    Hawaiian coffee

I stopped by Lani coffee on my way to the San Diego convention center for comic con and saw this sweet little coffee shop so I decided to stop. What a cute little spot to grab coffee and pastries or a breakfast sandwich. The service was great. A couple tables were dirty so it was hard to find a place to sit down and enjoy my coffee. Overall, it was a great coffee spot with good strong Hawaiian coffee.

Ugh so sad to be posting this because i love coming here. I will stick to only coming in person. I ordered a lunch sandwich on a bagel on DoorDash. I selected turkey as my protein and selected no cheese. There is no option to add mayo and mustard unless i just selected "light mayo" or i had the option to choose no mayo and mustard. This made me assume it came with it. There was an option to add lettuce tomato and onion, but the menu picture showed it coming on it already. I received a plain bagel with a slab of turkey on it and literally nothing else. It wasn't even sliced turkey it seemed to be the slab of the end of a head of deli turkey and didn't look fresh. And DoorDash prices are always inflated to it was $13.25 for this! I'll stick to going in person for just coffee.

First time at Lani Coffee shop in Downtown San Diego, CA. I tried their Salmon Lox with everything bagel seasoning and was pretty good. Loved the Hawaiian decor they have inside. The service was great and the restaurant was very clean. There's indoor and outdoor seating. I look forward to trying their salmon avocado toast next time. Check it out! Happy Yelping :)

I'm a fan of strong tasting espresso drinks, this place has that and more. They offer heavenly Hawaiian flavors as well as your basic lattes and cappuccinos. Loved this place, would 100% come back when I'm downtown again.

Got takeout from Lani Coffee and tried the açaí bowl -- can't go wrong! Added extra fruit and it was a good portion. I also got the Aloha Mocha, which tasted pretty average, but to be fair I had just gotten back from a Hawaii trip so my bar was set pretty high. Overall, solid grab-and-go spot.

Love the pistachio coconut latte! I've had it twice so far and it's been great each time. Both times i requested it to be made with coconut milk. Morning staff is very polite and welcoming. My coworkers love this spot for coffee and I see why! I also tried the avocado toast but wasn't a big fan. I look forward to trying other items on the menu here!

OMG SOOO GOOD AND AFFORDABLE! Each time I travel to San Diego this is always a must go. I like the various pastries provided, black berry muffin being my favorite, but the danish's are also fantastic. Their coffee refills are such good prices and great Hawaiian coffe like I had in Kauai. I also tried the white chocolate mocha last time I went there and it was great, not too sweet and you could taste the white espresso. The restaurant is always so homey and the paintings are really pretty. The music they play always soothes me and it's a great place to hang out in. Many locals come. Vibes are always good and the service is even better. The owner is always so chill and understanding!

I was serving the civic duty and had a 90 minute lunch. While walking to my lunch destination on 5th, I passed by and thought to drop by on my way back after lunch for my 3rd coffee of the day. It had been a while since I last saw a place serving Lion Coffee, so it definitely caught my attention. Place appears very relaxed and casual. Staff was very friendly. Heads up that although there was a check-in offer for 15% off, they did struggle to enter it in due to there being a new register system (was about to say that it was okay). The iced Lion Thai Latte was sweet and a great dessert coffee to the lunch hour before I returned to the courthouse that was around 10-15 minute walk away (with stoplights).

This is a cute local coffee shop with a limited amount of seating, but with really good authentic Hawaiian coffee. We ordered an iced Kona coffee and an iced caramel macchiato and both were good. To eat we ordered a salmon bagel to share. The bagel was big and it had lots of cream cheese, a lot of raw red onions, a thin layer of salmon and taste of capers. It tasted good, but would've preferred more salmon and less onions and cream cheese. They have a similar setup to Starbucks where you pick your order at the end.

Excited for 100% Kona coffee, it is a distinct flavor. This coffee was awful. Strong and burnt with zero Kona flavor.

We waited about 30 minutes (Sunday afternoon rush), but it gave me plenty of time to explore the menu. I usually stick to a simple order, but with so many base options, I decided to "do it all," and I'm so glad I did. My son loved the pitaya and mango bases (and so did I). The blue coconut and classic açaí were excellent, and the blue chia topping was a fun and tasty surprise. All the fruit was extra fresh, and the granola added the perfect crunch. We absolutely loved everything and will definitely be back soon!

I decided to just park along Gilman Drive, which is free, and walked about 20 minutes. Honestly, it wasn't bad at all -- it was a sunny day and there's plenty of street parking if you're willing to walk a bit. I've always loved Blue Bowl Superfoods in Oceanside. It's SO good and easily one of my favorite açaí spots, I could literally eat it every single day. I love all the customizations they offer, the variety of bases, and just how many ingredients they have. This time, I decided to visit their UCSD location, which is right in the middle of University of California San Diego's campus. They open around 10 AM on Saturdays (and typically around 8 AM on weekdays), and even right at opening there were already a lot of people waiting. My friend and I were still able to get in and out pretty quickly around 10. I ended up getting their mango passion base along with açaí. For toppings, I loaded it up strawberries, bananas, apples, blackberries, blueberries they truly have so many options. I also love their variety of nuts, seeds, and different types of nut butters. They really don't skimp on choices. Overall, I would highly recommend stopping by. I was SO full after, and honestly, you could even split a bowl with a friend because they pack it generously. It's about $12 for a normal medium-sized bowl, which I think is worth it for the portion and quality. The staff were very friendly and welcoming, which I really appreciated. The ambiance is nice it's more of a grab-your-bowl and then sit outside type of vibe, but there is indoor seating as well. Definitely one of my favorite açaí spots, and this location did not disappoint.

Let's start with the good. Flavor? Solid. Peanut butter showed up like a starter, not a bench player. Ingredients were fresh, clean, and legit. Now the audit. The ratios on the large made mixing feel like a CrossFit session. I was excavating toppings only to discover a thick reserve of untouched açaí at the bottom. Structurally ambitious. Practically challenging. Professional recommendation: Order the medium. Better balance. Better blend. Less archaeological digging. The base leaned a little heavy for my personal preference -- not bad, just dense. Some people like that. I prefer flow. Now... the headline. The Staff!! 6/5. I don't hand those out casually. I had walked past Vitality Tap several times since it's conveniently located near my hotel, and on my last day I finally decided to stop in and I'm so glad I did. The space is a cool mix of a vitamin/supplement shop and a health focused drink and café spot. For a Sunday afternoon, it was surprisingly busy, with staff hustling to make drinks and açaí bowls. Despite the crowd, everything looked well-organized, and all the customers seemed genuinely happy with their orders. I ordered "The Dragon," which had pitaya, coconut water, pineapple, and strawberries. It was incredibly refreshing, which was exactly what I needed after hours of walking in the heat. Light, hydrating, and flavorful without being overly sweet. I'll definitely be back next time I'm in the area to try their açaí bowls and juices. Great spot for a post adventure reset.

I placed an order ahead of time and showed up about 25 minutes later thinking it would be ready. When I checked in, a younger employee told me it would be another 10 minutes. Annoying, but okay. The parking situation around here is already a nightmare, so I really wasn't thrilled about having to stand around waiting even longer. Well, those 10 minutes turned into 25. During that time, I watched multiple people walk in, place orders after I had already checked in, and receive their food before me. The crazy part? It wasn't even busy. There was no line out the door, no rush, no obvious reason for such a ridiculous delay. After waiting long enough, I finally went up to an older gentleman working there (I'm assuming the owner) and politely explained that I had been waiting a very long time and was confused why people ordering after me were getting their food first. Instead of apologizing or even acknowledging the mistake, he was rude, dismissive, and acted like I was inconveniencing him for asking about an order that should have been ready ages ago. Then, after another 10 minutes, my bowls were finally ready. In total, I waited about 35 minutes after checking in for pickup. To top it all off, the older gentleman practically shoved the bowls at me without so much as a "sorry for the wait." Look, delays happen. Mistakes happen. What bothered me was the complete lack of communication, accountability, and basic customer service. If you're running behind, just be honest about it. Don't tell someone 10 minutes when it's really going to be over half an hour. The açaí is good, but not nearly good enough to make up for being treated like an annoyance. There are plenty of other places in San Diego serving great bowls without the attitude.
