Also, just pave the back day area already, too many times I've come and have to park back there. It's bad enough it's SO far away, but for Pete's sake, when it rains it gets pretty nasty back there!

Thank you Metro-North for doing better than my own state. New Haven Line service has great scenery plus electric outlets. And South Norwalk in particular was a pleasant surprise. Not only was there was a decent bathroom and phone-charging capability, but being able to enjoy a bit of AC and watch News 12 was, to quote Eric Bogosian, the icing on the gravy.

As I'm in this area often, I stop off on this stop on the 6 more then any other except probably Astor Place. When it comes to the station itself, it's pretty clean of garbage, the trains run on time and other then the scent of rotting fish on the uptown side (which either I'm getting used too or is disappearing), it's not too shabby. The 6 train itself from Brooklyn Bridge/City Hall in itself usually is pretty mellow, which is quite nice when heading out to dinner or shopping. Nevermind the fact that you're probably going to spend way too much money on goods you don't need to somehow validate your self worth (as we all tend to do in this area)...at least you're starting off somewhat on the right foot as subway stops go.

A quite small + shabby + rundown looking subway station at the Spring Street stop for the local 6…read moreroute. Would often see the huge rats chasing after each other on the tracks. Eek, no thanks. Old strip of paint peeling here and there from the railings as usual. Everything rusty and moldy clouding with dust all over the cracked cement ceiling. You don't even wanna look up to see any of that tbh. Cracks on the flooring + gaps should've been filled in between the walls. Just like the usual, it makes me feel like I'm back in the nineties. Everything looking torn + miserable + worn down. Don't be surprised of how most MTA subway stations look as gloomy on the outside as they do from the inside. Not every station is as new and modern looking as the Hudson Yards location. Sad but true. There's an OMNY machine standing in the corner against the wall. A dirty staircase on each side of the entrance/exit. Spring Street doesn't have the newly-installed turnstiles yet though. Hopefully they'll install those soon to make it look/feel less depressing.

Ticket machines at every level. It shows the next train coming in. I didn't see any ground crew but I'm sure there's an info booth somewhere. Signs and labels to direct passengers. Pretty straightforward. Looks like all gates are digital. Scan and code and enter. There are indoor waiting areas at the platforms which is very practical during cold weather.

In the spirit of fairness, the long-awaited has few rivals in ambition. Like the Barclays station, it uses a complex transit engineering paradigm that I call "diagonals." Compared to that Brooklyn hotspot, its existence battles against more car addicts who have elected transit-hating governors of both parties. Certainly it simplifies Metuchen to Montvale commutes. There are nice touches like a site-specific art, but also intentional steps to make it less convenient. The bizarre gate system requires you to swipe your ticket through intermittently working scanners, increasing the likelihood of missing a train. On one occasion, when NJT mishaps would have left me waiting at Broad St. for maybe two hours, I was refused entry at Secaucus, the worker treating me as if I was trying to get into the Limelight in the 80s while wearing a Kohl's shirt. Do I rate this station on being less depressing than Newark Penn although with worse retail options? Do I applaud it for being better than nothing? Two stars for now, maybe I'll revise if the governor shows more interest in transit than in tweeting about whether it's called pork roll or Taylor ham.

Depending on the time of day, you get something different in the early morning, the sunrise reflects off the Hudson River at night, the city lights create a stunning glow and during sunset, the colors hit the buildings in a way that looks unreal. Honestly, what more can you ask for while waiting for your train?

Nice little train station in the heart of Garden City. You'll find two platforms when you climb up…read moretwo stories of stairs. There's also a set of elevators if you don't wish to climb stairs. Once you're there, you can purchase a ticket or what me and my friend did was just jump on tje train heading towards Penn Station. A train attendant will eventually ask all passenger for their tickets or pay onboard either using cash or credit card. How much was a one-way ticket to Penn Station? It was only $17/pax! Few shaded areas with lots of views making it a pretty awesome ride into Manhattan. You'll reach there in less than 30 minutes because on Sunday's it operates on a rapid express route skipping several stations. It's an enjoyable ride and per Google, there was an option to transfer at Jamaica Station. But since the faster route brought us to Penn, it cut even more time. Lot's of people seem to keep to themselves, I'm pretty sure that you will come across beggars or train performers, so always keep track of your belongings and stay vigilant as this is city public transportation. I bet on weekdays it can get extremely crowded like what you'd typically go through during rush hour. However you need to experience riding The Meteo in NYC. It's fun. Definitely recommend!

It is also possible to purchase tickets on-line. The train was very prompt and on schedule. The ride was quiet. The windows could have been cleaned so the we could enjoy looking outside. The inside of the train cars were very clean. My one big complaint is that when we arrived at the Carle Place station from Penn Station, the door opened for just a few seconds and we couldn't get off the train. We had to ride to the next station and walk 25 minutes to our destination. It was late at night. Luckily it was a safe neighborhood. I don't know if we were supposed to do something to get the door to open. There were no officials in our train car to ask.

It is much bigger than I expected, and the elevators make it really easy to get around. I appreciate that it feels accessible for everyone. I have been here at different times of the day, and it has never been overly crowded, which makes getting in and out so much easier. There are a few areas that still look like they are under construction, so parts of the station can feel a little empty or unfinished, but it has never been an issue for me. Overall, I think this is one of the better PATH stations. It is clean, spacious, easy to navigate, and a lot less hectic than some of the others. I would not mind using this station anytime I am in the area.

If you buy a single ride ticket the machine no longer consumes it so you have useless piece of paper with no garbage area nearby. Machines are often out of order at Newport, causing lines for the other ones. Some mid-day trains arrive before the scheduled which is good for you go-getter types but has caused to me to get hit in the arm by closing doors more than is desirable.
