Lander Bar had an amazing rye beer, so if anyone happens to go there, let me know what it is called please. We were served quickly and I have to say the prices were very reasonable. A bit on the noisy side, but hey, it is a bar in the evening right? The good part is it is family friendly, many folks with kids there. Not as loud on the GG side, it was a little more open. Went here Sunday Feb 16th to have lunch and a few drinks like I often do. The bartender Madison was working and I've got to say I was horribly disappointed in her service. She walked by a few times before I had to ask for a drink and menu and mind you there was only 4 ppl at the bar. then again ask her to order food. When I went back up to get another drink I was pretty much ignored and had to ask again for another drink while being completely ignored with her right in front of me messing with glasses in the ice. I was totally disappointed with her service and if she is in there I will not be staying. She needs to learn customer service and how not to ignore ppl. Thumbs down read more

While wanting to check out local spots for our vacation, we were very much not welcome here. The bartender made an effort to not look at us much less serve us. We asked about a specific brand, and were no. Ordered an IPA, and after what felt like 10 minutes of sitting at the bar, the drink never made it to me, but the bartender continued to serve others around. A great spot to linger over lunch with a beer and gourmet sandwich. They have lots of unusual pairings and since I'd recently had oral surgery I had to ask to not have the ciabatta bread with my big pork, fried onions & peppers with a nicely seasoned mayo. I had pretty much zero expectations when it came to finding food or beer in Lander. No offense... I just didn't really have an idea of what I was getting into. So often restaurants/bars feel like they can get away with serving sub par food/beer when they're all that's there, but that was not at all the case! You can either sit at the bar tables, or the long old wood bar counter to enjoy your fresh local brew. And if the mood strikes you, you can either walk over to the restaurant's ordering counter to snag some AWESOME grub, or ask your friendly bar maid or man to lend ya a hand instead. Beer Favs: On Belay IPA. Oh you climbers and your rhyming! This is the closest thing they have to an amber, and thank the heavens! Amber's can be kind of boring when they don't have enough flair, and some IPAs can hop me right out of my wits. This was the perfect combo. Excellent body and mellow kick, not to heavy to go with a meal, but it would be worth it to just have it by itself. Half Tanker HEFE. This might be one of the better Hefeweizens I've ever had. Super light, crisp, springy, and truly refreshing. Something for sure to make you go 'ahhh' in any amount of heat. The light hint of citrus in the beer is brought to a nice head with the addition of a lemon wedge. Goes great with all the food they serve. Food Favs so far: 1)Their organic beef burger with a fresh bun spread with chipotle mayo, topped with jalapenos, onions, lettuce, crisp tomato, and accompanied by well seasoned waffle fries. THIS WAS SOOOO GOOOD. I can hardly remember the last time I had such a great tasting burger. You can just taste the happy cow in every bite (sadistic, I know). I feel so much better after eating something like this! 2) Their Philly Cheese Steak! Uhhhmmm, HELLO! While this wasn't made in Philly, it might as well have been. The bread was so soft and fresh, you could just mold it to your perfectly cooked beef mixed with still slightly crunchy peppers and onions held together by wonderfully flavorful peperjack cheese. To top it all off, it even had the same chipotle spread as the burger, YES!!! Nirvana may come to those who wait, but hey I don't mind cheating a bit when it tastes this good! read more

We stopped in Lander to check out the 4th of July fireworks. Stopped here to get our bearings. Not a cowboy bar. Somewhat eclectic. Apparently there's a mountaineering crowd that hangs in Lander for the recreational opportunities. Local beer, from the Cowfish (next door) on tap. Nice patio. Convivial crowd. After a brief reconnoiter of the Town,we returned for dinner before the fireworks. Good bar grub. We had pizza,salads and wings. All tasty. A good time was had by all. read more

The Bartender was absolutely wonderful and very professional. A billigerent couple came up to him complaining about bussing their own table when there are signs everywhere saying you are suppose to. Wanted to love this place - gorgeous weather, great set up, killer location, Lander is wonderful, looked like a fun/historic bar w/ cool gear....but a staff can truly ruin your experience. I get I'm not a local, but when I'm sitting at the bar ready to grab a pre dinner drink & you take other orders of ppl that come up after me, act like I'm not there, no eye contact, like you are annoyed....I'm simply gonna say 'no thank you' & leave. I was at an arts conference for the past few days. The home bar was the Lander Bar. When I lived in Lander, this place was a basic local place. It's evolved into the NOLS bar. It's related to the Gannet Grill next door. Tonight, I was there watching the CSU vs WYO football game. I tried the fish and chips. It was four small pieces of fish and waffle fries. It was the right amount for me, but a little pricey, in my mind, at $13.95. The brewery is in the Cowfish next door. I like the On Belay IPA. They had a dark seasonal called Chain Reaction that's hoppy. I was surprised there were no conference attendees hanging around. read more

The boyfriend and I ended up spending a night in Lander on our way out of Yellowstone Park and turned to Yelp to figure out the best, most inexpensive place to have a dinner/beer. Enter Lander Bar! There weren't many people in there at the time, but I blame that on it being 9pm on a Sunday night. We were immediately greeted by the bartender/waitress like we were old friends and given excellent microbrew recommendations. So good! (side note: 3 pints of microbrew beer for $10.50? Sold!) Based on the reviews I decided to go for pizza for dinner and wasn't disappointed, nor was the boyfriend in his hot wings or blue cheese burger. So tasty! Plus, we enjoyed ourselves a game of pool and a some good small talk with our waitress. Highly recommended! read more

This place has by far has the best beer ever! The brew master has won countless awards for the beer he brews. Truly a master at his art. This beer is brewed just across the patio at the Cowfish. Beer is priced great, and is second to none in my book. The bar is definitely a great western bar with some twists. It has a great mix of the locals, and your NOLS folks (hardcore outdoors folks). They have a decent music scene when something comes through, a juke box, and a pool table. Definitely have scene a fight or two break out during the time I lived there. Classic western style, absolutely classic. Be sure to grab a burger there, at the time the burgers to get were any of the BOB (beyond organic beef) burgers... I think since then they've upgraded them all to that. Oh yeah and the place is haunted. read more

I pulled into this place because there was a huge sign on the side of the building that said something along the lines of "Local Burgers and Beer," then realized I'm a total sucker for the word 'local.' Good place in the summer and Fall season when it has a mix of people locals and part-time residents. The beer is good, award winning microbrew. In The winter season is more subdued,quiet and clickish downstairs. I came in after camping and was ready to eat a lot and drink a bit. Maybe it was the way that I looked or because I asked if they took cards, I need to keep my cash to pay the camping fees...but the bartender at the counter was not friendly to me. First even though I was waiting, he talked to another employee for a bit about something she needed. Little interactions which should be cool seemed strained like I was a bother to him. When I got my nachos they had no ground beef and when I informed him of such, he literally did and said nothing I asked to make sure that he take the meat charge off, he said nothing and I was to over his attitude and then paid for something that I did not get bc I paid for that phantom meat. Oh and when I asked for silverware so I could scoop the fixings onto my nachos. He found me a random fork in some jar. IDK if it is way the food comes from next door or maybe his own personality. But I was hungry, ready to eat more than nachos and drink some more beer, maybe buy a T-shirt to remember my awesome summer trip in Wyoming, drop some serious $ like I have done in other towns. But I left, miffed. As I solo woman teacher traveling all summer, I really like to come into town and get a feel for the vibe. A must-stop when traveling through Lander. Filled with both tourists and locals, we stopped after a few days of camping and outdoor fun, ready for a good drink and hearty food. We found just that. Good selection of beer, perfectly cooked burgers, and otherwise, just a cool place to put your feet up. Didn't realize there was a nice patio out back, hope to return and experience this (probably technically a part of the Gannett Grill). Also a little ice cream shop attached to the outside by the park. read more

Came in for an afternoon beer and food. We sat down at a table and after a good ten minutes of being ignored I approached the bar asking for a couple beers and menus and was met by a super rude bartender. The place was not busy so being ignored for that extended amount of time should have been our first clue that this was not going to be a good experience. We went into the restaurant to order our food which was not good even by bar food standards.
