Don't expect real help or accommodation if you're disabled. I have cerebral palsy and I started to have an episode in the middle of my final in the testing center. I started texting my significant other for help and the testing center staff took that as "cheating" as my episode continued I got to the point where I was completely immobile. They gave me my medication and then reported me as cheating on the exam and failed my class as a result. Thanks for doing the absolute bare minimum and then proceed to make the situation worse. An administrator actually told me it's not their job to "know every problem a student has" when I was referring to the poverty and lack of housing epidemic in Eugene. I told her it is absolutely the responsibility of the school to be aware of these issues in the town they have a college in! Not only that but some the instructors will discriminate against students with disabilities and actually compare you to others who are not disabled! Not a good school for people facing poverty or illness but they will put certain others on pedestals . read more

This has literally been the most singularly damaging experience in my life. And my life had been pretty damaging Good thing I'm damaged. I'd hate to see what it could do to a normal person. From the first day, getting to hear my teacher make fun of Mexican accents and a student worker who threw things at me Reporting multiple time and no one cared Falling down hard after slipping on un maintenanced stairs and breaking my glasses (they are still glued) Trying to get medical help and they turned me away!! The nurse practitioner didnt see me and claimed liability She froze when the desk attendant pointed to me. I developed new triggers to my already bad CPTSD. And it got worse from there. Examples of what I had to pay for during my short time there: - An "Effective Learning" class taught by a supremely irritable woman, during the course of which we learned invaluable things like... how to use highlighters - The usual college scam of forcing people to pay for unnecessary crap. Or maybe someone can explain to me why I "needed" even more math for a History degree...? - Paying also for the privilege of a certain instructor's "writing" class, which entailed almost no writing whatsoever... but did entail a great deal of unnecessarily overanalyzing depressing black history, along with the Republicans' apparent responsibility for 9/11 (not that there's any bias in academia or anything). This was followed by a second writing class that - again - involved very little actual writing, but a great deal of a self-described hedonist pontificating about the horrors of cutting down trees All this with the bonus of having to commute all the way out there, which is that much less pleasant when packed into a bus. Imagine a can of sardines having been injected with patchouli oil. Or is that just utter apathy toward hygiene? (This is Eugene; that would thus be a rhetorical question) read more

It's an okay school. A lot of the professors give you youtube videos to explain things which kind of helps. The titan store is for-profit so a lot of the books you have to permanently buy. I like how there are a lot of resource centers so you can get help in any subject that you are struggling with. read more

Going over my term by term finance data the last few days has given me the palps. I get angrier & angrier by the hour thinking back to what I went through during the start of Covid-19. How unnecessarily difficult Lane made it. I had experienced an episode of targeted harassment & things being thrown at me How I went w / out food frequently, my trash service was cut & for two weeks my home went dark & cold. It was in the 30's. Springfield had yet to follow orders to not shut off power. The advisors and councilors here are the absolute worst. You are sent on a wild goose chase talking to 5 different people just to have a simple question answered. They are rude and seem like they have no interest in helping you further your academics. I have gotten told 3 different things by 3 different people and none of it was helpful. Ben Fisher from the social science department refused to up my credit limit (even though I am a straight A student) just because he didn't like the schooling/ career path I was taking. Lane Community College (abbreviated to LCC) has pretty decent instructors that vary drastically in quality. My experience at Lane Community College has proven one thing: CUSTOMER SERVICE CAN MAKE OR BREAK AN EXPERIENCE. Lane Community College has some of the worst customer service ever; however, the instructors are pretty decent. The amount of things that shouldn't interfere with my education that I AM PAYING FOR is unacceptable. If I could, I would give LCC negative or zero stars. I should just have to only worry about keeping up with my Financial Aid requirements and getting in the next paper due on Tuesday (for example ). The wait times at LCC's Financial Aid services and the varying of experience every time is unacceptable (even with Remote Learning). Lane Community has added a few fees just for being remote, and many instructors have failed to adapt to COVID-19. Instructors were rumored to not be able to fail anyone during Spring Term 2020 (terms at Lane Community College are 11 weeks), and instructors failed people anyway. I even failed a class during the term , when instructors weren't supposed to fail anyone (first class I failed by the way). Many instructors haven't been forgiving with grades during the pandemic, and many haven't changed their curriculums much or at all. Emailing people at Lane Community College is a nightmare. I emailed a person at LCC in July 2020 and haven't gotten a response back yet (and it's December 26, 2020 when I am writing this review). I had emailed a few people from Lane Community College about a complaint regarding a class , which went all the way to the college president, and nothing hasn't gotten resolved yet. It feels like during the pandemic like I am blowing financial aid money (and I have gotten a lot of A's with a lack of value behind them). Taking classes at Lane Community College during the pandemic is a NO, unless you have few to no other options or just like stress. I took part time classes here for four years to obtain my Associate Transfer Degree, and have since transferred to a Oregon State. My experience here was mixed. Saving money was my main reason for attending here. The classes are a fraction of the cost as a university. I had some instructors I absolutely loved, and some I didn't. It was easy to get to know them with such small class sizes, one of the other benefits over a university. Overall the classes are not as well organized as the university, and some of the 100 level classes felt like a repeat of middle school. The buildings are an odd mix, ranging from beautifully constructed and maintained works of modern engineering, to dilapidated buildings with shower curtains instead of doors in the bathroom stalls. The financial aid and student service departments could stand to improve their customer service. The staff was often rude and not very knowledgeable. It frequently took a lot of effort to get simple questions answered. Considering that this is a community college, there are a lot of great features for students! They have a beautiful educational garden, a number of clubs, and the Rainy Day Food Pantry (providing free food to students in need) among other things. There are also lots of nice hiking trails directly off campus. I often went on walks through the woods to relax between classes. All in all, LCC isn't fantastic, but I would definitely recommend it for a student who's trying to save money or who doesn't want to complete a whole four-year degree. read more

Impossible to get good advising or customer service. This school makes it as difficult as possible to be successful. The teacher and curriculum is good, but the administration and councilors are subpar to say the least. I have 2 degrees from this school and my son is thinking about taking classes here now, but over time the issues that were rough there in the past now are overwhelming so. I have no real idea how to compare this to other schools aside from my early education more than 20 years ago. First, my fault for even thinking that taking a class while working 60 hours a week was a good idea, but shame on the counseling staff for agreeing "oh yea no problem, you can manage it". I expected my online class to be pretty simple and straight forward. But moodle combined with connect? Which assignments are when? Oh there are assignments this week over there too? What is going on!? I ended up missing about half the weekly assignments because they were spread out over 2 systems, and don't even get me started about a "team project" for an online class - BAD IDEA. If you see team project anywhere on your online class, run away. drop the class get a refund. I never finished my class, and I never received a bill, until I received a "Final Notice" with a bunch of late fees. They were unwilling to waive any of the late fees citing policy about the LCC webmail billing and the student responsibility to login and see it. I informed them that I work 60+ hours a week, and it was the Holiday season, how could I possibly expect to remember to login to a webmail that I never use. Speaking of which, you can not opt out of this email. You can not even select your primary email address to be the one you already have and probably check daily. They insist you use their email, and it is difficult to locate on their website even if you remember to login. There also appears to be no easy way to submit feedback directly on the website. I will write a letter, since I am old school like that I guess. read more

I have been a student at lane for a few years. Good luck getting anything done regarding registration, financial aid, billing or really anything out of your control. With any issue I have I end up going through 5-6 employees for someone to "fix" a simple problem and it is usually done very poorly. I really don't have anything good to say about their customer service. Your struggle does not seem to impact them and that's apparent. I really don't appreciate negative reviews but as a student it is disrespectful that these people are considered "resources". It doesn't matter when I come in for help, even when there are no students in front of me it still takes a few hours typically to speak with someone. read more

Technically inept: terrible website and poorly staffed customer service representatives (last time I called it took 45 of waiting on hold to talk to someone.) Low quality courses: I was thoroughly unimpressed with the course content of CNA I. I knew more than my instructor. There was so much hand holding from the instructors and such rudimentary, unchallenging content I was bored and uninspired throughout the majority of my time spent in class. Other than earning a complete BS certification, I got absolutely nothing out of a $1000 class. Lane is for people unable to self-motivate and think critically for themselves; for people who want to fast-track into menial careers with menial pay. I'm not a fan of community colleges in general because they have too much bureaucracy and disallow students to be held accountable for themselves, but if you are looking at community college go to PCC or elsewhere. I went to Lane for years and loved the school- Im writing a review about the transcript program they use: student clearinghouse This was absolutely a horrific experience getting transcripts sent from Lane Community College in Eugene to Lewis and Clark in Portland (2 hour drive). I am about to drive the transcripts up after my third attempt to get this thing ordered correctly. They have had MORE than a month to handle the 1st process. I ordered a transcript be sent from San Diego to Lewis and Clark the same day and from U of O to Lewis and Clark and they both arrived in due order, which means Clearinghouse didn't send it at all. Not only did the Clearinghouse not have the Lewis and Clark proper address in their drop-down menu, the option to manually put in an address which I did- did not put in what I requested as a fill in. It said it was sent on the 10th! when I put in an order before the 1st and had paperwork to fill out from them (finally hearing from them) on the 6th. I have sent clearing house more than 3 emails all of which they did not respond to, even though they gave me an incident # and sent an automated email telling me it could be 24 hrs to respond. I called them and they told me they sent it to a general address and not the one on my Clearinghouse records. Well its the 23rd and my application was due on the 15th. I do NOT recommend going through this site for ordering ANYTHING- call the community college and have them do it over the phone (but even then the transcript guy who took my call at Lane was a complete COMPLETE jerk to me and actually put the Lewis and Clark address in wrong, LIstening to my gut, I called back and double checked and had to order a 3rd one with a correct address from a nicer lady on the phone) basically.... walk in and do it. I recommend that Lane Community College drop this service provider IMMEDIATELY based on all of clearinhouse reviews.... They are basically a transcript school and have to send the majority of AAOT and graduating students transcripts to other schools. They need a rush order process, and they need e-transcripts. The teachers and guidance counselors are wonderfull! The only thing is the financial aid department. As I was monitoring my account I saw everything was complete but no money had gone through. I called to see what was happening with my account and talked to a woman who must have hated her job. During the conversation at one point she told me she wasn't going to pretend to be nice to me anymore and when I asked her a logical question about me account she said she wasn't going to play a "what if" game with me. This one was a bit hard to rate because of the strong differences in the schools departments. read more

Mostly, I had a great experience there. The instructors have Much smaller classes than U of O, and most of them will really work with you and want you to succeed. For a community college, it has a very pretty campus, and *almost* enough parking, with no fees. There's also a WorkForce/WorkSource office there, with lots of help & resources. Downside: The math resource center is not so supportive, and the computerized testing there is completely sucks. I found several wrong answers in it's system (these were verified by instructors). Tutoring: too few tutors means you sit in a big room full of students and wait, and wait for help. read more

Lane offers so many resources to help the student succeed regardless of circumstance. I would rate lane cc zero stars if I could. I am a student at U of O, and it has been a nightmare trying to help my boyfriend transfer to this community college. Neither of us have ever experienced such unorganized, rude staff. Everyone we talk to consistently send us to different departments over and over, claiming they do not have the answers to our basic transfer student questions. We begun this process in NOVEMBER and we are still experiencing major issues - with the financial aid department in particular. This has been ridiculously and unnecessary stressful. As a veteran that is looking to receive an education, they have been appallingly disrespectful. Apparently there is no one to complain to in person, other wise we would definitely give them a piece of our mind. I would never recommend this community college to anyone - if you are reading this, try Central Oregon Community College or probably any other community college in the state of Oregon. read more

It would be great if they had a walking map. I can't tell you how many dead ends I found trying to do a straight line. If there wasn't a dead end I had to go up stairs and right back down. If the map exists I haven't been able to find it. It does no good to just show the building locations without letting you know how to get through. I agree with most on the financial aid personnel, they are terrible. It also has nothing to do with their reorganization. They were horrible before too. Some very good teachers though. Over all the worst Community College I ever attended when you get snotty responses for asking too many questions from financial aid. If I had gotten an appropriate answer I may have asked less. read more
