She even followed up via text message later on to see how the photo shoot went. We shared some of the final digital photos with her to share with the team to show them how well they turned out. My son commented on how well-fitting and comfortable the clothes are to wear, especially given the fact that they are considerably more formal than those he typically wears. I view them as classic nvestment pieces that will serve him well for years to come...not throwaway fashion.

They have their own numbering system for plus sizes, that can be confusing at first. Service is unobtrusive, and the store is well organized so you shouldn't have trouble finding what you want. Fitting rooms are roomy and each is decorated differently. Overall it's a low-key, low-pressure way to shop, and if you like their styles you'll usually find the things you need (and more besides).

I took my daughter in to look for a dress, but she is currently in between sizes. I asked one of the employees if they could measure her for a dress. The associate stared at me like I asked her to do something crazy. They measure customers all the time for bras, so I didn't think my question was unusual. I just wanted to know her chest, waist, and hip measurements. The employee told me "Well whatever size she wears...is what you buy." But that was my question, what size fits her best? It is difficult sometimes because people have different shapes that fit into the same size. I tried to explain to her that I didn't know what size would fit her the best, she cut me off and told me to have her try on clothes and I'll get my answer. So I picked items out for my daughter to go try on, while waiting for her the same employee kept looking at me. That made me feel extremely uncomfortable. So after my daughter tried on many items I was able to figure out what size fit her best. The dress she tried on was a 14/16. But the dress online didn't come in merged sizes. The dress was available in a 14, 16, etcetera. So I wasn't sure if she was more of a 14 or a 16. I didn't want the dress to be too small or too baggy. So I asked another associate for her opinion. She stared at me dumbfounded, then said "wait, what, I don't understand." So I repeated myself slowly trying to explain better. The associate still did not understand. So again I asked, not really expecting an answer at this point. She then said well it depends on what size fits her. I explained AGAIN that the dress she tried on in the store was a merged size 14/16, but the dress online came in a 14 or 16. She reluctantly answered that she always goes for the smaller size. I just answered "okay, great, thank you!" And left the store. The whole conversation made me feel stupid, and degraded. I don't know if this location was desperate and hired random people, or if their associates are trained in customer service. At this point, I'm not sure if I will ever return to this location. Corporate definitely needs to send help!

Naturally any store front sign advertising "UP TO 75% OFF" grabs my attention and with nothing much going on (other than walking the mall), i detoured into the store to check out the goods. To my surprise, maurice's had a wonderful array of trendy clothing from the moment i hit the first rack. Their brand jeans are for the younger mature lady and cut very favorably. These are not your daughter's jeans with sizes from 2-20 and styles with jeggings to straight. Fall will re- introduce the flare (YES PLEASE!!!) Eventually I made my way to the sales rack (natch) where i grabbed up some cute t-shirts and hoodies at $9.95 ea and jeans at $14.95. Fabulous (end of season) deals available! I may have left with a few extra outfits at a very good price! The sales staff are friendly and helpful (they'll set you up with a dressing room ala Ann Taylor) and the fitting rooms and sales floor were clean and kept in order (this was a busy Saturday mind you). I think their overall quality has gone up, but I don't think it completely justifies the price hike. After working retail, clearance is my best friend; as a plus sized customer, Maurice's clearance is not. I'm not sure who's idea it was to jam the few plus size pieces in with the standard sizes in clearance, and I'm not sure why it was allowed. Even thrift stores have the convenience of separating their extended sizes from the rest. The regular priced areas are always extremely tidey, and you're bound to find at least two pieces you can't leave the store without.
