    Linus

I had to face the terrible decision of letting go of my sweet cat, Linus. He was 20 years old and his kidneys were failing. It was time. But I couldn't take him to a vet, that would be so stressful and awful for Linus. Everyone with Lap of Love, from the staff over the phone to Dr Kelsi Hodges, were so compassionate and caring. Dr Kelsi came to my home and was so gentle with Linus and with me. If you find yourself in this situation you will not be sorry having them help your baby over the rainbow bridge.

Dr. Kelly Harrell came to our home to help us through the very hard decision to let our fur baby go. She was very patient and kind. Our pet who is usually afraid of strangers took to her very quickly. She talked us through the process and asked if we had any questions the whole time. She helped my fur baby feel comfortable and safe. When it was done she took a paw print and hair clipping for us to have. If you are thinking through the tough decision of having to put your fur baby down I'd recommend using Lap of Love Vet Hospice.

Dr Kelly took one last photo (at my request) of me with my babies (14yr 8 mths and Daisy-16yrs)

I can't tell you how awesome everyone was from when I called in to the day I had to put my sweet fluffy baby to sleep. When I initially called in (1.5 months before the actual service) I was conflicted about whether it was time or not. The gentle and empathetic lady on the phone listened to me cry about this hard decision, informed me about the quality of life assessment, and was so compassionate and understanding. She was so gentle in asking all the questions and also gave me information to help me make the best decision. THIS IS THE HARDEST HEART-BREAKING DECISION I'VE EVER HAD TO MAKE. This was my sweet angel who had been by my side, with her sister (different breed), for 14yrs 8mths. When you've been single without kids or a companion for 12 years of that time these sweet unconditionally loving creatures are literally your kids, and frankly better than kids because they are consistent in their moods and love you unconditionally, unlike teenagers. Anyway, I had made my first call in early November for a mid-November service and then I called to cancel after speaking with my vet and my dog's ophthalmologist (my dog went blind 2 years prior) and had taken the quality of life assessment (she scored a 6/20, meaning questionable). As the next month progressed there were more and more signs that it was time. I called up Laps of Love and because I had discussed the arrangements (giving her chocolate before the first shot, taking her paw print after the first shot, and then cutting her incredibly soft fur after she left us) it was easier for me to know that we had a plan I knew would be good for her and me. They were wonderful when I called the second time. Again, so kind, so patient, and so empathetic. The second time when I called it was time, and scheduled it 1.5 day from the call. I had two really good days with Chloe Bug, but it was so hard to say goodbye. Dr. Kelly came into our home, listening to me share some positive memories of Chloe, and never once rushed us. She petted our other dog and took time to inform us of the two shots (1st-general anesthesia, and 2nd shot to essentially overdose the brain with anesthetics so her brain would shut down first and then stop sending signals to her organs, instead of what I thought stopping her heart), which made me know that she would go into a deep sleep and feel no pain, but a euphoric sense. Dr Kelly provided recommendations about when to engage our other dog...and what Dr Kelly would do after the second shot was given. Again, we never felt rushed and Dr Kelly brought in a lovely basket with a blanket and pillow, which my little bug loved snuggling into. I was able to place my sweet girl in the basket, exactly how I knew she would sleep.... and I was fine with the option to bring my sweet girl in her basket to the car. As I did this, I was so blessed to see what Dr. Kelly did in the trunk and back seat of her car.....it was literally a resting place for my baby with flowers and a sign. It really was beautiful.....she died peacefully in arms surrounded by love and was taken away with dignity. This service is AMAZING. It gives me comfort knowing I gave my sweet girl the very best and most peaceful way to leave this Earth. When I laid her basket on the car I knew my sweet baby was in good care. Afterward, Dr. Kelly sent me a heartfelt email and links to a free group support service. What? Yes, I thought they would only do support groups when human loved ones pass, but they do that for dogs too. It's only been a week since Chloe Bug passed, and a hard week for me, but I do plan to join a support group, and I find it healing to talk about all the amazing laughs and love Chloe Bug gave me. I can't thank Dr. Kelly and everyone at Laps of Love for providing this service. Thank you, God, for their compassionate hearts and for them doing this. It does give me a sense of peace in my deep grief. I highly recommend doing this. There is so much love and compassion surrounding them when they pass. After all these sweet, amazing angels give us, it's the least I could do and worth every penny. For a private cremation and coming to my home and the unexpected extras it was ~$800, which is less than a senior dog teeth cleaning. Don't we owe these unconditionally loving creatures a beautiful way to leave this earth? Thank you again Laps of Love staff for what you do. I'm eternally grateful to each of you, even though this is hard! If I'm able, when it's time for my 16-year-old Maltipoo to go, I will have the same service done. Bless you.

Today I am not okay but I will be... Today my heart hurts all over again. Princess my moms dog is now flying high it was time for her to leave us and go be with my mom. My mom passed away from Covid-19 and my father is still fighting in hospital. So this decision was so hard for me. I can't thank Lap of Love Veterinary Hospice service enough. I am so grateful for them you have no idea if you are ever in this position it's the best thing you can do for your pet when they pass. The love and gift they gave us was unimaginable they are so kind and so loving in this time of need. Dr. Lauren came in and took care of our beloved girl we are so grateful she passed peacefully in home. She is an angel and I adore her and so blessed she was apart of this I couldn't have done it without Dr. Lauren's guidance today. I am so at peace but heartbroken at same time but I knew it was time. We will miss her so much we are down to 1 senior pup out of a pack of 4. We have had them all since they were puppies thanks for 16 amazing years Princess we love you.

I thought I'd have a few more days with my baby boy (even though he was 15) but when it became apparent that we needed to cancel his oncology appointment and instead end his suffering as soon as possible, we were so grateful that Dr. Kimmie was able to come to our home within hours of that impossible decision. We didn't have to put him through the pain of another ride to the vet and he got to stay in his home with his doggy brother and human family cuddling with him and feeding him steak as he happily drifted off, pain free for the first time in weeks. Dr. Kimmie felt like a close friend in addition to a caring and competent professional. I can't express my thanks for the compassion and support shown to us on the hardest day of my life. The amount of heart and strength that's required to perform this job is a bittersweet gift they shoulder for us all that is unworthy of words. But this is Yelp so I did the best I could. Thank you, thank you, thank you!

It was so hard for us to determine if we were making the right decision to put our boy to sleep, but our vet gave us so much peace and confirmed we were making the right decision. I am so grateful for how caring our vet was. She told us this was her passion to help people through these hard moments. She arrived on time and was so kind. I will definitely be using this service again in the future, even though it is not a service I look forward to. Thank you lap of love, worth every penny.

I found out that my dog, Ginger, had an aggressive form of cancer, and nothing could be done to fight it. Ginger despised the vet and taking her to the one place she hated more than anything as her last memory would not work. I felt that in-home euthanasia was the only choice. I made the appointment with Lap of Love, and the care specialist was so nice and understanding. Dr. Liz called before the appt and asked if I had any questions, she walked me through the process and how it would work. I can not say enough good things about Dr. Liz, and her helping Ginger to cross the rainbow bridge. She let me have as much time as I needed to say goodbye to my sweet Ginger. I never once felt rushed or like I was on her time. Once Ginger passed she gave us a moment to say our final goodbye, and brought in a little basket to place Ginger in. Saying goodbye to a beloved pet is one of the hardest things to do, but Lap of Love and Dr. Liz made the process less painful and heartbreaking. I highly recommend Dr. Liz and Lap of Love for putting your pet to peace and to cross the rainbow bridge. This service is worth every penny!!

Saying goodbye to my beloved dog of 11 years was something I had never experienced before, and I was completely unprepared for the emotional weight of it all. From my very first phone call, I was met with genuine kindness, patience, and sincerity. Every question I had was answered with such care and understanding--it truly felt like they were walking alongside me during this difficult time. When the doctor came to our home, their presence was calm, respectful, and incredibly compassionate. They treated my dog with such dignity and love, and they gave me the space and support I needed to say goodbye in peace. It meant more to me than I can ever express. Even afterward, the level of care continued. Picking up my dog's remains was handled with such grace and respect--it was clear that every step of the process was done with heartfelt intention and compassion. In a moment filled with so much pain, this team was a blessing. I truly believe God places people in our lives when we need them most, and they were exactly that for me. Their sincerity, kindness, and unwavering support brought comfort to my heart in a time of deep sorrow. I wholeheartedly recommend them to anyone facing the incredibly difficult decision of saying goodbye to a beloved pet. They go above and beyond in every way, and I will forever be grateful for the love and care they showed to both me and my dog.

He let them put the sedative in, then within seconds he shivered and tried to run back inside the house. He dropped to the ground with a look of terror, then tried to run back inside again and dropped down. He was "drunk" on "kitty ketamine" as she put it. I understand that every cat reacts differently, but after speaking to other vets, it wasn't supposed to be like that at all. This month we had to say goodbye to another one of our cats, and we used a different company with remarkable results.

I didn't have my head straight when we discovered baby girl had passed and chose the first place for cremation on Google, which was a certain animal hospital that when we got there said we would get her back in a month. After a few days my husband and I decided that that was too long and we found eternal waters online, watched the video of the process and liked that it was more environmentally friendly than traditional cremation. And the fact that my baby girl loved swimming in lakes and beaches seemed like this was meant to be. Thank goodness they offer pickup from the other clinic we had her at. That would've been tough for us to do. Lilia was super sweet and understanding even with my weird request of sending me a photo of Lucy to make sure the right dog was picked up. But thank goodness she suggested me sending her a photo of Lucy so she can confirm during the pickup. That made it a lot less painful. She texted me immediately on pick up that it was 100% my baby girl. Told it would take about a week but it ended up being 2 weeks. It was worth it with all of the extra things we got to keep in her memory. I had asked for an impression of her front 2 paws, one of her feet became deformed as she got older, a single paw print, a nose print, and her different colors of fur in a jar which I was really impressed she got all of the colors because I had just groomed my baby before she passed and her fur was short. I will take my future babies and recommend them to people in the future. She was so kind and understanding during one of our hardest losses. Thank you!
