This review is for both the hotel and the restaurant.
The restaurant is a lovely restaurant, it has an appreciation for the history of the building with the comforts of modern day decor. Definitely upscale, nice for important family events. Seems geared to the 50+ crowd (which is fine by me!)
The food is good and if you're staying at the hotel, it's quite convenient.
My Royal Eggs Benedict was nothing exciting, but fine. Maybe my expectations were too high. The fried fish sandwich was also good. Coffees were good. No complaints, just nothing that made me think "Wow!".
The restaurant just updated their menu for the Fall season - so if you've been here before, maybe take a look again to see what's new.
This is our second time staying at the hotel. It's always very clean and the staff is attentive. It can't be easy running a business out of a centuries-old building. I give them credit for keeping the historic feel while maintaining the standards of 21st century hospitality (and plumbing!) Our shower, in particular, was luxurious. Also there's a nice set up of teas, coffee and Nespresso, with milk packets and biscuits (cookies). We overlook the path to the car park outside, there's good natural light along with blackout curtains for when you need to sleep in.
If you need a place to sleep several guests/family members, and then host a brunch in the morning, this would be perfect. read more
