So very convenient as a mode of transportation. The train conductors were nice as they were going around checking tickets - and this made a big difference. Dealing with folks who are pleasant certainly makes a world of difference. We enjoyed the train ride to and from downtown NY. Note, there were more people on the train as we headed back around 4:00, but still enough seats for everyone to sit. Note, be sure to have your ticket available to be checked once the train moves!

The station is a bit confusing when you arrive, but there is a central location with some bathrooms, a Dunkin', and some seating. The inside waiting area is small and the benches are pretty uncomfortable, clearly by design. They're basically wire frame with zero padding. Even a short sit is not comfortable. Seems like a bit of a missed opportunity - it could be - and should be- designed to be much more commuter friendly. Upside? It's right near town, many can walk to it and there's ample parking for both cars and bikes.

Both sides of the tracks have ticket machines which is great because I cannot stand when I have to haul a$$ and make it over to the other side when im rushing with only minutes to spare before the train comes. If…read moreyou are out of town and/or don't ride the train very often it isn't exceptionally obvious what you should be doing. Thankfully there were some really nice people that were willing to help out a little and show me the ropes, from parking to getting the tickets. The help they provided was 5+ stars. Parking: Kind of a problem, everything is parking permit only. I was told that after 5:00 they rarely check for permits and 'you should' be ok. Worst case you get a parking ticket, not towed. I really didn't have time to stress about it, so I went with it. Thankfully they were right and I didn't get a ticket. When you are here you have to cross to the other side of the track to purchase your ticket. The train was really close to running on time and only had to wait a couple minutes. 40 - 45 minutes ride to get in to Grand Central including all the stops along the way for pick ups and drop offs. Last train back runs pretty late out of the city. The one I caught was at 11:30, but they had at least two more trains after mine with the latest somewhere between 12:30 and 1:00 am. Overall price and experience isn't bad. Primarily, I wish that they had parking that wasn't permit only. They may have, I just wasn't able to find it.

This train stop is definitely one of the cleaner ones. Not a lot of people so it's less hustle than…read moremost stations. They have a heat room on each of the tracks as well as in the main station. It's also attached to a cafe so in the morning you can get a bite to eat and still make the train. There's a ticket matching on the platform but only in the grand central side. If you're going up north you'd have to go upstairs for a ticket.

Compared to some other stations I thought this one was great , there is an indoor waiting room , you buy your tickets from a live real person LOL and also has beverages and a food cart outside . I tracked it down to this station and when I asked them behind the window in the station customer service booth he told me all lost and found items are brought to penn station. When I explained to him that my keys were here he was extremely rude and told me it wasn't. So I rang the tile key and it played and he still didn't let me have my key. LITERALLY SO FRUSTRATING. I'm still fuming. Never come here if you need to talk to someone! USELESS. now I have to wait till my stuff comes to penn station. And take a trip down there.
