As a number of other people have mentioned, this restaurant is on the pricer side, but I think something to note is that the menu price is inclusive of tax and tip. So, in the end I would say the pricing is fair considering the head chefs sources these snails from Vietnam. That being said, all the dishes here are amazing! My personal favorite were the coconut snails (Oc Len Xao Dua). The staff mostly only speaks Vietnamese, but I think you can get by with english or google translate. I also loved the plastic chairs and tables you dine on. It feels like you're transported to the streets of Vietnam!

If you want to experience some authentic, raw Vietnamese culture in San Jose, this is it. It's a little food truck with outdoor seating set up, which are the little vietnamese tables and stools. The seating is right next to the grills, which are also covered by tarps for shade, but then those tarps make it feel extra hot since it traps all the heat. Their specialty are clams and sea snails! However, most of it is frozen. All dishes are $20. The flavors were yummy, but the portions were small. I went with my parents and we easily devoured 7 dishes. Along with 2 drinks, our total was $149, which is pretty steep.

They said it was 3 Coronas, but it tasted flat and flavorless. Worse than draft beer. Not worth $10.

I really tried to give this place a chance, but wow... what a disappointment. First off, the food was just meh -- nothing stood out. Bland flavors, average quality, nothing that makes you want to take a second bite, let alone come back. For $20, I expected at least a decent portion not a children's bowl. And get this -- you'd think for that price, at least there'd be some kind of service. Nope. You have to grab your own tray and stick like you're at a school cafeteria, except you're paying restaurant prices for street food effort. The whole setup felt lazy and rushed, like they know people will come once and never return -- and they're right, because I won't be back. Save your money. There are plenty of places with better food, better value, and at least a hint of hospitality.

Ốc is fresh and reasonable price. Great service and atmosphere. The owner here is very nice and even offer us to sing Karaoke. Overall, this place reminds me of my childhood in Saigon.

The food here is so fresh, so flavorful, and the service was amazing. It makes me feel as if I were eating in Vietnam! If you ever come to San Jose, you cannot skip this place.

Snail dishes and fermented fish hotpot are all really tasty. Price is reasonable for the quality of fresh seafood.

It's so unique and addicting with a perfect sweetness to it that isn't overwhelming with a slight creaminess and not as savory as most other seafood boils. The crawfish they use is amazing as well, it must be a different kind from most others because the meat is more tender and sweet. I have no problem sucking the claw meat out where as other restaurants I have to dig inside the claw to pull out the meat. Soooo good and I visit as often as I can. Friendly service. They offer other food options as well like Bun Bo Hue, Bun Rieu, etc, but the seafood boil is so good that's all I ever get here. It's also open till 4am!!! Club and seafood boil after?

Regardless of the matter and situation, I'm happy to see that they're doing well. I came in super late last night being it the second to last Friday for Lent and was craving seafood. I remembered this spot had a dish of steamed clams in a basil and ginger broth that reminded me of my dad's Filipino version. I came back because I craved it and since I wasn't feeling 100%. This brought me back to life. It was so good and fragrant, which definitely brought me back to my childhood. I decided to also get a few more dishes since I'm acclimating to the Vietnamese culture. The food here is super good and the owner or staff here in general are very nice. I'm going to try to come back often since the price point is worth it in my opinion.

But using that same approach here, we were still very hungry afterward. Not only are the portions extremely small, but the flavors are inconsistent. The xào me was overly salty, while the rang muối ớt was surprisingly bland. On top of that, the presentation was top notched....... the portions are much smaller than what's shown in the photos, vegetables were stale, and there wasn't even any garlic included, despite it being clearly shown on the menu. The gỏi was okay. Will not return.

Too bad you can't add to the waitlist beforehand. We ended up getting seated at our table around 7:50pm This location is not as big as the other SJ location but it is slightly less busy than that one since it's further out. They have a white board near the door that lists the seafood that they're out of for the day, which is helpful to note. Menu and pricing is available through the QR code on the table We ordered 2lbs of shrimp and 1 lb of crawfish in medium spice with the whole shabang to share between 2 people. The seafood boil came out hot and within 10 mins but we felt like it wasn't marinaded into the seafood, potato's and corn enough. Portion and spice wise was perfect though. We were hoping to order garlic noodles but was a little disappointed it wasn't on their menu. Our host was attentive though and came by to check on us and give us more gloves

One reason is that I don't live in the San Jose area anymore, and another is that there are now so many seafood boil spots around since Boiling Crab really started the trend. One positive right away: there was no long wait. We arrived around 8pm and were seated immediately, which was great. I remember the days when we'd have to put our name down and walk around Target while waiting for our table. I do wish they offered combo bags like a lot of other seafood boil places do now, since that's always a hit. Instead, we ordered 3 pounds of shrimp with whole-sha-bang sauce in mild. The shrimp themselves were great--nice and big, not the tiny peanut-sized ones you sometimes get. The flavor was also really good. However, the "mild" tasted much spicier than I remembered. From past visits, mild always had a small kick but was still pretty manageable. This honestly tasted closer to medium. My boyfriend politely asked one of the servers if he could get a small side of garlic butter because the sauce was spicier than expected. She immediately responded that it would be $5 for extra sauce, and the way it was said came off pretty rude. We understand that there's an option to make the bag "extra saucy" for an additional charge, but he wasn't asking for extra sauce for the whole bag--just a small side to balance out the spice. Even a simple response like "I'm sorry it came out spicier than expected" would have gone a long way. I've worked in customer service for over 15 years, and I've always believed in "kill them with kindness." We weren't rude at all--we just mentioned that it seemed spicier than mild. In the end, we decided to just skip the extra sauce. Again, the flavor was still good, but to me this definitely tasted more like medium. When we got our check, a different server asked how everything was. My boyfriend mentioned that the sauce was spicier than mild, and she responded with, "Oh no, I'm sorry it wasn't exactly what you wanted." We told her it wasn't her fault since we had already mentioned it earlier, and she just gave us a sympathetic look. Overall, the food itself was good, and I'd probably give it a 4 for taste, but the lack of customer service knocked the experience down for me. I understand it was later in the evening and they still had a full lobby, but a little kindness and attentiveness would have made a big difference.
