Definitely upscale, nice for important family events. Seems geared to the 50+ crowd (which is fine by me!) The food is good and if you're staying at the hotel, it's quite convenient. My Royal Eggs Benedict was nothing exciting, but fine. Maybe my expectations were too high. The fried fish sandwich was also good. Coffees were good. No complaints, just nothing that made me think "Wow!". The restaurant just updated their menu for the Fall season - so if you've been here before, maybe take a look again to see what's new. This is our second time staying at the hotel. It's always very clean and the staff is attentive. It can't be easy running a business out of a centuries-old building. I give them credit for keeping the historic feel while maintaining the standards of 21st century hospitality (and plumbing!) Our shower, in particular, was luxurious. Also there's a nice set up of teas, coffee and Nespresso, with milk packets and biscuits (cookies). We overlook the path to the car park outside, there's good natural light along with blackout curtains for when you need to sleep in. If you need a place to sleep several guests/family members, and then host a brunch in the morning, this would be perfect.

It's something like £27 for a four course meal - starting with soup, a 'market table', a choice of main course and a dessert. The market table is obviously the best bit - a lovely spread of seafood, fresh bread, charcuterie, cold cuts, salad etc. It's buffet-style so you can get as much or as little of it as you like - as many times as you like. It's all really good - but my personal favourites are the prawns (SO well cooked), smoked fish and crab pate. The main courses are standard 'british' fare - ranging from roast beef, fish and chips, steak frites, ratatouille and a fish du jour and pie du jour. My personal favourites are the pies (fish pie is amazing, when it's on) and the 'roast du vin'. The frites are also amazing - as is the Bearnaise sauce that comes with the steak. Like literally amazing. If you have room (you probably won't - the market table is pretty exciting ... but I always do) - the desserts are pretty good. I usually go for the profiteroles or tarte tatin - but most recently had he bred and butter pudding which is GREAT. Generally the dessert portions are quite small (which is good, because you'll be stuffed). They also do a cheese board as an alternative to dessert. So in an essence, the food is great. I have absolute no complaints, other than that they might want to think about changing up the mains on the menu a little more frequently. Especially regarding the veggie options - which can be a little boring. The service however leads much to be desired. It's rarely very busy, but service is so slow and they often forget drinks orders completely. There's really no excuse for it during Sunday lunch, as pretty much everything is pre-prepared (soup, market table, desserts are mostly chilled). So this is a shame - because it has the potential to be something special. I don't visit HDV for a la Carte dining for two reasons. 1) I think it's pretty overpriced for a pretty uninspiring menu, and 2) the service as explained above. Friends and family have had similar issues to this during dinner service - again, a shame, because there's so much potential. The building and location is fantastic, I just feel it's badly managed.

The food in general was amazing. Everything was really fresh and good, except the duck special. The duck was very chewy and seemed kind of old. Other than that, we had a great time hanging out in the pub area and having drinks. My only qualm with my room (8) was that the radiator wouldn't get hot enough to heat my room so I got really cold a couple nights.

From our unplanned early check-in to staff working well past midnight to ensure the wedding guests had everything we needed... I was thoroughly impressed with the care and attention we all received. The hotel grounds are beautiful and a picture perfect spot for wedding festivities. The bride tossed her bouquet/groom tossed the garter from the penthouse balcony. There's a beautiful gazebo out back for pictures or just sitting and chatting with a cocktail. There are several statues/public art outside. Lots of parking. Plus, catering and bar tending staff were great. I could go on and on... Thanks, Hotel Felix for a good stay and making my sister's wedding reception so special!

For me it was reasonable. The room was great. Nice big bed and spacious room. Internet connect was ok but pricy. I did not have a car and showed up late so ate in the restaurant on location. You are a good walk or taxi ride away from anything else so if you don't have a car you probably will end up eating at this restaurant. The local office for the company I work for has their Christmas party here and everyone seems to like it. The restaurant on location which is called Graffiti, I thought was good. I also did not get small potions and went with the special of the day which included a salad with prosciutto on it that I really liked. The bar is 5 feet away has a different menu and not that interesting. My second night stay I ordered from this menu and this was a small portion.

For £70 we got what in a hotel would be a cracking suite; in a converted stonebuilt farm building, a large clean bedroom with lofty roof atrium, and equally lofty bathroom with a bath big enough for 2 and large shower... a couple of cobwebs in the rafters only added to the charm. Alex was a charming and kind host, who was equally accomodating of my dog, even asking if I had food for him. Also gave us a decent enough dinner recommendation. Breakfast, with home-reared sausages and bacon (and egg, toast, mushroom, beans, coffee) was top notch - black pudding would have made it perfect (and that's the only fault I can find - it's not enough to drop one star!) Highly recommended - friendly, clean & homely.
