This place really got my goat today.
For starters we pulled in with a RV hauling a car and two of the Sunoco pumps were out of gas, so we had to circle the lot jammed with well drilling trucks, trucks with trailers etc...a very busy place. The customers were respectful even though everyone was in a hurry...no big deal, just time consuming and somewhat nail-biting.
The really annoying part was the Laredo Taco Co....the food business inside the Sunoco. Initially I attempted to order items on the menu posted above the serving line, but they don't really have what's on the menu, basically they tell you to visually select an item by pointing at the hot plates in front of you. I always am polite and respectful of people who are working and so I played along, but was mildly annoyed. My husband correctly and immediately read the situation and walked away. Slower on the uptake and really wanting breakfast, I selected the main part of the taco; egg and brisket combo and then wanted to add cheese and chorizo. The lady suggested beans instead. No, I truly preferred chorizo and cheese. Well, they don't actually have chorizo, but chorizo-flavored potatoes. Ok whatever, just put it all in there. So, what surprise awaited me in the bag of food delivered to the convenience store counter for payment? (Which they don't tell you...I was standing there waiting with other items and decided to pay for them while awaiting for the prepared food. I digress, back to the bag of food). Well, somewhere further down I-10, I discovered there were actually two tacos on the bag! Yes! I can share with my husband! Yes! two for the price of one! Awesome! I didn't see that on the menu, but then again, they don't actually follow the menu....but...wait...oh disappointment. Instead of having two egg/brisket/chorizo-potato/cheese 'tacos' (we actually call them tortillas in AZ. In my mind tortillas are soft, tacos are hard), I had one egg/brisket taco and one potato-chorizo taco...no...cheese..on...either...grrr. Like who the hell wants just a fake chorizo-potato taco? Seriously. Look at the picture, it's ridiculous. You can't see the picture of my egg/brisket only taco cause I ate it. There's where the second star comes in, it tastes really good. The potato/chorizo taco never made it into my belly.
