It's located right in the heart of town just across from the shopping center. Parking was pretty easy in the lot across the street. We happened to walk in at the right time. There were only a few other guest already inside. But once we were seated, minutes later the place started to trickle with people coming in and ended up full. There was a good amount of us which two tables were already situated together. The restaurant itself isn't that big. Two side, main is where the counter and kitchen is with a smaller dining area. The other is mainly dining. The counter was where all the fresh pastries were on full display. Let me say, they all looked amazing and some were ordered to try before we even had our meal. Dessert first obviously. Menu wise, there was a mixture of everything. Started off with a pot of tea and an ice tea. Asked for a slice of lemon which they didn't have. Odd as it's a restaurant. Anyways, main was the Antonio which is your traditional breakfast with a few other items added. Fried eggs, smoked bacon, sausage links, haggis, black pudding, sautéed mushrooms, roasted tomatoes, hash brown, halloumi and served with toast and butter. It was quite good. Toast was pretty massive for the two slices. Everything was quite tasty and flavorful. Th service was quite nice. Staff were all pretty friendly which is a plus. Dessert was amazing especially their raspberries blondie. Overall we enjoyed our meal.

Coffee Neuk to the left was the first coffee shop I saw and which stood out from all the other coffee shops around the market place. My first thought was that the prices are high and the food about average, because of the closeness to such a famous attraction. My expectations were "luckily" not fulfilled :-) When I entered, there was nobody at the counter and a couple was sitting near the window in the adjoining tea room. The place seemed deserted, but "oh mei" was I wrong, Within minutes the tea room filled up with people enjoying an afternoon chat with friends or tourists just getting in from the castle visit, like me. I had to order at the counter and was informed that the scones were sold old. Next choice was a piece of carrot cake and a mug of Hot Chocolate, which by the way was a Cadbury Hot Chocolate (just to point it out, as they appear to be very proud of the Cadbury logo). I took seat at a small table (1-2 people max, but really cute) and attempted my first bite of the carrot cake. What can I say? It was not dry, no, it was soft and juicy with a layer of cream cheese topping. The menu choices are limited, but what you get has substance. The staff is very nice, the prices very accommodating ( a lasagna for abt £4 ?!?) and the place very clean. I went to the toilet and when coming back my table was cleaned and no trace of me remained. Ah well, and so I continued forth on my journey back home.........

It's a lot cheaper than some of the other cafes such Ebulum (previously reviewed). But this is really where its charm lies. The staff here are really friendly, though for a Linlithgow cafe that doesn't seem unusual. It is a tad small, but they make the most of the space. Unfortunately at lunch though this place gets pretty popular. Expect the usual sorts of hot drinks, as well as some snacks ideal for lunch. I had the soup of the day which cost me £2.40. That's pretty good, or at least average, for Edinburgh prices. But the portions were bigger than normal and it was served with decent bread. I like to think we Scots are proud of our soup but you'd be surprised how many times I'm disappointed by the poor quality soup served around Edinburgh! Coffee Neuk didn't disappoint though.

We paid a visit after a day out tour at The Helix Park…read more Front of house lady was friendly and efficient and joined two tables together to fit our party (six adults, two toddlers and one baby) The Cadgers Brae is part of the Brewers Fayre group with a standard set of menus for all their branches. We ordered and paid at the cash desk, and even though we paid in three "chunks" they didn't have a problem with that and neither did the kitchen. I went through a portion of Spicy potatoes dippers which were tasty and crispy. As a main course I had the slow cooked Lamb Shank properly done with a semi-sweetish after taste. We also shared some Nachos which were adequate. My mates got: * The Ultimate Sausage and Mash which was ok taste-wise but a bit disappointing size-wise (after all supposed to be the Ultimate...) * Red Onion Quiche, thumbs up. * A Brewers Fayre Burger, a bit too well done. * Kids got chicken nuggets and garden peas and spaghetti with tomato sauce, and they cleaned their plates too, so, good marks for that too. Waiter was friendly. His service was okish as it was just for clearing/cleaning and delivering plates; however, it was slow between starters and mains as we ended up waiting for 20 minutes to get our tables cleared prior to our main course arrival. The Cadgers Brae has a cool play kids' area as it's a family friendly place, a strong WiFi (albeit, need to register) and an ATM machine (with a £ 1.75 charge). All in all it was a positive experience as Brewers Fayre offer good value for money. Recommended for families, groups and if you are in a budget. Waiter should be more fast and clear tables before bringing mains. (friendly waiter too) Good value for money.

As Brewers' Fayres go, this is decided average. The meals are nothing fantastic, they never are,…read morebut there is a bar area conveniently completely separate from the family dining so depending on why you are there you can stay clear of the kids or not worry about bothering the kid-less. The large indoor play area keeps the little ones occupied, but there are only a few tables with a view of the play area, all of which are designed for large groups. The play area itself has a couple of good slides and lots of different places for kids to explore. Unfortunately there are also several of the dreaded (by parents at least) rides. Outside is another play area and a large are with picnic benches. The smoke free legislation has unfortunately made this the realm of the smokers (I really wish there was somewhere for smoking separate from where kids are expected) but if its not too packed with smokers its a nice place to sit on a sunny afternoon and enjoy a glass of wine while the wee ones burn off some energy.

When we arrived at the restaurant the waiter who greeted us didn't appear to know we had a booking, however he made a note of our room number and informed us of what we were allowed to eat as part of our package. He then took a drinks order and asked us to wait in the bar area, giving us menus at the same time. After a while he arrived to take our food order. A further few minutes later a waitress came and took us to our table. The starter and main course, which we had ordered earlier, arrived very promptly and were of an acceptable quality. The waiting staff were friendly and polite. However, it was at dessert that the problems started. First of all we had to wait at least 30 minutes for our dessert to arrive after we placed our order, with no explanation from the staff. Just before it arrived the head waiter poked his head round the corner and said that our chocolate fondant would be with us shortly (we felt this was unnecessary, especially as he almost shouted!). After finishing our dessert, we got up and left - as we were hotel guests our dinner had been pre-paid, and all our fellow diners who were guests had similarly left this way. We were a few steps out of the restaurant when the head waiter came chasing after us demanding that we 'sign our bill'. I explained that nobody had mentioned this before and he asked our room number (which we had already given to the other waiter) before leaving. We both felt that his behaviour was inappropriate as there were other guests in the reception area at the time and it made us look as if we had run off without paying, which of course we hadn't. Overall although the food was nice the evening was slightly marred by the behaviour of the head waiter. A shame really!
