wine shop (2014)
Jessica H.

The Old Bridge Hotel is a grand old house, covered in ivy, meaning you can't miss it. It's also on a busy junction into Huntingdon, so that might also help you find it... The wine shop is fairly new, with a shiny wine 'jukebox' in the middle, meaning you can try their selection of whites and reds before purchasing, either by the bottle or case. There's plenty of choice from around the globe, and some amazing price tags if you want to gasp at how much people will actually pay for their wine! We sat ourselves in the corner of the afternoon tea-type area, bringing the average age down by at least 30 years, and ordered tea for two. It took a long time to arrive, which prompted an apology from the waiter, but it took a while for even that to emerge. No real reason for the delay - only two other tables were occupied, both of which seemed to be experiencing the same delay, and most individuals seemed to be receiving the wrong order. Cakes looked delicious, displayed next to us, but the biscuits served with the tea could have easily knocked out a few teeth (especially considering the average age of their clientele!)

Comfy chairs, lovely tea in China cups and a scone the size of the plate (we shared one between the two of us!) The whole experience was helped along by the lovely, friendly young staff.

I thoroughly enjoyed my stay here! I'm an American and when I travel internationally I typically…read moreexpect customer service to be rubbish because ya Americans are spoiled I guess. This place has AMAZING customer service. The people at the desk were friendly and helpful and had answers for all of my idiotic American questions like, "How do I turn the lights on in my room?" Yes, guys, lights work differently in American hotels. When I flip the switch, lights turn on, I don't need a lesson from Hogwarts to make my lights work. In the hotel, the bar, the restaurant, and the room service all serve the exact same food at the same prices with the exception of maybe one or two items. And it's all pretty good! Like surprisingly good! The one star I've deducted was because there wasn't a mini fridge in my room. There's a mini fridge in EVERY SINGLE American hotel room. When the hotel bar charges me five quid for a beer, the obvious answer is to go to Tesco and get a six pack for five pounds. But wait, where do I keep it cold? Other than the fridge this place is great!

Other things are unsatisfactory that are within their gift but are not done, for instance: - reading the Reservation details! - servicing the air conditioning (no air flow because of clogged inlet filter is an AVOIDABLE problem)

To clarify I have not stayed at Wyboston as a resort or get away. I have always stayed here for business. I didn't use their meeting spaces though. That being said I have never used the golf course, driving range or spa. I have though ate eaten at the restaurant and used the gym facility. Overall the Wyboston is a solid resort/hotel. The rooms are always very clean, the staff is very proper, polite and helpful and the amenities are a bonus. Additionally their prices are very fair and have always been able to accommodate us. I will add one note, the last time I was there I mentioned that I was vegan and asked if they had anything else that I could eat for breakfast other than toast, fruit and potatoes. The and vegan sausages they heated up for me every morning and I was very grateful that they were able to accommodate my diet. I have not eaten at the restaurant in years so I do not recall what options they have but they do like all great places in the UK have a good cold beer selection and plenty of gin. Look forward to my next trip over.
