Maybe I should have paid more attention to the low reviews. I kept going here due to the location and the generally friendly customer service. Sadly they ruined my favorite silk top by stapling the receipt and paper into the top. I called to request a refund and they refused via phone unless I bring the garment into the store. It's inconvenient for me to make a special trip, so I offered to send photos instead but they refused, saying they want to "see if anyone made a mistake". Well, it's not worth the trouble to bring it in and discuss it for a $9 refund, since it already sounded like the error was up for debate. So instead, I'll simply go elsewhere from now on. I visit Sonoma from time to time for my work, and I was in town yesterday for a work party. I bought a new dress for a new phase in my life and I had this outfit all planned out. I check into a local hotel, and when I prepped their iron to steam my dress to gently remove the wrinkles, it spit out rusty brown water on my white dress! I nearly died. Okay, that's a little dramatic, but I was freaking out. I googled and landed on Crown cleaners. I called, and I explained my situation and I was told by Kanak to bring in the dress for review. My husband went often, I went occasionally to pick up for him, and we were both extremely satisfied every time. The owner, Kanak Raj, might very well be the nicest person on the planet. He is certainly the most authentic! He truly cares about people. My husband changed jobs and neither of us needed dry cleaning for years. I recently went back with some clothes for my daughter and was prepared to be shocked at the cost for 2 formal dresses and a really nice sweater. I was shocked, but only because it was so much less than I expected! And Kanak was every bit as friendly and helpful as I remember - he still remembered us and our kids. Took my wife's wedding dress in after our wedding to be cleaned. Owner charged us $200 and we returned a week later to a dirty dress. It was apparently pressed dirty - which is insane for a $12,000 silk, couture gown. Owner would not admit wrong and were adamant we asked for a press (after our wedding). No refund of money to the card we paid with. Owner is operating in bad faith, stay away if you're in Napa/Sonoma looking for your dress to be dry-cleaned. Destination weddings beware. read more

In Sonoma for vacation, took some pants and shirt in for dry cleaning. Now mind you I live in Rancho Palos Verdes, Ca. A very nice side of town in Los Angeles. I take a number of dress pants, suits and shirts in all the time to be washed or dry cleaned. So I asked if I can get them the next day? Afternoon is fine, I am dropping them off at 7:30 am, so very early in the day. Also I am not asking for same day service. I go in after three, the guy said I waited for you yesterday. I looked at him and told the lady told me today after 2, I didn't ask for same day service? He then told me the price, 29.00! 12 dollars for each pair of pants and 5 for the shirt. 12.00 for pants WTF! I pay about 4 at home! I may pay 8 at a hotel which is high, but 12.00 ? I know I should have asked when I drop them off, but this is way out of line. I hope if you read this review, that you will go somewhere else. read more

Picked up two new shirts I had dropped off for laundry and press and they looked like they were ten years old and had been dragged through a lint pile. The color had a faded look and the shirts were covered in lint. To top it off the girl couldn't find them at first. She spent five to ten minutes roaming around the shop looking for them. Last month, I brought a very expensive, very sentimental dress to Crown Cleaners. This dress was a black halter (satin) with a gold foil lily pattern down the left side of it. It was a gift I had only worn it twice, and have had it successfully cleaned before. Crown Cleaners totally destroyed it. A relative picked up the dress for me, saying the cleaners claimed they "hand washed" it. All the gold was completely stripped off the dress, with nothing in its place but adhesive. I was devastated. When I called the business, the owner then stated they "dry cleaned" it. Funny, because the label says PROFESSIONAL SPOT CLEAN ONLY!! I appreciated that the owner admitted he may have made a mistake, and asked me to bring it in. He took my contact information and said he would get back to me. I waited a week. Never heard back. So, annoyed, I finally called and asked wtf's the status, Gladys. He said, yes indeed they messed up and asked me to return yet again. In the store, he said since I looked like a "nice girl", he would give me $100 for the dress (because, clearly, it was still wearable) and a $30 cleaning credit. I said, this is still wearable, huh? It looks like there's glue goo all over my black satin dress, where the gold should be. I also asked him to please return the $20+ we spent to get the dressed cleaned in the first place. I also asked him to please reimburse me more than just $100, since the SALE price of this dress was listed at $180 (no where close to what it originally cost). He argued with me with no good reasoning that he wouldn't pay anymore. I then said I would rather he write me a check for the $30 store credit because I had absolutely intention of bringing any business back here again. Instead, he wrote me a check for $112 - $100 for the dress and $12 for part of the cleaning fee. He started getting hostile and yelled at me in front of another customer. He also had the NERVE to ask me if he could keep my dress!!! F this place. My family used to bring significant business to Crown Cleaners, but not anymore. In all honesty, it wasn't the fact that the dress got ruined. Ultimately, it was how poorly he handled this situation and how he treated me, the customer. He didn't even have the professionalism to return my call, as he said he would. The check he issued me said "experts in formal wear" on it. At least that part was good for a laugh :\ Needless to say, this was the worst customer service experience of my life. read more

Crown did an absolutely FANTASTIC job of steaming and pressing my gown, as well as my husband and his best man's suits. They took such care with everything and the owner could not have been kinder. I call before going into the store, and it is explained to me that Crown does alterations. However, when I arrived the next day to drop off my curtains, the man behind the counter tells me it is "against California law" to do an alteration (on any item) and NOT dry clean the item. Having lived in California for some time (and taken clothes to be altered and NOT dry cleaned), I knew what he was saying was a lie designed to swindle me out of money. This amateur outfit really let me down on a tuxedo rental. I went through the laborious process of completing their online form for a rental (apart from excessive measurement requirements, you need to visit different sites and pages) and called them when I hadn't heard anything 5 days before the event. The incompetent man there told me that my request must have gone through to his junk mail. I had to explain no joke about 6 times that I didn't email him, I completed the form on his website and pressed submit, following which his webpage confirmed my request! He never got it. I was then told I would be paying significantly extra as it was all last minute and the tux would need to be couriered. I told him where to go. We always had our dry cleaning done there. It was OK. I brought a pair of pants in there to be hemmed. They had my pants for a month, then I got them back and they were not shortened correctly because the owner gave some vague instructions to the tailor. My wife called him and he talked over her and had every excuse in the book-" It's costing him money, he doesn't have control of the tailor, it was my fault." I took them back and said " Give me my $18.00 back and I will take the pants and get them shortened somewhere else." He said " No, he would make it right." I went in to pick them up a few days after they were to be ready and they were not there. More excuses. I said " call me when they are ready." Two weeks later I got a call " that my pants are ready." I went to pick them up. The owner was curt with me, obviously displeased. I tried on the pants one leg is longer than the other. He claimed it " cost him $30. to get the pants shortened." He previously said " it cost him $ 25.00." Then he said " it was my fault." Finally I went off. I told him " you had my pants for a month and a half and couldn't get it right." "That it wasn't my concern, as a customer, about his problems with his tailor. It was not my concern that he can't control his operation." Then I said "Take a good look at my face, you will not be seeing it again." I took my pants and left. The guy has excuses for everything and he lies. Never again. read more
