Every single time I'm in Pecos, this is the only place I look forward to eating at. The environment is nice and clean. I order the pacific sushi roll and lettuce wraps with either shrimp or fish. My favorites! The green table salsa is spicy but flavorful. The bartenders make excellent drinks! They smoke their old fashions and I can't help but always order 1-2 during my visit. 55 for a 18 dollar at best steak meal. No honestly it was by far the most terrible steak dinner I have ever had in my life. I wouldn't feed my dog this meal. If you get the side of mash potatoes, expect the size of an infants fist as to the amount you'll be getting. I should have sent it back but had to get it a chance, just as expected TERRIBLE. But after some assurances from locals that their seafood was indeed fresh, I qavered and was glad I did. The place Is eclectic to say the least, with neon signs, rustic tables, and spirited Ranchera music more akin to a mom-and-pop cantina. I wasn't sure which way to start, but the server recommended the Aguachiles with shrimp and octopus. And, I began to undertstand how much thought went into this at first seemingly incongruous eatery. Our entrees varied from rather standard Baja Fish Tacos, to perfectly prepared Shrimp and Bacon entrees, I had the Seafood Fajitas, and loved the subtle, almost Yucatan, seasonings. This spot filled quickly and I recognized quite a few faces from almost 40 years ago. It is a gem in a very unlikely small town. I would love to give it a perfect five rating, but I was bothered by the initial awkwardness of the two hostess not being able, (or possibly unwilling) to speak English. Visited on a Monday evening for dinner after a field visit in Mentone, it was one of the only places open! We were immediately sat and a waitress who did not speak english swapped out for a waiter who did. Bottled water, no tap! The green sauce and tortilla chips are SOOOO good, the perfect level of spice. We also ordered a guacamole, which is pretty small and mostly veggies not avocado, but still good. Really great atmosphere for the location. Biggest issue is that I ordered a water and they brought me a bottle of water, the more expensive "smart" water type. I thought this was odd because these were more expensive. When I got my bill I was charged $4 for water. I didn't see any signs and no one mentioned or asked before bringing it. With water traditionally being free, really think they should be asking if you want a 4$ water. Margarita was out of a bottle with sprite added, but that was my fault for not asking or reading before ordering one since they didn't have liquor. Didn't have fresh salsa for the chips. Was a green creamy sauce. Overall I enjoyed the visit but just wasn't impressed with any of the food items or drinks. Will need to revisit to try something else. read more

The only margaritas they had were mango, unable to make margarita on the rocks, and the mango wasn't that great and a tad overpriced. Chips were stale and we received a blank stare from the bartender when we asked for another basket. The salsa was delicious though. The food we saw looked good but the bartender acted like we were bothering him by sitting there, maybe we would have been better received at a table? Except King Shark only serves beer and wine. Food is good. Seafood is fresh. Make sure you check your bill. Had an issue with mine. Got it corrected though. Staff is friendly and accommodating. First of all no one here was overly nice. Kinda seems normal in this town. We were seated and some one finally came over to take our drink order. We each ordered a margarita. The table next to us was seated and waited on after us and still got their drinks before we did. When they finally came out, the margaritas were GROSS! The waitress just said they weren't there and nothing was done to fix the issue. They didn't seem to care much. They also didn't understand the simple concept of splitting the bill. To start, the drinks we had are absolutely AMAZING. You will find the some of best Michaeladas in west Texas. And that is not an exaggerated statement. It's crazy how this beautiful gem is located in a small town like Pecos. A restaurant of this quality would do tremendously well in San Antonio. Everything here makes you feel like you're in a pacific or beachfront setting. In the middle of West Texas! Can you imagine that? I'm usually iffy about eating at a non-coastal seafood restaurant. But I will say, this seafood is fresh and sublime. The shrimp and fish is absolutely wonderful and the rice is full of flavor there's no other place in town like it. Again with the beach vibes, you will feel like you're on vacation here. The staff is extremely welcoming and friendly and very hospitable. Safety is a priority and sanitizer is offered. You get a sense of being at home or at a beach in Mexico because of the random sinking coming from the kitchen, that must be why the food is so delicious. The cooks are happy cooking.
