From the moment we walked into Southeast Veterinary Neurology, we knew we were in the right place. Amanda met us upon arrival and quickly took Bella to the back so she could be more comfortable. We truly believed Bella would need to be put down because she had no control over her legs. However, the resident neurologist, Dr. Lam, immediately reassured us that this was not the case. I cannot express enough gratitude for the knowledge, patience, and kindness Dr. Lam showed us. She truly went above and beyond for Bella on New Year's Day. Dr. Lam spent an incredible amount of time carefully explaining what they believed was causing Bella's condition, walking us through all of our options, and answering every question with compassion and clarity. After discussing everything, we decided to move forward with an MRI, which confirmed Bella had FCEM. We were able to pick Bella up late on New Year's Day, and once again, the team took the time to explain the next steps and how to care for her at home to give her the best possible outcome. Despite Bella suffering from a serious neurological condition, they were very optimistic that she would make a 90% recovery. Even though it was late in the evening, we never felt rushed. Dr. Lam and Heather patiently answered every question and concern we had. We are truly grateful for the care, love, and support they gave to Bella, our 5-year-old boxer. This place quoted $5500-$7000 for an MRI of my dog. AN MRI!!! Greed knows no boundaries. The receptionist asked if I had pet insurance or I could apply for a loan. Their excuse was the dog had to be under anesthesia and may need to stay overnight. Also cited reading of the MRI. My dog had cancer surgery which included pre and post OP visits, anesthesia, the actual surgery where the Dr and all the assistants were there for over an hour, a night's stay and medication. It cost $2100. He had another surgery on his eye. Same scenario with the anesthesia, the Dr and assistants, pre and post OP visits, a full day's stay and medication. $2300. Their ridiculous price forces a pet owner to either take out a loan they can't afford or put down their cherished loved one. I had to put down my dog without ever knowing what happened to him or if he could have been saved. I posted this review on another site and they replied with a pathetic, fake sympathy statement followed by a long list of excuses why they are special and worth THREE TIMES more than a doctor that performed actual life saving surgery on my dog. I replied with this: IT'S AN MRI NOT CANCER SURGERY. You think the other doctors that did actual surgery on my dog don't have the same things and costs associated with their field of study? You want to have sympathy? Stop catering to the rich and taking advantage of the poor. Charge a reasonable fee for a damn MRI. An MRI for a human with the same equipment is a few hundred dollars. You have ZERO justification of that amount for an MRI other that pure greed. Then they deleted their reply. This place is disgusting. read more

I have been taking my little Chihuahua to Southeast Veterinary Neurology in Boynton Beach for the past two years. Because veterinary neurologists are scarce in my area, I traveled 3 hours one way and 3 hours back to see Dr. Reese, who had good reviews and I felt my little girl deserved a good doctor. Fortunately, we developed a good patient/doctor relationship otherwise I would not have continued to take her there. It wasn't long before I noticed that this veterinary clinic was driven by money. Everything is extremely expensive there and they know people would pay the price for their little furry family members out of love and desperation. When they decided to make changes to how they did things, like not calling in medicine to Chewy because they wanted patients to use their pharmacy, a few times they denied refilling my little girl's meds and Dr. Reese had to intervene to get her meds refilled at Chewy to make it more affordable for us, and then recently when I had to make a few emergency calls to their facility due to my little girl's cluster seizures where she was having 5-6 seizures back to back nightly, I would not hear back from them on a timely basis or not at all. Once I got one emergency return call the following day just to tell me they would have to pass on my request to my vet when he returned on Monday because it was the weekend. I ended up having to take my little one three times to the emergency clinic in my area during her last days. On several occasions, I dealt with rude staff who answered the phones when I had placed these emergency calls. I would have to ask them to change their tone when they spoke to me and instead of apologizing, they would angrily shoot back that they had no tone with me. Their lack of empathy is beyond me. My little girl's health declined so much in just a few weeks that I had to make the heart-wrenching decision to euthanize her to end her suffering and I requested that Dr. Reese examine her one last time before making that decision. I drove for 3 hours with a sick pup to see Dr. Reese there and I left that facility sobbing with unimaginable grief and pain at having to put her down. I was not surprised when Southeast Veterinary Neurology failed to follow up with a call or send a condolence card. The ER room where I had taken her sent me a condolence card. Her regular vet sent me one, but no call or card was ever received from Southeast Veterinary Neurology. You would think since they euthanized my pup, they would follow up with a courtesy sympathy card or call. A week went by and I drove 3 hours again to their facility to pick up my little girl's ashes. The clerks at the front desk placed the bag on the counter and not a word was said to me. They went about their business and ignored me. I drove back home with my little girl's ashes for 3 hours in tears. I don't care about a $3 card but a little gesture of sympathy, even if it's fake, would be the right thing to do when they euthanize one of their patients. They don't care about your pet. The people who run this place have cold stones for a heart and are driven by money. The only thing holding that facility open is the very few good doctors they have. read more

I would recommend SEVN to anyone looking for neurological care for their fur baby. Our four year old Max recently started having seizures and it has not been an easy ride. Luckily SEVN was able to get us in earlier then our scheduled appointment on an emergency basis. The staff was very helpful, actually listened, took the time to thoroughly go over all information / any questions we had, & the office is very nice and clean. Unfortunately, some imaging services are just way to expensive there for the our family to afford and we couldn't do an MRI for our Max but I know they are only recommending this imaging to rule out possibilities that are causing his seizures. We decided to start seizure medication and again the staff has helped us every step of that way with answering all of our questions and navigating us on what the road looks like ahead with a dog who has seizures. My dog Grady all of a sudden wouldn't eat, wouldn't walk, was peeing on himself...it was horrible. We took him to Banfield on Linton. They sent us to Dr. Reese. Dr. Reese thought that maybe Grady had a brain tumor, but since he was almost 17 years old, he didn't want to put him under anesthesia. We were all thinking the worst, he was old and this may be the end. I was depressed all week. Dr. Reese put Grady on prednisone. He started eating again! Little by little, he was getting better! So, little by little Dr. Reese started weaning him off the pills. After two months, Grady had fully recovered. I was so grateful that Dr. Reese had not given up on Grady. The whole episode made me so depressed. Everyone at the clinic was so empathetic. I thank God for a positive outcome. The only change that I had made to Grady's diet was that I added a breath freshener to his water. I reported what happened to Pet Supermarket as well as to the manufacturer. My pet's caregiver Vilma and I saw Dr. Michael Reese and Dr. Ashley Potts a little over a week ago. All I can say is that Dr. Reese, Dr. Potts and their entire staff are just incredible. Our 15 year old Pekingese Peluca was thought to have and was being treated by our local veterinarian for what looked like a seizure disorder, affecting Peluca more and more over the last few months to a point of having this seizure at least once a day. The medical staff was so professional in taking all of the vitals of our little dog and as much history as possible beyond our dog's medical records that was already sent. When Dr. Reese and Dr. Potts entered the room they took a lot of time watching Peluca walk around the room, and then actually getting down on the floor to do a lot of examinations to check on Peluca's awareness of her limbs and many other physical tests. At the end of the examination Dr. Reese was confident that Peluca was not having seizures but vertigo attacks and changed the medicines she was already on. Over the last week I have been daily either calling or emailing Dr. Potts, that has also be updating Dr. Reese about Peluca's condition. I am so happy with Dr. Potts responding so quickly to emails and being available by phone, I am absolutely blown away. I can tell how Dr. Reese and Dr. Potts and their staff absolutely love and care for our little Pekingese. Both Dr. Reese and Dr. Potts went to an amazing effort to help us get an online pharmacy to compound the medicine Peluca is on that saved a lot money in medicine cost. This was a very tough to find medicine that only one local pharmacy could get and at a much greater expense. I am humbled and feel so blessed by how Dr. Potts and Dr. Reese has responded in helping Peluca. I want to report the good news that since Peluca has been on the two medicines Dr. Reese prescribed, that in the last four days Peluca has had no vertigo attacks. In the last three days she has started to return to her old self in barking for some attention or when she is hungry, something she hasn't done for over a half a year. In the last two days, Peluca is much more stable on her feet and is able to bunny hop a few times on the grass to run a little when outside. Peluca has shown an incredible amount of improvement in the last few days in starting to return to the happy doggy she was before the vertigo attacks became so frequent. I thank Dr. Reese, Dr. Potts and their entire staff for helping this 15 year old Pekingese we love to begin her amazing return to being a happier dog and showing the personality traits we had thought she would not regain again. He was our last try before leaving the state to get our pup care. He's medically amazing, caring, patient and actually listens to us, his parents. Benjamin is a challenging case and Dr. Reese calls regularly to check in and adjust medicine. This saves Benjamin the stress of a monthly neurologist visit (what we had to do in the past every time we had a side effect or needed a medicine changed). The fact that we can call with an emergency, and if he's in the office get ahold of him personally is a life saver in our case. Rather than tell us to bring him in for every episode, he will help us medicate through these episodes and keep our boy as calm as possible at home. Dr. Reese was fantastic with our French Bulldog, Miles this past winter. He was diagnosed with IVDD after a disc ruptured in his spine and went paralyzed. We went to 3 veterinarians who all told us Miles wouldn't survive the next 24 hours. We could not accept this (he was 2 yrs old) and was referred to Dr. Reese. I finally decided to just go for the consult with Dr Michael Reese. Well the consult which was so $$ reasonable included a whole team of Drs that got on the floor to give Lulu a complete evaluation. I was so pleasantly surprised how dr Reese was so candid and heartfelt Told us no MRI was necessary and made some very helpful suggestions The whole office staff were as lovely as could be and I give the whole experience that I was dreading 5Stars !! I cannot speak more highly of Dr Reese and his wonderful staff. My schnauzer, Bode has had a bad back for some time. When we lived in CO he had one back surgery. The neurologist at the time identified another section of his back where the disc was bulging but indicated it was too risky to perform surgery. When we moved to FL his back legs did not function. Dr Reese immediately identified two problems with his back. He performed surgery on Bode that day for the one area that was the problem. He recovered completely. Four months later Bode's legs were bad again and Dr. Reese identified it as the other area of Bode's spine that was in CO. Dr. Reese performed another very difficult surgery on Bode's back. Bode now has the use of his back legs and enjoys his life. Dr. Reese's skill is the best. He performed a surgery that the Neurologist (in a teaching hospital) would not touch. The after surgery care during his stay there was fantastic. I got a call every morning and evening to let me know how his recovery is going.
