brand is just popular because it's become a household name and nobody checks it anymore. Management doesn't have any concern for employees or patrons, as evidenced by a lack of staff and poor service attitudes in even the oldest of their staff. It's hit rock bottom. Cincinnati's famous pizzeria is one of those places that either you love or you hate. Growing up, I really didn't like LaRosa's sweet pizza sauce, but something changed as my tastebuds matured. Now, I'm hooked on this pizzeria's distinct flavor. When it comes to pizzas, I'll always go with LaRosa's deep dish Buddy Topper. With pepperoni, two types of sausage (one spicy, one mild), banana peppers, capocolla, and extra provolone, this is truly one unforgettable pizza. My brother, who now lives out of town, insists this is the second place we eat every time he comes to visit (the first restaurant is Gold Star). Their hoagies are pretty fabulous, too. I must have a thing for Buddy, because I love the Baked Buddy. Think of it as a Buddy Topper on a bun, with Italian dressing. Their steak hoagies are good, but don't have anything on Papa D's in Hebron. For the longest time, I always ordered the 3 cheese and 3 meat calzone until a friend, who worked there pointed out the item's nutritional information. With over 1000 calories and 55 grams of fat, I couldn't justify filling myself with something so unhealthy. Really, I think the calzones are probably one of restaurant's best offerings, so if you're worried about your waistline, get a veggie calzone with just provolone and split it with a friend. Add a side salad and you've got a meal that won't blow your entire calories allowance in one sitting. read more

Cheap, ordinary pepperoni on the pizza and the crust tasted like undercooked frozen pizza. My wife and I didn't eat it, just threw it away. The salad was nothing special. The wait staff here are so kind, attentive, and focused on the customers. The food was really good, and although they were busy, we got it quickly. The only reason I am giving it 4 stars instead of 5 is because I could see into the kitchen from where I was sitting, and none of the kitchen staff I could see were wearing gloves. Larosa is one of my favourite pizza joints and this was my first visit to this particular location. The store looked spotless and our waitress was fantastic. I'll start with my lovely wife's food which was a Turkey BLT Salad and French Onion Soup. The salad was loaded with bacon, turkey, and tomatoes (well croutons too). She was very happy with it. The French Onion Soup was also on the money as it had such great flavour and certainly didn't lack onion. My food was great as well. I went with the lunch which I decided to get a small pizza with pepperoni and sausage with the thin crust. I chose fries as the side. All of this was only $7.79 which is a great deal. The pizza was spot on as Larosa's pizza generally is. Great crisp crust, delicious sauce, lots of cheese, and the pepperoni and sausage was tremendous as well. The fries were the thicker kind and perfect for ketchup dipping. All in all a delicious, filling meal for not much money. I couldn't ask for anything more. read more

It's been a couple years since I've visited this LaRosa's. I usually get delivery from another location that consistently sells misshapen, underdone pies...but that's another story. So I arrived around 5:30 on a thurs to a surprisingly not very busy store. I used the restroom (a good indicator of whether a place is managed well or not!) and it was deplorable. Unclean toilets and paper towels in the sinks. Was I at a LaRosa or Sunoco?? Management was not notified but it wasn't busy enough to be that dirty that early in the evening. So I ordered the new Sicilian (apparently, Buddy is Sicilian, who knew?) where the waitress told me it's pretty much just like the original pizza except the sauce is different. Great, since I think the original sauce is too sweet. So when the pizza came out it was lukewarm and not very tasty. I ordered it with pepperoni, mushroom, sausage, onion and green pepper, and the pepperoni was MIA! The waitress, for all her millenial fortitude, forgot to check on us so we had to flag her down for refills, etc. But the most aggravating part of the experience was that I ordered a tossed salad (for someone else) to go, specifically requesting the cheese on the side. When I got home I found the cheese on the salad and everything else-olives, onion,etc in small to-go containers! They couldn't even follow simple instructions! Needless to say, Larosa's needs to get their act together. This isn't Buddy LaRosa's pizza or service anymore, and it's sad. There are too many other pizza places that I think dish out a better product which I'll spend my money at next time I need get my pizza on! read more

"Meh, I've experienced better" is definitely the most accurate emotion and review I have of LaRosa's. As I've mentioned in many other reviews, I am a pizza snob (as are all New Yorkers and New Jersey-ites). I know when I eat pizza out of New York that it will not be up to my standards, and I'm okay with that; however, LaRosa's pizza is wrong in many ways. Firstly, the way it's cut. God, I have no idea why they cut their pizza this way. I'm okay with cutting pizza into squares/rectangles... if it's a square/rectangle to begin with! When cutting something round into squares, you're going to have several crust-only pieces which I think is awful. Sure, it creates strategy when eating the pizza with a group, but I just don't like it and never will. The taste of the sauce (and the scarce amount of it) is very appealing to me, so LaRosa's gets points for that. Also, I love their lunch specials (soup + salad, italian lunch option, etc.). Other than that, I just don't enjoy eating there. I find it to be a half-hearted attempt at being an authentic pizzeria... but it just doesn't hit the important marks. read more

I haven't had a LaRosas in a couple of years and there is one right down the street from me. Here's the deal. IF you are from the Cincinnati area, you will probably like this pizza. A very generic pizza, cheap and fast. I believe those are the primary goals of pizza consumers from this part of the country. I will say that the atmosphere is pretty good in the Florence location. Feels like a modern chain establishment (think Fridays, Applebees) and had a good beer selection, last time I was there. PS: Don't eat the sausage. I think it is cat food! This review is specifically for the Florence, KY location. I've had about 5 delivery orders in a row from here where the pizza(s) were delivered raw. Who wants to eat raw, liquidy pizza dough? It's awful...and I've had to call and complain multiple times. Each time they have given me a full or partial credit, and finally told me to select "well done" when I ordered the pizza. I did that, and it still came raw. It sucks to spend $15 on a pizza and then have to put it in the oven because it's raw. Last time I checked if I wanted a pizza I had to cook myself I went to Papa Murphy's. The last time I complained I got a full credit and they explained that the more toppings you put on pan crust the harder it is to cook to dough throughout. Well, that's just tough. They should figure it out. We had 3 toppings on the pizza, not 20. Finally had enough, not ordering from here ever again. read more

Hometown favorite! Excellent pizza overall: from the homemade crust, sauce, provolone cheese to the toppings. I highly recommend what I call the the "Kings Island" pizza which is a traditional thin crust with cheese and pepperoni (on top of the cheese). I also recommend the JoJo's BLT salad it has crisp bacon, diced tomatoes, greens and croutons with LaRosa's Creamy Garlic dressing. Two secrets... 1 ~ You can purchase the medium or large traditional or hand tossed crusts and sauce at the restaurants! Works great for having pizzas to make at home versus frozen. 2 ~ The Philly CheeseSteak Hoagy is not on the menu but you can order it!
