Tasty Guac (sorry for half eaten bowl)
Mugdha T.

I'm writing the review while in the restaurant it was so good, specially I had heard that mexican food on the east coast was alright. We were seated right away and were greeted with a big welcoming smile by Diana. She took real good care of us. My husband was the one eating here so he ordered the vegan chorizo tacos and the sweet potato tacos (mix 3) with a side of guac and rice and beans. The guac was superrrrr fresh and perfect balanced flavors! The beans were surprisingly flavorful and the tacos were delicious too! Kudos to the chef! The decor is welcoming with plenty seating. Would surely recommend for anyone looking for some vegetarian food for sure!

Lobster tacos Barbacoa taco

We were looking for a break from traditional seafood and this was a great choice. The server recommended Barbacoa tacos. They were great. They have a great kids menu as well that was perfect for my five year old. My husband got a combo of different tacos. There is a $7 up charge for lobster and I was disappointed to see it applied twice which made a combo more expensive than getting all lobster but he said it was worth it. Highly recommend.

We tried Langosta while visiting Bar Harbor after a morning in Acadia. From the outside, it doesn't look like much and you'd probably walk past it if you didn't know what it was. Inside, while a small storefront, is a very nicely decorated restaurant with good vibe. The Pros: The staff was very friendly, quick to seat us and take our drink/food order. The food came out very quickly as well and was delicious for the most part. We started with an appetizer of the trio of dips (salsa, queso and guacamole w/chips), then ordered a chicken quesadilla and a barbacoa burrito bowl. The chicken quesadilla and the burrito bowl had a great flavors. The Cons: The trio of dips was good, less the guacamole. It came out with liquid in the middle of it and had absolutely no flavor to it. That said, the salsa and the queso were very tasty. While overall delicious, the portion sizes and the pricing are not aligned. $51 and change before tip is astronomically high.

Some of the best tacos I've ever had! The lobster one was so good but their beef barbacoa was phenomenal. The perfect amount of spicy. a for sure hidden gem in Bar Harbor. And the server was so nice! Loved the place

Friendly prompt service. Great vegetarian options. My son loved his Barbacoa bowl (beef). Generous serving. My blueberry lemon margarita was refreshing and hit the spot after a long day of hiking in Acadia.

We had a tasty lunch on a weekday. The place was full at one point and people had to wait for a seat. I had the beef kid taco meal. The shredded beef is spicy! My friend had the beef bowl. The chips and salsa were tasty for $6. Service was good. There is metered street parking. The place is clean.

Really good lobster queso. Chips to cheese to lobster ratio was just right. Beef barbacoa was very flavorful with just the right heat profile

Really enjoyed the food. Our toddler devoured the kid's chicken taco! I had the sweet potato and mushroom burrito. Nice service and decor.

Omg there is so much to say about this small Mexican restaurant! We came in around 2 for lunch they were able to fit a party of ten in with only 26 seats. THIS IS THE CUTEST RESTAURANT I HAVE EVER SEEN! The colors are beautiful together and the decorations fit right in! I ordered my food within minutes. And was so impressed by my food! I ordered the chicken quesadilla with a side of sour cream. Hands down the best quesadilla I have ever had in my life! My friends all said the same. The quesadillas were large and filling (especially after a 15 mile bike ride ‍). I don't know if I was just hungry but I would absolutely come back but unfortunately ten hours in a car is not the most fun . This place deserves a 10 stars easily. I am so impressed by this restaurant. I'm blown out of the water. I am so amazed.

Lobster tacos- be sure and ask for the cilantro lime sauce and pour over!
Caroline B.

Seriously impressed with this little taco shop! We had the beef barbacoa, pork carnitas and the lobster tacos and while all three were scrumptious I'll be dreaming about that barbacoa later for sure. Pro tip- get the cilantro lime sauce and pour over your tacos, esp if you're getting the lobster tacos. Our 3 year old got the quesadilla and black beans and ate it up. IMO; the black beans and rice can be improved upon. Hubs got the blueberry lemonade and I got a lime margarita. The margarita was fantastic- none of the syrup-y junk. The blueberry lemonade was perhaps one of the best drinks I've ever had? My eyes rolled back in my head while drinking it so so yourself a favor and grab one of those. We got the chips and queso for a starter and they were also really yummy. For Bar Harbor pricing I thought the prices were really low, especially for the quality of tacos.

Mexican Food in Maine? Absolutely!…read more We found this amazing Mexican spot right in the middle of downtown Bar Harbor, and let me tell you the location couldn't be better! Families were walking by, live music was playing across the street, and people were sitting barefoot on the grass trying to stay grounded. Meanwhile, we were being spiritually guided by the smell of Mexican food coming from Salsa Verde Grill. It pulled us in like a tractor beam! We started with the fresh guacamole, blue corn chips, and their Christmas sauce a combination of red and green sauce. Oh man Christmas came early! That sauce was so good I almost asked for it in a cup with a straw. My wife ordered the steak burrito, and it was so big she couldn't finish it. Imagine that! I ordered the enchiladas topped with a fried egg, refried beans, and rice. Oh boy, I was stuffed but somehow kept eating like I was training for the Mexican Food Olympics. Our daughter ordered the same thing as Dad, but hers was smothered in that delicious holiday sauce. She couldn't finish hers either. My wife and daughter are a couple of wimps! Or maybe I'm just a big-backed roly-poly with no quit in me. The food was flavorful, the portions were generous, and the atmosphere was perfect. We absolutely recommend Salsa Verde Grill when visiting Bar Harbor. Come hungry, wear stretchy pants, and don't blame me when that Christmas sauce has you licking the plate. Bye-bye now!

West Street Cafe easily earns a spot in my top five, alongside: Happy Crab in Eastport And the now-closed Jameson Tavern and Muddy Rudder in Freeport. Scales and Gilbert's in Portland. We also had their steamed mussels, and it was delicious! Perfect amount of garlic and spicy peppers. It comes with focaccia and a side of broth; dip it in, and you're in heaven. We sat at the bar and with the gorgeous view of the fall and the bay, service was great from our bartender, Cooper. A good place in Bar Harbor with fair pricing and ambiance is bright, airy, comfortable, and clean.

My husband had the better meal by far with the crab cakes. Great flavor with some slaw that was fantastic. The fries on the both of plates were underwhelming. I got the lobster roll sandwich special with came with clam chowder, coleslaw, fries and a slice of blueberry pie. Clam chowder was great, coleslaw and fries were average if not below and the lobster roll was so lackluster and flavorless. Ended with a blueberry pie and it was alright but it's disheartening to have your main dish fall flat. Everything else I might have been okay with if the lobster was redeeming, but instead we drop $$$ on a below average meal. Waitstaff was kind, but inconsistant with checking on us. The inside of the restaurant was beautiful with overflowing plants and nice music. Personally, I wouldn't come back and I do not recommend but in a pinch it's okay.

We didn't get to Bar Harbor until late after 8pm and we hadn't had dinner yet. At the…read morerecommendation of the staff at the Wonder View Inn they suggested the Thirsty Whale which was not only open late but had good food...and they were correct. We didn't get downtown until after 9pm and coincidentally that meant parking the motorcycles was free. We were immediately seated after a warm welcome. Jess W was our server and she did a top notch job. I got the 6oz lobster roll with a side of clam chowder which was $53...tourist prices but the roll was top notch. It actually got delivered with the lobster bisque which I sent back after taking a taste. I would echo the sentiments of others in that it's a good thick soup but lacks in the meat department which is why I chose to have them bring me the clam chowder I originally ordered. It was full of potatoes and clam, I would get it again. There's not a lot of gluten-free options on the menu. The girlfriend opted for a garden salad ($11) topped with blackened haddock ($11) which was gluten free. It was a huge portion and more than enough to eat, she couldn't finish it. It was also very flavorful and juicy. Had we known it was going to be a lot of food we wouldn't have ordered the smoked trout dip but we are glad we did. It was $16 and they were able to bring it with extra veggies and put the crackers on the side for me to keep it gluten free. It was a decent sized portion and there were more than enough dippers and we quite enjoyed the salty smoked fish flavor. I asked for a local whiskey or bourbon and they don't server any sadly. The decor is mostly bar vibes. Dinner was $90 before taxes and $97 after before tip. I was very pleased with my lobster roll and would eat here again especially if we had another late arrival into town.

It has a…read morequiet charm in the dining room that perfectly compliments the town it's in and they serve the best fish and chips in town. As stated above, the fish and chips is the thing to get here. The fish is clearly fresh (not frozen), cooked to order and has an almost unbelievable level of perfect crisp on the batter that coats it. It's also wonderful to see that they're serving it with some fresh-cut fries as there's such an overwhelming improvement in both taste and texture that you get with fresh (never frozen) fries. The fries are also perfectly cooked with a good crisp on the outside, but still fluffy potato in the middle. They then went the extra step and have house-made tartar sauce and slaw to go with it. It's a simple dish in concept, but this place goes the extra mile to make you something that's both delicious and worth coming back for. The dining room is on the smaller side, so if you have a large party it would be a good idea to call ahead and make a reservation to be sure there's a place for your entire group when you get there. I came a little later in the evening (maybe around 7pm) and found it to be pleasantly quiet, though not empty. I was greeted quickly by the owner and seated quickly. I also found the staff to be pleasant and fun to chat with while I waited for my food (I sat at the bar). It's also worth noting they have a full bar and a good choice of local draft beer to choose from.
