Hmmm! Where do I begin? Well Lamppost Pizza in Davis has become my go-to for pizza places. Located in west Davis, it is out of the hustle and bustle of downtown Davis. Easy to get to from just about anywhere around the Davis area. Lamppost Pizza has amazing seating. There is an outside patio so you can enjoy your pizza and drink in the fresh Davis air. There is also a smaller section that's great for parties and a bigger section that has great seats that can view one of their televisions from any angle. Speaking of televisions, there has to be a bazillion of them inside the restaurant. Lamppost Pizza would be a great place to watch sports. I've personally seen three different sports playing on different TVs while I was eating a pizza. Their pizzas are amazingly good. Not too greasy and not very dry. When it come to toppings, they don't skimp out on them. Loading your pizzas up with whatever you want on them. They also serve a dessert pizza that is fantastic. This pizza is covered in sugar, cinnamon and has a vanilla frosting drizzled over the top of it. It is definitely a must get when you go to Lamppost Pizza! If you do decide to go there, check out their one of a kind soda machine. This soda machine dispenses soda using all natural flavors and sugars. None of the high fructose corn syrup stuff. Davis isn't that big, but there are areas in the city I don't get to often. Lamppost is in one of those areas, but thanks to an Official Yelp Event (OYE) I had the opportunity to try this establishment. The food: Our menu included garlic bread with mozzarella and a variety of fresh, piping hot pizzas straight from the oven. The garlic cheese bread was my favorite. Simple and satisfying. The slices I tried, a specialty veggie (the florentine) and a specialty meat pizza, were loaded with quality cheese and fresh toppings. There was too much cheese for my preference, but considering how accommodating the staff is I'm sure I could request less cheese on my next visit. Each table had red pepper flakes and Parmesan...both musts when pizza is on the menu. I also tried their Southwest salad. Greens, avocado, bacon, chicken, corn, red onion, and a red-hot buffalo style ranch dressing. My kinda salad...a little bit healthy, a little bit decadent, and a whole lotta deliciousness! Lamppost had a really cool natural soda vending machine too. The space: Comfortable and spacious, with plenty of tables and booths. There was a lively energy, with families and college students, but it wasn't overly loud. Nice and clean with an open kitchen. The staff: Professional and approachable. The manager and owner were on hand to greet us and answer any questions. They were very accommodating of our group. Fast, friendly and attentive service. But I wasn't impressed by the pizza. You could barely taste the marinara, and the toppings were heaped after the pizza was cooked. This is very good pizza but beware it's pricey. I feel tricked that I had a coupon BOGO pizza slices. I got 2 free when I bought 2, a large salad and a soda and it was $17!!!! Thank goodness one of the slices was like 2 so it was a lot of pizza but my salad was ridiculous. All arogala and spinach leaves. Toppings were red onion, mushrooms, baby tomatoes, croutons and I think a little feta. To much leafy and not enough of the other stuff. Share it if you get the big side salad! A well established business in Davis and I just now tried it out? Criminal. My only excuse is I live on the other end of town but now I'll be heading west more often for great pizza. Last night I was introduced to Lamppost at a tasting event. We got to sample a number of pizzas and drinks. A large salad was also available for tasting but a lettuce allergy prevented me from trying it but my husband raved about it. I did taste the spicy ranch dressing and it had a nice kick to it. The pizzas were fabulous. Just the right amount of cheese and toppings on a delicious crust. You could tell that quality fresh ingredients are used. There are a number of local craft beers on tap and staff are happy to make recommendations. The self-serve soda machine dispenses all natural sodas with some unusual options besides the standard cola and root beer. I had some Agave Cream Soda and it was fantastic. You just don't see cream soda very much and it's long been a favorite of mine. Lamppost is located in the Westlake Plaza Shopping Center, a strip mall with plenty of parking. We arrived long after dusk and had trouble finding the restaurant because there are no lighted marquee signs. I'm guessing that is a requirement of the mall. Only the grocery store has a lighted sign, all the other business do not. We circled the parking lot a couple of times until determining which storefront was the pizza restaurant. If you find yourself in a similar situation don't give up, it's worth the frustration for great pizza. BTW, they are located about mid-way in the mall. read more

We were traveling home to Reno and looking for a place to have pizza when we found Lampost Pizza on our route. We ordered a gluten free crust with lots of toppings. It was absolutely delicious. The server was very nice and attentive to our needs. We ate outside since we were accompanied by our dog. They have a nice seating area that is shady and comfortable. I was outraged yesterday when I had unexpected guests and I phoned in an order for a pineapple/ canadian bacon EXTRA LARGE PIZZA. I was told it would be $29 and some cents. When I got there and paid, my receipt said a LARGE PIZZA on it. When I questioned this (paying over 29 for a 2 topping pizza) that it was supposed to be extra large, they told they didn't have extra large pizzas and that their 16 inch large pizza was bigger than most large pizzas and therefore they had a right to say it was extra large when it wasn't. In fact it was not at all bigger than a large, and had only a little pineapple and the canadian bacon was sliced so thinly that it burnt in the oven, how cheap can they be! First time here. My sister (I'm 8) is a student at UC Davis and we spent the day with her. After hiking around Putah Creek for an hour or two, we decided to go back to the car and get pizza for dinner. After looking up a few places on the phone, we decided to go to Lamppost Pizza (turned out to be the best decision of the day). After we picked it up, we drove to Northstar Park Pond. We found a bench and we ate some pizza (we also had breadsticks). The pizza was still warm after we drove for a little bit. it actually was pretty hot. I had to drink diet Pepsi after every bite. The breadsticks we're awesome. I don't usually eat breadsticks from other places except for Little Caesars, but these breadsticks we're FABULOUS! The pizza was fresh, and delicious! Expensive and not that great. We ordered thin crust... but it was soggy. There was so much cheese it felt like it was drowning. Unfortunately, I didn't notice bell peppers in the description (husband is allergic) and the entire pie was swimming in them. There wasn't nearly enough chicken. It was $27 for a medium...and that didn't include the delivery driver's tip. We could have had three Blaze pizzas, all different, for the same amount of money. Since there are so many pizza spots in Davis, it's taken me a while to get through them all. I just recently went to Lamppost for the first time based on excellent things I've read and am really glad I did! I loved the interior with tons of seating and lots of screens to watch whatever sports are on. They also had a HUGE selection of beers (including some ciders) which is always fun and exciting. On top of that, they had Pepsi products but their soda fountain was a brand I hadn't heard of with unique flavors and no high-fructose corn syrup which was really fun. We got half pepperoni pizza and half with heirloom tomatoes and mushrooms. I was so excited that I got in before the heirlooms went out of season! The toppings were LOADED on there which I definitely always appreciate. Our pizza came out pretty dang quickly and was absolutely delicious. We also had a Cesar salad which was basic but good. I wish we had tried the cheese bread and the cinnamon pizza but I guess that just means I'll have to go back soon to try them! read more

Have had their burgers throughout the pandemic, which are were very good but went in to try their pizza for the first time. I got a small pepperoni which I decided to enjoy in the restaurant. I left my half pizza and a whole slice on my plate while I went to the bathroom. I was gone for less than 5 minutes, when I came back it was all gone! I'm sure it might've seemed that I left but I didn't expect for my pizza to be completely cleared off the table in that small amount of time. I think the pizza is pretty good here but a tad expensive. Which is okay if I am getting well made stuff. (which it seems they have!) We got 3 medium pizzas, a pitcher of beer and it was 88 dollars. It isn't horrible for a group of 6 people, but also not super cheap. I enjoyed the plainest pizza of them all which was a cheese pizza with olives (my fave!) The supreme style pizza and the garlic chicken were both good but a bit too heavy for my liking. They also have a great beer menu and all natural sodas. Location: In West Davis in the Westlake Plaza Inside: Has a lot of seating typical of a casual indoor pizza spot, with lots of comfy benches and booths. Lots of TVs everywhere with sports on always. Pizza: I always get the personal cheese pizza and it tastes great when freshly made! Their pizzas are a bit on the greasy side so I always pat down a few times with some napkins. I think I've ordered a few larges from time to time too, and Lamppost never disappointed! Other Food: Surprisingly, their burger is very good! Way better than I was expecting. I also managed to substitute my fries with some pesto pasta also, and that was a big bonus because Im not the biggest fan of fries. I think this place is lesser known and that's frustrating, because their pizza is pretty good. They're greasy, but what good pizza isn't? I always get their trusty cheese pizza, and I'm never disappointed. They also have several TV's in there if you'd like to watch sports. There's a lot of indoor seating and some arcade games, so it's a pretty entertaining spot. It's in the Westlake Shopping Mall, which many might consider to be out of the way. Right now, it's definitely not somewhere we go often or at all, but when I lived nearby, I would always go to Lamppost when I wanted some pizza. We ordered 2 large pizzas' a cheese and a veggie Jackson on 1/20/22. We went to pick up our pizzas, returned to our apartment and opened the pizzas. We noticed a slice was missing from our cheese pizza and decided to call and speak to a manager. The manager was not accepting that business made a mistake, we were polite and only asked for a remake, not even a refund. The manager continued saying that we were lying and that he remembered cutting our pizza personally, to which we responded that we have a picture (shown above) from when we opened the box. Came here with every intent to catch a good buzz and down an entire cheesy, saucy pizza with my brother. BOTH HAPPENED. We visited on NYE to kick things off right (we were there early afternoon). Not many people in the place, which is how I prefer it to be sometimes when I just want to chow down and converse. My brother ordered some beer, and I ordered a half bottle of 7 Deadly Zins. The poor guy at the register did not know how to open my wine, but I won't fault him for it. It was not a winery, and this guy responded professionally to an experience he was not familiar with by admitting it. Better than fumbling around about it. My brother showed him what to do and we were on our way to catching a buzz. A bit of imbibing passed and still no pizza. A woman came over to us to apologize and offered us some fresh bread as we waited. Hell to the yeah. So, we chowed down on this deliciously hot cheesy bread with ranch and marinara sauces. It was great to prime our stomachs for the 16 inch beast that we would own in a few minutes. Pizza came out and it was delectable to my eyes and mouth. Every. Slice. Gone. Situated in a deserted plaza in West Davis, Lamppost is the hidden gem. Though I was raised as a Davisite, I'm supposed to rave about Woodstocks, Village Bakery, and Steve's, but the one that takes the cake (or pie) is Lamppost. Everything is fresh and the dough is to die for. My carnivorous brother usually gets The Linebacker (and finishes the entire large pizza), while I'm the total opposite and usually opt for anything that has lots of veggies or combination pizzas (no sausages please) like the Veggie Jackson, The Best of Seven, etc. The amount of toppings they give you is very generous and they aren't stingy about extras. Green bell peppers still have their crunch and mushrooms and tomatoes are delicious. I wish they could slice the tomatoes for the Veggie Jackson and other specialty pizzas into disk-like shapes instead of block-shaped ones. Be sure to eat your pizza immediately when it's fresh out of the oven. The crust is not as thick and bread-y like Woodstocks. There is a nice crunch and chew consistency when you bite into it. I believe the crust is what makes the best pizza, because I, no joke, ate 7 out of 10 pieces from a large pizza. What can I say? I may be a skinny Asian girl, but I have an appetite of a 200 pound man. The pizzas are not as greasy; to ensure you're getting good quality cheese for your pizza, it shouldn't come out as greasy. Be sure to sprinkle on some crushed pepper flakes to not only add a little heat, but also to make the meal feel a little "lighter". Maybe that's how I was able to devour 70% of the entire pizza. :P Prices may be a bit high, but you can get the best deal when you come in on Mondays and Tuesday for their buy 1, get another for $3 (used to be $2, but still a good deal). Really tasty pizza in West Davis unlike the other chain restaurants. I used to live in Brush Creek Apartments right next to this shopping center. There was a walkway between the apartment complex and Westlake Plaza that led you right to the Lamppost Pizza storefront. I was totally stoked to discover that decent pizza was a hop and a skip away. This place has a ton of plasma TVs and is frequented by families and Little League teams or folks just trying to catch a broadcast sports event. But it is well worth the price of around $20 for a large pie. They also have pitchers of beer available for pretty cheap ($7-9). I only wish this place was open later, especially on the weekends when the drunk pizza-craving monster within my innards demands sustenance! read more

I clearly underestimated this place. A lot of people on YELP are comparing Lamppost to Woodstocks in Davis, however I have to respectfully disagree. I came here for the first time on 7/20/16 and order a small pepperoni pizza. First, I want to say that I was amazed by the size. It was a lot bigger than I expected. I certainly was not complaining. Second, the pepperoni was on another level. Each piece was curly and crisp (unlike Woodstocks) and had a great flavor. Lastly, the dough was well cooked and the crust was a bit chard (just how I love my pizza!). I would definitely return. I gave the business 4 stars because I was not greeted for nearly two minutes when entering and because I have yet to try their variety of pizzas. But let me be clear, I give their pepperoni pizza 5 out of 5. I plan to update my review on my overall experience when I return in the near future. read more

I get a coupon EVERYDAY for a $5 medium one topping pizza....use that coupon during happy hour (M-F 3-6pm) and order large breadsticks to go with it...you will walk out of there with a delicious meal for your family for $11. Nom. Parking is great. Seating is great!! the place is huge and they have several large TVs usually turned to different sporting events so everyone has something to watch...great place to have parties and they will even reserve a section for your group if you give a heads up. This place has quietly become the best sports bar in Davis. It's a lot cleaner and less rowdy than The Grad (nothing against the grad, I like it there too for certain occasions). The TV's are modern and you end up sitting very close to a huge screen. They've got around 12 rotating beers with a lot of interesting selections you don't see around town. It's also the cheapest place in town to drink good beer. All of their "premium" beers are $3.50 pints and $10 pitchers at happy hour ($4.50 and $12.50 regular). That means that you can get a pitcher of some high end beers for about the same price University of Beer is charging for a 1/2 pint. Nice. As others have noted, their non-pizza items are surprisingly good for a pizza place. Our favorites are the salads, wings, and calzones. Online ordering works well. read more

I have no issue paying $28 for a medium pizza - if it tasted anything like pizza. Yes I'm from New York but I've lived in California for over 10 years and gotten used to what constitutes "pizza" here. But this is atrocious. I got the Whole Nine Yards and a plain cheese pizza, the best way to judge an establishment's pizza. Bread is flavorless like cracker dough or matzo, bottom of a slice is rubbery and can't hold itself up, and the sauce and cheese are flavorless. How can someone screw up pizza ? This is what I would imagine Dominos or Pizza Hut would taste like. Guess I'll be driving to Fairfield for Vecini's pizza, or Oakland for Arizmendi's, or even Safeway for a Homerun frozen pizza which is still WAY BETTER than this. And I live across the street. The options and the flavors are out of their world! We were attending an event here so we got to try 3 different pizzas and a chicken Caesar salad!
