As much as how hard it is having to put your beloved pet down, I cannot say how grateful and full of appreciation that a service and company like Lap of Love exists. My sweet Kodah's time was coming to a close here on this earth. He was blind and deaf towards the end of his road and the last thing I wanted to do was to bring him to a vet where he could smell he was in an unfamiliar and uncomfortable place. Dogs know when they're at the vet. Dr. Ashley called and provided a 15 minute out. We said many goodbyes and shed a lot Of hard tears within these last 15 minutes and more when the time was ready. She arrived and was so gentle and soft spoken. Comforting my mom and I during such a heartbreak. Pets are family and we were so lucky to have our sweet pup for 15 and a half years. I rescued him when he was 3months and he ALWAYS had a smile. Dr. Ashley answered our questions, Let us talk about Kodah's life, and explained very gently on what she would be doing and the next steps of administering final breaths. It was comforting to know he was with us and not in a cold unfamiliar place. Well, they represented themselves as Pet hospice which means helping with a terminally ill family member which a pet is a pet is a family member, and it does not only mean euthanasia because some people don't believe in euthanasia or some people only see euthanasia as a last resort. If you want to care for your sick pet at home, they represent that they assign a Doctor Who comes to your home to evaluate your pet and that that doctor will manage your pets care throughout their end of life experience. They do offer at home euthanasia if you choose to do that, but it was my understanding that it's just an option and that the doctor would be available to continue to follow up with a phone call maybe once a week or email to check up on your Pet. The doctor did call in prescriptions to the online pharmacy based on the first initial visit, but I did not hear from the doctor again by phone or email even once every few days or once a week when I try To text her mobile number which she said I could I got a failure to send notice back so it did not go through. I did not hear directly from the doctor again throughout my three week experience. During the first week or two, the hospice nurses the nurses were very responsive when I would email them they would answer back within maybe five or six hours and seem very caring, but it appeared to me that when I did not schedule my Pet for their at home euthanasia service they started to become kind of distant towards me and did not seem as interested in finding out how my Pet was doing and if I reached out to them, they seem like they really were not interested. My Pet ended up getting much worse suddenly from one day to the next about three weeks after I signed up and I ended up having to put her to sleep at my primary veterinary office because there was nothing more they could do for her and she was going to suffer at that point if I took her home. When I tried to communicate that she was in the hospital I got a very brief cold email back from the nurses and when I communicated to the doctor by email that my dog had passed away and exactly what she had been hospitalized for the doctor wrote back a very corporate cold email and did not even mention the medical facts or issues that I had told her about in my email regarding why my poor precious doggy was hospitalized on her last day of life and why I had to let her go. She just said to me moving forward here's a phone number and an email and some links you can contact for grief support groups. She did not mention the medical issues that my dog was hospitalized for or had to put put to sleep for it was a very distant business like Email at the beginning when they want to set you up for their home visit, which is more than $600. They act like they're so concerned and say it would be an honor for them to go through your pets end of life care but then suddenly they become less interested it seems when you are not going to have the at home euthanasia done by them, which is about $1000. I'm sorry, but that was the experience I had and they let me down and we're not there for me at the end when my dog suddenly took a turn for the worst from one day to the next and ended up having to be put down, and I am all alone in my heartbreak and grief they are nowhere to be found. read more

Your website makes it sound like you are very conscious of the emotional distress people are in when their beloved companion needs assistance, are available and quick to respond. We never heard back. I will never use Lap of Love again. Our experience with Dr. Jordan Taheri was traumatic and heartbreaking. I trusted Lap of Love to provide a peaceful and compassionate end-of-life experience for my beloved dog, but what happened was anything but. Dr. Jordan administered a cold sedative to my dog's hind leg in her muscle (I didn't know at the time that injecting them cold causes sharp pain, especially with intramuscular injections). My dog was screaming repeatedly after this injection. Dr. Jordan could have warmed the sedative to room temp before administering to minimize pain but he told me he "likes to keep it cold." After the injection, my dog began struggling to breathe. I voiced my concern, but he dismissed it as "normal" and did nothing to assist, leaving me to try and reposition her head myself in desperation. Things only got worse. Dr. Jordan applied the tourniquet so tightly that, even under sedation, my dog screamed in pain. Dr. Jordan had to administer another sedative before proceeding with the euthanasia medication. This was not the peaceful goodbye I wanted for her. It was traumatic--for both of us. My regular vet would have charged $150 for euthanasia, but I wanted my dog to be at home in comfort so I paid what Lap of Love charged ($595). I will never make that mistake again. From now on, I will only trust vets I know personally. Lap of Love needs to seriously reconsider how they train and evaluate the vets they send into people's homes. Brady was a good boy. Brady was 13. Brady got diagnosed in early 2020 with lymphoma and the vet said he'd likely make it 6 months even with treatment. It was at that time we started looking for at home euthanasia. And this dude kicked it another almost 2 years! Maybe this is therapeutic or maybe it helps someone else make the decision. I woke up and saw Brady in a strange place in the house. His breathing seemed labored so I called my wife as I got to work and asked that she check on him. She told me then that it was time. She called Lap of Love and with zero notice they so wonderfully sent out Dr. Jordan (I believe). Wife called me at work and said he'll be there between 11-12. So left at 10 but doc showed up at 10:45. I asked to please wait for me and he did, patiently. When I got in to hug up B-Rad, the doc gave me time to spend with him. Once I was ready, he explained to us both the process. Brady I could tell, was ready. Doc was so gentle with him, so caring. I helped him move Brady, once sedated, to a better spot that he could work on him. He then explained his next procedure. He was patient as we bawled and hugged our little man. Very disgraceful experience. I called Lap Of Love Veterinary Hospice and in home Euthanasia in Broward County due to my beloved dog having old age complications. We had thought about putting him to sleep several times, but didn't due to having days where he appeared to be functioning normally. Months go by and we can tell he is not feeling well and many vet visits and tests later confirm there is nothing we can do for our buddy but be merciful and not allow him to suffer. After going to multiple vets and confirming there was nothing we could do to help him we decided that the time was coming and no surgery or treatment would fix our friend and the only think we could do was take solace in the fact that he lived a long, happy and loved life. We said our goodbyes to our friend of 18 years and with tears called and made an appointment for him to be put to sleep in his favorite spot so his spirit could rest easy. So the morning comes and Dr. Jordan Taheri comes over. Everything seemed friendly given the excruciating circumstances. So when he got the injection out we knew we only had precious short time with a dog who had been our loyal and faithful friend and family member for 18 years. We went through the scenario a thousand times in our heads, but still, we couldn't help but go to tears as we held our baby that had been our friend and family through the years, though we attempted to remain calm. My wife was very emotional. So I ask Dr. Taheri for a couple more minutes to say goodbye one last time, to gather our composure and hug our buddy and kiss him and let him know how much he means to us before he left this world. To my shock Dr. Jordan told us (In an annoyed voice) that he has other appointments to get to and that we either want to do it or not, but he has to get going . He even threatened to leave stating that maybe we should do this another time (Not exaggerating, this is what he said). I wasn't going to rush the process for anything because our buddy of 18 years deserved a dignified last minutes with us and for us to say goodbye and let him know we loved him. Under normal circumstances I would have been angry at that moment, but given the situation I just was focused on our buddy leaving this world. I knew if he left we may not be able to get another appointment and our buddy would suffer needlessly. Truly disgraceful. I am not trying to dissuade anyone from putting their pet to sleep if the pet is needlessly suffering, it's a hard decision and requires a lot of deep consideration. I am just sharing my experience so others can know what to look out for. I would just say don't let anyone rush you or minimize your pets passing because to you your pet is likely family and deserves 100% respect and love in their last moments. We all knew those cats were my Aunts's everything and that losing them all at one time would be disastrous. We could ration putting down the terminal cat but not the others. Does this seem like a normal euthanasia request? Lap of Love should have put down the terminal cat and refused to kill the healthy ones...but NO! For 300. per kill... this tech systematically put down one cat after the next while my Aunt held each one.... dying a bit herself along with each one. The bodies of everything my Aunt loved were then placed in a bag and hauled off along with a 900 check. That morning my Aunt was admitted into a psychiatric facility on suicide watch. She was eventually allowed home but the idea of living in the apartment where her "babies" were killed haunts her day in and day out. She can no longer bear living in the home she's had for 25 years. The grief of what has transpired has led her to give up all hope. Can Lap of Love take full credit for this sad scenario, of course not. But they should have had the aptitude to read the situation for what it was and act according, not greedily. Now 6 months later - once again she's back in a mental facility for severe depression and anxiety. It's all terribly sad. It took me almost a month to have the energy to write of review of Dr. Alecia Agner, but she was wonderful. She helped our 13 year old girl, Bailey, pass over the rainbow bridge, in the most compassionate way. She sat with us and took as much time as we needed, wanting to learn and know all about our girl. Lap of Love helped my husband and I put our beautiful pitbull to sleep yesterday. The compassion that we received and the gentleness of everyone helps us through one of the most difficult times of our lives. Our girl Nola was 16 1/2 years old. We rescued her in the aftermath of hurricane Katrina as she spent five weeks in the streets searching for food and her family. She had a very tough time and we brought her to Florida to join our pack. She was depressed at first but then was able to find joy in her new life. She rescued us as well with her beautiful gentle spirit and unconditional love. She was everything to us. More like a daughter.
