I previously went to Lam Bo Buffet many years ago when I used to live in this area, and I previously never liked them because of the mediocre foods. However, I came to their Lam Bo Ballroom for a wedding reception dinner recently, with slightly higher expectations on their quality here than their buffet. The ballroom is located in a separate building from the buffet, deeper into their parking lot, towards the back. The exterior of the ballroom was not bad, and the interior was spacious and nice looking. I had expected their wedding foods to be much higher quality than their regular buffet, but they were absolutely a disaster. These were pretty much the worst Asian wedding foods I've ever had. There were 7 dishes in total: crab and asparagus soup, shrimp paste crab claw, seafood and veggies taro bird's nest, peking duck, steak and asparagus, stuffed salmon, and fried rice. Most of the foods were bland and flavorless. The crab and asparagus soup did not have much flavors, and adding soy sauce and pepper only made it tolerable. The shrimp paste crab claw was also super bland and unappetizing. The seafood and veggies taro bird's nest was also pretty bland but not bad, and the taro bird's nest part of it did not get soggy. The peking duck came with buns and was one of the better dishes out of them all, but it was still not great. The steak was flavorless, dry, and tough. The stuffed salmon was bland, mushy, and fishy. Last but not least, the fried rice was pretty flavorless and unappetizing. I would've given this a 2 out of 5 rating overall because ballroom at least looked nice despite the terrible foods and mediocre service. However, many of the guests had terrible food poisoning after this dinner, including my boyfriend and me. It was an absolute disaster, so I really couldn't give this experience anything higher than a 1 out of 5. read more

It's staggering how different the reviews are for Lam Bo's ballroom versus their buffet. The sentiment I've been seeing is that their ballroom venue is great for events while their restaurant food is terrible, and I must agree. The ballroom is very nice. I went to a wedding here and it was a pretty and spacious venue. It was also a lot cheaper than other venues we looked at. This is probably the tradeoff for the food though. The seafood dishes they served were bland, and the steak was a tough, cheap cut. Worst of all, I caught a severe case of food poisoning along with the groom and his parents. A few other guests I heard back from also caught a mild case. If I was rating based on the venue alone, I might have given 5 stars, but the food served led to such a miserable experience that nearly put me in the emergency room. read more

This is truly a hidden gem! They were extremely helpful even in these struggling times, they were considerate and wanted to help us wherever they could. Thanks michael !!! The most beautiful wedding set up! With the high ceiling and hug stage area, it made the setting up of this beautiful wedding possible. The restroom was clean with beautiful resting benches outside and inside made it comfortable for the wait which was not very long. And the food was so so good! I had the most amazing time planning my wedding at Lam Bo Ballroom! I've worked or talked with all the venue managers Michael, Chris, and Eric during my process of planning and prepping for the event, and everyone was great at communicating, laying everything out for me, and helping me along the way. They even recommended some amazing vendors for the event that they've worked with in the past and gave me great unbiased reviews on everyone. They were very flexible with me when I needed to make adjustments for my vegetarians, gluten frees, and my kids at the wedding. The staff were great during the event, my guests were very happy with how quickly the food was coming out between courses, and everyone raved about the quality of the food. I had my aunts and uncles ask about the restaurant because of the high quality of the food. Another nice thing is they have ample parking space for all your guests, you will have security at your event, the bathrooms are large and very clean. And you get a large bridal suite for you and your girls or guys to get ready in for your ceremony and reception! Also, the vibe is GREAT. I think it's like 20ft ceilings with like glass chandeliers. We recently had our wedding here in January. This was the best venue that we could have imagined. The ballroom is so beautiful and spacious. It is very well maintained. Michael (manager) begin working with us 1 year out and was always available to talk with us via phone or person whenever we needed to. He truly is a pleasure to work with and he really pulled everything together for us. Michael gladly worked with us to figure out the layout of the reception, the food which would be served for dinner, as well as the extra amenities we brought in ourselves to make our guests comfortable. Many of our guests commented on how lovely the venue was and a few told us they would be considering Lam Bo for their upcoming receptions as well. My husband and I got married the first weekend of April and our reception was held here at Lam Bo Ballroom. I can't thank the Lam Bo crew enough, special thanks to Michael, our coordinator, for everything he has done for us! He went above and beyond, he was extremely helpful, answered a million questions from us so quickly and patiently. The staff there were super nice and attentive to every need we had. Ambience: BEAUTIFUL especially with those chandeliers all across the ceiling that lights up the whole ballroom. We really didn't need much decorations because the ballroom speaks for itself, the only main decor we had were our centerpieces in our tall vase with florals. Chiavari chairs were provided and that's what we went for, totally fit in our rustic-greenery theme! Food: My hubby and I are big foodies, it took us awhile to customize our own reception menu because we really want our guests to not only enjoy the party but most importantly the food! Michael was super helpful in this area~ they had a set price for different menus you pick from but we customized to our liking and the best compliment we've got from our guests were the food!! And that made us so so happy that everyone LOVED every dish that came out, we've even had people take to-go! Lol! Dancefloor: There were two different dance floors all in one ballroom, say what?! We recently had our wedding at Lam Bo Ballroom because it was a referral from a friend. We dined here before from another event and was impressed with service and the food. There is plenty of parking and the private ballroom in the back is separate from their buffet restaurant. The ballroom can host up to 400 plus people. So I went here for a wedding this past year and I asked the bride after the wedding who catered the food. Lam Bo did! I was surprised because I didn't know they catered. as well, I thought it was Kim Son food (but it was so good, I didn't know how they would pull that off!) The bride told me that they can cater to any kind of menu she wanted. I was really blown away by the food. I'm thinking that based on past reviews, Lam Bo must have revamped. I went to a Kim Son wedding recently as well this past year and literally went home hungry and got fast food after because I just couldn't eat what they served there. Lam Bo is on the move and ready to pounce. Decor - Well for a wedding, I think it's going to look different compared to what it looks like without the decoration. Had my wedding here and the service was awesome! Lam Bo was the whole package with all that we needed for the reception, from catering, bartending, A/V, BYOLiquor, and nice chiavari chairs. We were able to customize some things on the menu after the tasting and had several of our friends and family complimenting about the food. They were very flexible on timing so we had a lot of time to prepare and decorate. Michael was the manager/coordinator. He was easy to communicate with and answered all our questions in person and on the phone. Everything went so super smooth on the wedding day. Michael made sure we were taken care of during our big day. There were two dance floors with lots of space to customize the table layout. I was thoroughly impressed with Lam Bo Ballroom this past weekend when I attended a friend's wedding. My review is solely on my experience as a guest. If you're planning to have a Vietnamese/Chinese style wedding, Kim Son is usually the top pick. However, I would consider Lam Bo Ballroom as a venue. I enjoy the ballroom being inside the city, and that it is kind of hidden from the busy street of Westheimer (it's behind the Lam Bo buffet restaurant). I also like that they have a big parking lot. I don't think valet is necessary. The ballroom is big but only enough to host 1 wedding (up to 600 guests). I like this idea a lot! Unlike Kim Son Bellaire, there's no chance of having wedding crashers or your guests going to the wrong wedding/room. Inside the ballroom, it's very grand and has high ceilings. It's in pretty good shape. Reminds me of the same design you would see at a hotel ballroom. With that being said, decorations can be at a minimum since the ballroom is pretty on its own. They also have a built in bar to the right of the ballroom. Food was good! It's definitely not what you find next door at the buffet. I think the menu we had was the standard 9 course and my friends and I were satisfied. Who knows, I might be writing an updated review in a few years with my experience as a bride! Restroom review: The restrooms are located to the right when you walk through the first set of doors. I don't typically expect a nice restroom when I'm at an Asian establishment, but I remember saying "Wow" when I walked in. It was very clean!! We figured to give Lambo Ballroom a chance although they are not experiences and more expensive than Kim son for big traditional Asian weddings. My wedding was this past weekend as I had to move forward remembering the embarrassment my husband and I went though because of Lam Bo. 1. Employees and staff The wedding coordinator for the restaurant was extremely rude and not accommodating for most part of our planning. Every wedding comes with valet right? At least upon the bride and grooms request? Exactly that happened but they could not accommodate to our request. His reply was I called one vendor but he never replied. So we couldn't get a valet. Really?? With how many valet vendors in town? No it's because everyone that works for lam Bo is lazy and incompetent. Our guests had to drive around for at least 30 minutes just for parking! The staff itself during the day of wedding: was unorganized and had the ugliest faces. Didn't anyone teach you to smile while you're working? Towards the end of the night... Staff employees threw away everything including our other vendors who provided equipment and materials for the wedding. They were so rude to our vendors and my decorator. What idiots actually have the audacity to just throw everything away without prior notice or the common decency to ask if something looked important. Does 450 table linens , silk too... Look like a material or time you would throw away? Do you all throw away your cheap cloths you use for your restaurant ?! I believe not. Food: BEWARE!!!!!! If the restaurant rating isn't good and they present to you something amazing as a trial ? Make sure you get it in writing exactly what you are paying for or else they will rip you off and cheat you for your money. The embarrassment of feeding our close family and friends the shittiest (excuse my language ) possible at a wedding. We chose 1 of the more expensive menus available because we wanted our guest to be well fed. A table of 10 guest cost a little over $700 and we didn't mind paying that because we were under the impression that they would serve our guest what we had at our tasting. But that was not what our guest was served. The lobster was mainly shells, the ducks were more like baby ducks, and the steak was so chewy. Not only was the food was not good but there wasn't even enough served. There was maybe enough food for 4 people when we had paid for a table of 10. Imagine ten hungry adults but only four can eat?!? Ridiculous..... Space: Now it's only perks... The space is big. The bad part is. They claim to be able to hold 600. We had roughly 45 tables which is 450 guest and there is no way it will fit even one more table. The sad part is.. When there are events happening in the front stage; everyone had to walk up front because there is no way to see what goes on. They have had few Asian weddings and I would NOT recommend this restaurant as a wedding vendor to anyone ! I hope to be able to express my concerns to all brides who will ever consider having their wedding there. My wedding alone, could've brought Lambo more wedding business but this will be the end of it. What bride would ever want to go through the stress I did after my wedding? I had my wedding reception here this past weekend and couldn't be happier with the venue. They gave us a ton of time to get the place set up which was great since we were doing most of the decorations ourselves. They installed draping and dance floors recently which saved us a ton and gave us great options when organizing our tables. The food was amazing and not limited to only Asian food. The coordinator, Mr. Liem, was so helpful and accommodating whenever we had questions and he made the day go by effortlessly. Came here for a friends wedding about a month ago, parking was pretty good, they had valet too. The ballroom is huge and very elegant, its situated in the back of their buffet building, tight and snug in the back. The building itself has a very high ceiling and bright lights, the decor was nice, chairs were typical, tables were big, cloths were super clean, music/speakers were decent. The venue can hold about 45 tables (the wedding I was at had roughly 45-46). Now the food, I would have to say the food was actually very good when compared to all the other asian weddings that I've been to. (Kim Son Bellaire, Kim Son Fountains, Ocean Palace, Fung's Kitchen, and Chateau) The appetizers were amazing, they had poke, Peking duck, and walnut shrimp for cocktail hour. The Lobster and Noodles was something I've never had at the other restaurants and it was amazing! Fried Rice was typical, abalone and steak was alright. If you are in search for the perfect wedding venue, Lambo Ballroom is it! This venue has everything you need and will make wedding planning so much easier. First of all, you will have Michael. He is the best coordinator/manager I've ever encountered in all my search for wedding venues. Don't talk to anyone else. Just Michael. No one else will make your life easier than Michael. My wedding was on the 24th of November 2018. It was a 'phung-nomenal' wedding indeed! The food was catered by Lambo and before my guests left that night, they had so many great compliments about the food and excellent service. Side note: Make sure you order the menu with lobster, it was delicious! The venue itself is breathtakingly beautiful and is fully equipped with stage lights, two projection screens, dressing rooms, chiavari chairs, complimentary table linens and a bar. A lot of times people would have to rent these things but Lambo provides them, hence, making our lives a bit less stressful. We had the best dream wedding become a reality! I am a florist and event decor for a bride at Lambo this weekend and I would not recommend the venue. It is pretty but the service there is horrible. They only allow a certain time to set up the venue and kicked us out early. Wouldn't let us come back on the day of the wedding to pick up our linens and centerpieces. They moved the centerpiece to the corner of each table to make room for their food that hasn't even been served (there is a reason it's called a centerpiece not corner piece! ). They wouldn't light up the candles for the bride and from what she told me, they didn't even want to cut her cake to serve to the guest. The next day I came back for my linen they had already packed my table covers in the bag, I'm thinking how nice, but let me just count it to make sure. So I took out the table covers and food , napkins and other trash starts falling out, they were too lazy to clean the table so they balled up their trash in my linens! Not just that, the manager Mr. Lim made us sweep up his trash that fell out of my table linens and he wanted done ASAP or else he would throw us out! Never had I experience this kind of servitude at other venues. After reading the last review I can see why! Never again will I do a wedding at Lambo ballroom and I suggest the bride to run far as possible from this venue as all they want is money and not service you for what you paid for! read more

We had our wedding last month here at Lam Bo. Many thanks to Lam Bo Ballroom, Michael and Nhi for making our wedding such a great success and memorable. Nhi was very responsive and always prompt to answer any questions. The ballroom is gorgeous and elegant with 26 ft ceiling and beautiful chandeliers. The first time we visited Lam Bo after visiting several venues in the area, we decided without any doubt that this is the place. We loved how the ballroom itself is beautiful without any decorations, so we did not have to spend a lot on the decorations. The ballroom is equipped with two projectors, chiavari chairs, a bar, dressing rooms, a stage and a large parking. The exceptional 8-course Asian meals were catered by Lam Bo. Not only the quality of food was exceptional, but the service we received were amazing. The wedding night went flawless. Most of my guests were their first time at Lam Bo and they complimented on how delicious the food was and how beautiful the ballroom was.
