The hosts were very loving and accommodating; my wife and I have dietary allergens, and they went out of their way to fit our allergens. The breakfast was also exquisite, with a homemade full English breakfast, homemade honey, and vegetarian/vegan friendly options. Definitely a must-visit if you are visiting the Cambridge area, or if you simply want a night of relaxation!

As all the B&B was full Duncan offered us one of the apartments. At the end was even better because we could have eaten at home, and going out for drinking.. The apartment was totally amazing: super clean, super modern, very well full furnished with latest distinctive fine design furniture. I appreciated the black marble kitchen top, and the table lamps in the bedroom. Duncan and Emma let us find fresh milk and orange juice in fridge, and some other goods for breakfast, rice, pasta ,etc (I have to admit, I brought my italian coffee and coffee machine from London). Emma has been so nice with us, giving us a map and showing us the way to reach the centre, best things to do, etc. The place is around 15 mins on foot far from the centre, but if you're lazy there is a bus. 5 mins far from the house there are a couple of pub on the river, we've been there on friday evening and there was live rock music with good wine and beer. The price is not very cheap but reasonable for a such well kept apartment and the kindness of the owners. There's also a grocery next to the house open 7am-11pm every day, very useful. Defenitely a place I recommend and where I'll be back if we'll go to Cambridge again. Its a nice walk, and you may cross the River Cam, enjoy the park an be in the middle of the town. On your way you can have some breakfast in a pub, wich opens at 8 oclock. Traditional English breakfast (2,99 Pounds) or Sandwiches for less. The Kirkwood House ist not stylish at all. The Rooms are small, but en suite and very clean. The prices are appropiate. So three stars are appropiate too. I did not regret my choice of the Kirkwood House.

I guess it's a case of you get what you pay for: Cambridge isn't cheap and it was about £50 for the room on a bank holiday weekend, and it's only a mile from the City centre. So, if you set your expectations, it's perfectly fine for a one night stay. Quick warning before you book: not all rooms have their own bathroom, so make sure yours does.

Breakfast buffet was nice, I liked the choice of scrambled eggs or sunny-side up eggs and there were many options available. I did feel the bagel options were a little stale, and the crumpet I had instead was about the same. Using the hotel's valet parking made things easier for us, very quick to get the car whenever we needed it. We also came back later after we had already checked out and they let us into the gym area to change our clothes in the shower area. Much appreciated!

The bed was a queen (not 2 twins pushed together). Very comfortable. There was a nice desk area with a large mirror for comfortable makeup application for my wife. Bathroom: Sizeable, nice shower. Parking: There is a small place that fits 3 cars in a single lane off the road for unloading bags. Parking is valet only. There is a lot of foot & vehicle traffic in this area, making it difficult to back out. Service: Very kind staff that is eager to help, whether you're at the bar, breakfast, check-in, or concierge desk. Breakfast: 7 to 10. Not your standard breakfast... There is so much well-prepared food that it is worth the stop.
