Quality craftsmanship at a fair price, which is getting harder to find these days. It's a small shop, but they make great use of the space with a solid selection of wallets, belts, and other leather goods. You can tell they take pride in what they offer. Service was friendly without being pushy. I appreciated being able to browse and take my time. Overall, a really nice local small business. Leather enthusiasts, we were excited to drive the distance in appreciation and support of brick and mortar craftspeople. Maybe she was having one of those days, but unfortunately the owner was suspicious of our friendly attempts at conversation and made an outright accusation that we were on some kind of reconnaissance mission to steal ideas. A simple Pinterest search yields more inspiration, dear friends. Nothing super original in the tiny shop; simple to gaudy mediocrity- def not why we made the trip. And anyhow, dismissing potential champions of small biz craftsmanship (I left wishing to see the small work gloves my nephew could treasure) seems a transparently insecure betrayal of one's biases. Much to my chagrin I read a negative review regarding Large Leather and it's owner Jessica. It couldn't be further from the truth. Every encounter I've had with the owner has been incredible. The leather craftsmanship rivals Europe. My purchases were on par with products I've purchased in London. It's apparent that Jessica cares deeply about her art. Beautiful leather store right on Sonoma Square. The place struck my eye when we had passed by it the prior evening when walking to dinner. It was closed then and i was lucky to catch it open the next day while still in town. One of the owners Jessica was friendly and attentive to her customers. She indicated that this was a family run business. This is absolutely a small business that should be supported! You could see the quality and care that went into each and everyone of their products. The leather of the bags and goods was buttery soft. I purchased 3 leather bracelets that I love. The one I really liked didn't fit quite right so Jessica found one in a larger size that she was able to quickly alter to fit perfectly. So happy with the finished product. Would absolutely return. These craftsmen - who actually own the store - really know what they're doing. I had difficult time deciding what to purchase, but I finally settled for a small cross-body purse. Jessica is soooooooooo nice! She custom made me a small Red and Black Backpack/Purse when the exact color combo wasn't already made up. They have beautiful belts, hats, wallets, you name it. I cannot believe how disrespectful the owner of this shop was. I had never been in this store before and straight up told the lady that I was a leather worker and showed her the purse I had made. I also mentioned that I had lost my house and leather sewing machine in the fires and my bag was getting old and I was looking to replace it soon. I obviously can't make a new one since my machine and tools burned up, so I was a potential customer of her business. I told her I appreciate leather work because you don't see it hand crafted as often anymore. When I inquired about a couple items she told me to "Go somewhere else to get your ideas!" Implying I should leave her store. Seriously?! I was appalled at how catty and utterly rude she was to assume I was trying to steal her designs which were relatively basic compared to mine. I am an artist and costume designer and make only custom one of a kind pieces. I specialize in detailed native style beadwork, and leather embellished with stones. None of which she had in her store. As an artist myself, I would never copy another artists work, how presumptuous of her to assume that and ask me to leave. Also, anyone who was trying to do that would not be so transparent as to tell you they were another local leather worker and then take your ideas.
