I came to Lanna spa for a 90-minute massage. The conversation was brief to start the massage. At some point, the massage therapist (Benz) was massaging my inner thigh, and then moved to stroke my groin and then genitals, without my consent. I asked her to stop, which she did. This establishment needs to make sure they are communicating and asking for consent before touching people's genitals. Without consent, this type of touch could be considered sexual assault. Nobody should be put in this position while vulnerable on a massage table, and I want others to be aware. I left feeling shame and discomfort, and I won't be coming back. read more

We walked in and didn't wait at all before being shown into the massage room. My husband and I got a couples massage for 90 minutes and it was heaven! They even threw in hot stones complimentary because it was our first time. The combination massage was the perfect mix between deep tissue and some hard core stretching. I've got a facial and extended eyelashes today with Lily. My face looks brighter after the facial and it was so relaxing. I was a bit scared with the eyelashes extension because my skin and my eyes are very sensitive and had a bad experience before. But I trusted her to do it because I know she uses great quality products here. I didn't feel burnt nor uncomfortable at all. And it came out beautiful. I don't even have to put any make up on today after it's done. She said it would last 2-3 weeks which is awesome! Decided to do a couples massage for my fiancées birthday this week. Neither of us had done a real massage before and we were initially trying to feel out most comfortable while doing so. Gigi and Sarah were amazing!!!! we did a full body massage and they were extremely thorough with making sure we were comfortable while doing so and also ask us questions during the massage to make sure we were enjoying it. There were several times on the table where I thought I was going to fall asleep, and my boyfriend commented how much more relaxed he felt. The spa was extremely clean and together right outside of Tysons corner in the Merrifield area and I felt light as a feather afterwards. I plan to rebook another session within two weeks or so. After our massage, we were asked if we wanted some water or hot tea and it was ready for us after we got dressed. It took me 5 whole days from the time I called them (Monday night) to the time I got confirmation (via email only) for an appointment on Saturday. On Monday night, I called for availability on Tuesday. The lady I spoke with said their systems were down, took down my contact info and said would call me right back the next day. I didn't hear back, and must have called around 20x between Tuesday-Thursday, followed up with emails, and left voicemails. I had a Groupon that was going to expire within that week and I only had limited availability. Someone FINALLY emailed me back after 2 whole days of no response, all she said was that they were booked. It wasn't until I complained of the non- response and that I had an expiring Groupon, that they said their place 'leaked water everywhere'... maybe they should mention that in the voicemail or in the first response to my email....? I understand if a business closes due to water leakage & cannot respond to phone calls, but that does not explain the non- responsiveness to emails. When I finally got confirmation of the appointment, they never asked for my Groupon number (which they should have b/c apparently this Group that I had, was already redeemed ) and during the check out process, the lady who seemed like the owner or manager, was like 'well this is why we ask for your groupon number when you make appointment'.. guess what? you never asked for the number over the phone (b/c you never responded) and you never asked for it via email (when I even mentioned I had a groupon expiring). They also never called me back when they opened their doors on that Thursday FYI. Massage itself was only average. The beds don't even have a warmer and I can see a person can get chilly during the winter months. I've gotten many massages in the area and even Thailand, so I've my fair comparison. While the Groupon price was decent, it was DEFINITELY NOT worth the full price they charge for what you get. Apparently, my masseuse gave me part thai massage but never gave my bf one when it was supposed to be a mix. It was 3 stars at best. This was my first visit to Lanna Spa it is was lovely, clean and professional. Me and my boyfriend got Thai combination massages which is a blend of Thai and Swedish. The staffs are very nice. We walked in and received service within minutes. To my surprise the Thai part of the massage had the therapist walking over your body for a deep tissue experience like no other. It had moments of pain when working out the kinks but as instructed I just took deep breathes and let her work. Once that was complete she started with the swedish oil massage and some hot towel action that felt amazing! A head to toe massage for 60 minutes cost $159 per couple and was worth every penny. I went here a few months ago for a deep tissue massage. Lobby was clean and inviting. Owner was warm. I was shown the room for the massage. Her technique was very effective. She gave me a combination of deep tissue and thai. I really enjoyed it because she hit all the sore spots on my back. She has strong hands and her strokes will make your eyes roll backwards almost 360. I will definitely go back again and hopefully she still works there. I forgot her name though. read more

I would love to give more stars just like all the reviewers.. but unfortunately my experience with Lanna massage today is far less from what I expected. I made a last minute appointment, and I should say they are very gracious in handling my booking and even over me the same price as groupon offer on sunday, which they don't normally do. I arrived few minutes late than the schedule time, and I dont expected the treatment to be extended as it is my fault. Lanna Spa is a clean, cute spa with such a warm welcome, however when it come to the treatment here is something that disappoint me: - Neither the consultation form or the therapist upon massage started ask if we have any area need to be focused on or pressure preference - The therapist never checked if the pressure as my liking, wether i need it to be deeper or lighter the whole entire massage time. Or basic question like "if we comfortable or warm enough or if the music volume okay?" Because unfortunately the music was very low and I can clearly hear the therapist shoes/sandals noises moving around(not relaxing at all) plus i can hear the therapist whispering at each other quite often. - I feel like my massage therapist was a little rushing doing my massage.. and it doesnt relax me at all. - The warm towel wipe rather uncomfortable to me because it left a chill feeling since they just covered without patting the sheet to absorb the dampness. My boyfriend bought us a couples massage for Valentine's day at this spa. It was supposed to be relaxing and enjoyable. Instead the masseuse spent 90minutes criticising my body on two occasions she even laughed at my body for being "weird". She talked and yelled at me through the whole thing and basically told me everything that is wrong with my physical appearance. I was extremely embarrassed in front of my boyfriend and the other masseuse and needless to say highly self conscious and upset. I didn't know how to react as this has never happened to me before. The more I thought about it, the more upset I became. I called the following day to express my feelings to the masseuse and manager. The manager was down right rude and said I must have misunderstood. I explained that even if the masseuse hadn't meant any harm, there was still harm done and I had been too ashamed to say anything at the time. The manager refused to rectify the situation blaming a language barrier for my humiliation. I like to believe the masseuse didn't mean anything by the constant comments that my injured shoulder is "different" and "weird", or that my ankle is "weird", or that I have too much muscle, don't stretch right, don't drink enough water, etc. It felt like spending a day with an overbearing nagging mother who thinks anything over 100lbs is "weird". Nevertheless, it's the manager's reaction that incited me to write a review. Making someone feel ashamed and uncomfortable should NOT be okay in any profession or life. My boyfriend and I will never return to their spa nor allow any one we know to use their services. read more
